I sit listening to traditional Gypsy chanting music in a most helpful internet cafe (finally!!). We are in the most incredible little town I think I have ever been in! Sandstone ?? I don't even know what to call them, - oh, yes, formations! (We have been doing so many right brained activities, my left brain is just waking up). These formations rise up from nowhere dominating the landscape in a kind of Disney fashion. It is so surreal and mind boggling (wondering how it was people carved into them to create homes and churches in 3 AD!)~ gazing around town I see the mosque nestled next to one and restaurants and hotels peeking out of these gnome- like sandstone cones! Guy has gone to talk with a really sweet man we met here who sells ... read more

I am so excited I finally have a few minutes to update you! We have had difficulty getting online so know that there is (obviusy) sooo much to tell one challenge has been foreign keyboards that have english letters but they dont match when typing so please forgive my rudimentary typing and any typos. ž We just returned from a fantastic week of sailing around the islands off of Zadar, Croatia with Elle and Kaya. The winds were mostly strong enough for some real fun + feeling our chartered boat which was a retired racing boat really show her colors. Several times we would jump overboard and tow each other behind our sailing boat in the incredible turquoise water which was soooo refreshing + though sometimes the boat was going so fast we cold act like ... read more

The blog wıll not let me ınput the correct country so here we are for real, ın Istanbul... We love Istanbul! It ıs so refreshıng and clean ( a stark contrast from Egypt, where garbage ıs all over the place). The weather ıs pleasant and we are meltıng ınto the crowds a bıt more, as opposed to beıng hassled at every turn for money, as was the case ın Caıro. Our host Basak, ıs great!!! She ıs refreshıngly frıendly and so helpful. She set us up for tourıng the cıty wıth ease. She lıves wıth her whole famıly ın an apt. bldg. - parents downstaırs wıth her 30 year old brother and she (34) lıves upstaırs - we are ın a really nıce and spacoıous spare room on the second floor wıth her - nıce to ... read more

Yesterday was very quiet in Egypt. Everyone in the country except those in toursism, were off so they could vote. Those who weren't off yesterday are off today so they can vote - yes they get 2 days to vote. Our Egyptologist who is from Luxor and the owner of Quest travel who journeyed on his boat with us to Aswan, are all VERY hopeful and excited about the new possibilities. We are now in Giza again. We had an incredible night last night - a private visit into the kings chamber of the Great Pyramid. We have just finished a very delicious breakfast and we part ways with our travelling companionions this afternoon and eveing. We were sad to leave the boat yesterday, the Egyptian crew were so full of love and heart and we ... read more

OKayyy We are NOT in Kansas, Toto!!! Day 1 - Waking to the soft creamy feel of Egyptian cotton sheets made us want just want to stay there all day but alas, this was a 4 am wake up for a dawn walk into the paws of the Sphinx. Like a dream, silently we floated through the warmth of the Sahara desert feet landing on ancient whispers, exquisite lighting warming the pyramid. Rounding a corner, the Sphinx in full glory - silently sitting, listening to any messages...Horus, Maat, unburdened forgiveness, light as a feather...I thought about you - There were some profound images/insights which I will share with you individually. The camel ride was a complete surprise. I rode on Alibaba who seemed to like to make a lot of noise - not one easily repeatable ... read more
