Christmas a'la Nepal Asia » Nepal
I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year! May all your dreams and wishes come true! I decided to spend the festivities in Royal Chitwan National Park in the southern part of Nepal. After my Bardia adventure on the way back to Kathmandu I have stopped in Sauraha ( a village nearby the park) and spent a very nice but short time here. As I really enjoyed myself.. I have decided that instead of running off to India right away I will spend Christmas and New Years Eve just chilling, reading and riding elephants and walking [View Full Entry]

Want to know what it feels like to fly with the Eagles above Phewa Tal? Or Follow the path of a Tiger or a Rhino on an Elephant back! Chill in one of the yoga, or meditation centers! Stroll around the market in Pokhara, or hike up to the World Peace Pagoda with stunning views of Phewa Tal and the Annapurnas.... Sounds good? That's what I thought.... before I knew I was on my way to Pokhara and the Terai in search of the ultimate feel of Nepal. I liked Pokhara much better than Kathmandu. It wasn't as dusty and noisy [View Full Entry]

The Friendship Highway linking Lhasa to Kathmandu in the Himalayan Range (in realidad is a dirt road ...) is amazing. Probably it is called a highway because it is a way high up....( or at least I cannot think of any other reason.) The first thing you notice is the contrast as you traverse between the mountains from north to south. The southern nepali side is covered with lush vegetation and clouds while the northern Tibetan side is dry, arid, rocky.a 1000m beneath us the greyish water of the Bothe Kosi... We are traveling on an unnervingly dangerous winding road ... [View Full Entry]

I just got back from my Everest Trek : ))))) At the moment I'm just chillin' in Kathamndu enjoying the commodities of my hotel room ( like hot bath and real toilet bowl) and catching up on sleep.... 24 days ago I took a bus to Jiri and started my trek from there. My goal was to reach Kala Pattar, a 5550m peak towering over Everest Base Camp. I could have taken a flight to Lukla, ( making my trek 9 days shorter) but I wanted to immerse myself into nepali culture... besides I thought this is gonna be a good [View Full Entry]

I have got up early in the morning and decided to join the Pilgrims at the Barkhor Circuit. Every morning they offer incense and circle around the Jokhang Temple, before going to one of the Monasteries in the mountains. I joined them to the Monastery called Drak Yerpa. I was a trully awesome experience. There were no cops, no Military, no Secret Police. The tiny monastery is on the face of the mountain and the khora going around is spectacular . The path joining together caves with altars, where monks are meditating is awesome and the sky was blue the sun [View Full Entry]

As part of the Jeep tour we have passed the Tongla Pass and enjoyed some awesome views of the Himalayas. We have stayed in the Rongbuk Monastery at the foot of Mt Everest, walked to the Everest Base Camp, from where the expeditions starts with hope of reaching the summit. I also spent some time in local villages, did some trekkig at 5200m in hope of a better view and enjoyed a memorable sunrise and many beautiful sunsets... I hope you will enjoy the pics! A Dzsip túra részeként megáltunk a Tongla Hágon hogy élvezzük a tökéletes kilátást a Himalája Vonulataira . [View Full Entry]

Greetings from wonderland! All tourist to enter to Tibetan Autonomus Region must be part of a tour group accompanied by a tourguide and have a valid Permit emitted by the Tibetan Tourist Bureau. After successfully arranging my Tibet permit -a piece of paper sent to me by e-mail- saying that I am a one person tour group and I am my own guide too. I took the brand new train to Lhasa. After signing a piece of paper that I'm not "highly dangerous pregnant women" and I don't have "diabetes out of control," nor the "hysteria or brain vein disease" whatever [View Full Entry]

After the rainy Xi'an , I headed West toward Urumqi, capital of the Xinjiang Province and home of the Uighur minority. As I foze my butt off in Tian Chi lake in the Tian Shan Mountain range, as soon as I could I left toward the much warmer and sunnier Turpan. I have seen some pretty awesome desert village ruins from the 4th and 7th centuries and some 1200 years old mummies pretty well preserved thanks to the arid dry climate. I have visited a karez, which is tunnel system destinated to carry water from the mountains to the dry deserted [View Full Entry]
