Yeh.... Patong was a bit much! Basically every girl here (and not all of them are girls) is a massuese or a prostitute. Full stop. The way to tell the difference is by the amount of rouge they have on. Seriously, its pretty bizarre! So many old white men holding hands with their new Thai 'wives'... oo, and a fair few young lads who must have popped over to lose the big V with a pretty (and no doubt cheap!) Thai laydee. Oxford Road not good enough for you eh? (little Reading joke for you there folks). The tone of the place might best be summed up by the warning our hotel owners felt necessary to put on every door. 'don't do the sheets dirty with blood or anything'. Take from that what you will.... It ... read more

Obviously when in Thailand, it is obligatory to go to Ko Phi Phi, and hunt out The Beach. Its something they're very proud of, as indicated by the fact every cafe and bar in the place showed the film every night. We have had a touch of rain recently, so were a little worried our vision of paradise would be stolen from us by monsoon season, but Buddha must have liked our monk action, and rewarded us with glorious sunshine! We took full advantage of this, and booked ourselves on an all day boat, in which we'd call in for a snorkel at THE Beach, among others. Maya Beach is on Ko Phi Phi Ley, which is a small secluded island that tourists (and maybe noone?) is allowed to stay on. It is absolutely stunning, ... read more

Well, not strictly speaking true as I would have been here a week tomorrow, but i have good reason for slacking! Basically, i was waiting for my uni results, and frankl;y was too nervous to bother with this until i found out... however, a week later my MICKEY MOUSE uni still haven't got the info. So i thoguht i best crack on... i'll keep you posted. But yes! Thailand now! and yeh, its pretty darn good! Lovely people, gorgeous weather, bargain prices - yes, we have been shopping. Just the odd item, priming ourselves for Khoa san road or wherever it is, where i have been promised i can buy all of topshop for an english pound. Fingers crossed eh! But yes, we had to cross back to the west side of Malaysia to cross ... read more

Yes, it is time to leave Malaysia. We actually spent longer here than planned, and i think we've pretty much done it to death! In kuala terrangganu today. and we leave for thailnad tonight. Shite last day though... its pissing down out there (hence the internetting), my back keeps siezeing up, i broke a bracelet and lost a stone from my ring. The post office is closed. Nightmare eh? How do i cope through these rought times you may ask? By looking forward to getting trasted in thailand, and by remembering how pretty the beach we just left was. Pre-beach we had to stop offin Kota bharu, did i mention that last time? anyway, it was brillaint! We found the biggest, best and cheapest night food market thus far, and gorged ourselves on mysterious looking ... read more

Hello! We have finally emerged from the jungle! After 'roughing it' i have of course found spiritual enlightment, have changed my name to 'earth child' and have cast aside all my worldly possessions aside from some rather fetching leopard print pants and a coconut brassiere. Aside from the first line, none of the above is true. Jungles are HARD! and i just can't hack it for too long - i was thrilled today to finally be able to go for a wee inside, and will be euphoric when i can wash the 3 days of mud, leeches, river water and sweat from my clothes... but it really was good! Taman Negarra is like a national park (actually, i think thats a direct translation...). It started of so relaxing (sigh) - a boat ride to the ... read more

Hi de hi! I know there's been a nbit of a rush on the old blogs, but now i am finally able to write in real time! Huzzah! We've just popped to internet to kill time before we get our bus outta here... and into the jungle (oooOOOOOooo). KL.... not my favourite place. Its been alright really, but its just so difficult to get around here, everythings been a proper struggle, and everythings so hard to get too - we just gave up on a couple of things we planned to do! We spent the best part of 2 days trying to get to the Lake Gardens before we gave up in a huff! But actually one of those attempts led us to the National Mosque, which was actually great! We had to wear robes and ... read more

Ok, really gonna pick up the pace now. Its so annoying having a week back log. So malaysia. Lots of english influence, but under sharia law which means booze is pricey (boo!) about, 1.20 for a small beer. Disgusting eh? Fags are a pound though so i'm coping. Its awful really cos food, eating in local food coursts, is costing us about 50p a meal. You gotta prioritise spending though don'tyou? Anyway yes, Malaysia is a mix of modernity and islam, skyscraper cities in jungles, and terrible environmental practices for the sake of getting in the cash./ they tear down amazing old building and acres of jungle in order to build apartments and hotels. Its alright though... people are friendly, lots to see, cities to beaches to jungles.... lets summarise: First we went Malacca, which has ... read more

Hi, last one tonight. so tired... just thought i;'d quickly wrap up the dave bit of the trip.... After Gili T, we went to padangbai, bali, just as something to do before flying back to Singapore, which didn't involve go back to kuta beach. Thank god we didn't go all the way to kuta as after a 6 hour ferry ride, covering approximately 15 miles (seriously), we were no mood for travelling further! When we arrived at the port. oddly, Sofia was there! Hoorah! so we just hung out, and then me and dave collapsed in a fit of post-party-induced tiredness, after a few short hours sleep the previous night. I've not much to ay really, Padangbai had the potnbetial to be lovely, and we had high hops of a last beach stint, but in fact ... read more

Howdy. Yeh i forgot loads of stuff! Got me little half hearted journal with me know so i may try som highlights! Ok... dave and Matt (our new aussie friend) BRAVELY swam into a cave of bats. I stayed on the boat, where i was in an excellent position to hear them shrieking and dashing back out. The same matt also shrieked much more a little later when he fell of a ladder and dislocated hi knee. Kids eh. He's alright... went to a massuese in Lombok who sucked out the evil using a glass, some petrol and a lighter. Makes a change from witch hazel. What else... did i mention the sulphur lake with its magical healing properties? I of course became much younger, thinner and more attractive. It doesn't really show in the photos ... read more
