Thanks for sharing - From: villages, nandi hills, fights to the death...it's all here in india!
I'm really enjoying your India travelogue. I have travelled a lot, but have been dreaming about going to India for many years. I hope to go next year, but it's a hard trip to plan since I want to go for at least 3 months and I can't get that much time off from work. So I've put my request out to the universe and in the meanwhile I scan the internet for reports from people I can relate to. I'm enjoying your descriptions immensly. You seem like a very positive and spiritual person.

Rain is on the way - From: blissssss
Rain sounds fantastic! Your blog reminds me of Lagaan and how the people were longing for rain after prolonged - year after year after year - drought. Same sentiments are brought to mind by a favorite poem of mine - Градушка (Hail) by Пейо Яворов, one of the finest poetic talents in Bulgaria - the action is in a poor village at the end of 19th century, several years of extreme drought, no harvest, no food, no life. People are aching for some rain, which eventually comes down but for a few minutes and the precious drops are followed by thunders, hail, more lost crop, and total despair. I am sure relief is coming for you - the forecast for Bangalore already predicts temperatures lower (by 15-20oF!) than the ones in Delhi, and more rain. I hope you will not feel chilly :), but rather reassured. Take care, Mum

You knows, its funny you had that kind of experience in Amsterdam. As an American we always think Amsterdam = legal drug use. To me, it was never somewhere I wanted to visit. Now, after reading your blog (which has NO talk of drugs - wonderful) I wold love to visit and see the greenery and a whole culture of happy people. And, I LOVE the picture of you standing under the spring trees! Beautiful!

Customs and rituals - From: Carnevale
Great blog entry! Captivating! Carnevale sounds a very familiar idea - not only for Mardi Gras, but also I find great similarities with the Day of Saint Trifon, patron of vine-growers, wine-producers and tavern-keepers, which Bulgarians celebrate on February 14th (old calendar) or February 1st (new calendar) each year. I remember as a child celebrating Trifon Zarezan (from the verb “zariazvam” meaning to prune vines) with my parents, relatives and friends (fun, fun, fun…). Carnevale also reminds me for another popular Christian Orthodox holiday, “Sirni Zagovezni, which takes place seven weeks before Easter and marks the beginning of the longest period of fasting. It is so neat to once again realize that “globalization” does not take place only in terms of modern economic events, but also in terms of history, rituals, and celebrations. I love how you described the evening Mass in San Marco Church. It is awesome that you had the chance to even spin fire - incredible! Maybe you should go back to Venecia, if you had a chance, to enjoy the city under not so crazy circumstances, and perhaps with better weather. But the memories from Carnevale will always be unique.

grazie! - From: life
=) Im glad youve been enjoying the entries, and the pictures too. There are definately a lot of neat things going on...I only wish that I had MORE pictures, but I have to be honest, Im pretty disatisfied with the camera I have. I mean, its alright when it works but it just drains batteries really quickly (same problem you had before I think...) so I havent been using it a whole lot at all. Most of the pictures I have Ive stolen from other people....but theres a lot more that I see that I dont really get to record. =( Wish you were here to see a lot of this with me though...soon enough I guess...itll be lots of fun when you and Mom and Dad come to visit! Have fun skiing/boarding this weekend...hopefully itll be a nice break from schoolwork and teaching...speaking of which, how is that going? Keep me updated, Im interested to know how your class is progressing. Best of luck, tata for now! much love.

This blog is awesome pleasure reading! - From: life
I just finally got caught up with all your blogs, which are so colorful and so fun to read! I love your donkeys, and the story about the festival in Bagnania and the friendly guy who recognized you from his car, and the soccer games you follow, it’s such a wonderful sprot. It really sounds like Viterbo and the area is *such* a great place to get close to lovely people! I adore your pictures—especially the lack of symmetry in the facades, like the one with the gorgeous balconies. And the skies are totally gothic! It makes me happier just sitting and reading your entries and all the excitement and inspiration that comes through! I’ll be looking forward to your entry about Carnivale! xox

Mamma son tanto felice
Simply fabulous! - From: gli amici e il cibo
It seems nice and quiet week overall. Having food, chats, dances, and watching movies and football with friends is hard to beat! And all this topped off with learning history and Italian is simply fabulous! I wish I could learn Italian in Italy! And history of the Roman Empire in the heart of the former Roman Empire! And history of the Renaissance right there, in the cradle of the Renaissance (you are only a few hours away from Florence, aren’t you?) - I am having goose bumps! As for the movies, if your friends are interested in watching really good quality Italian movies, here are some ideas - I have heard that the Italian cinema was in a sort of crisis in the 80’s. However, at least two movies that have won Oscars come to mind - Nuovo Cinema Paradiso (I hope the spelling is right, it’s New Cinema Paradise) directed by Giuseppe Tornatore (late 80s or early 90s) and La vita e bella by Roberto Benigni (late 90s). And of course for the taste of real classics - something with Sophia Lorain and Marcello Mastroianni! But I am sure your friends Fabiola, Francesca and Stefano will be much more resourceful and helpful. And for the Italian music, as well. Sorry, I don’t know any typical Canadian dish - isn’t the Canadian cuisine some sort of fusion of English/American and French? Anyway, keep writing - your blog entries are something I am looking forward to reading…

Amazed - From: The Beginnings...
I am amazed to say the least. Already you make Italy sound like something that could only exist in stories, but yet it exists. I will try to remember to keep in touch, but with the semester starting next week I must remember my humanity...not to mention my own forgetful personality, but I shall try to remember from time to time. I'm thrilled to be connected to someone such as yourself going through awesome adventures. I kinda feel like an acolyte. (If you've read the Pendragon series you know what I'm talking about). I hope to read more. Talk to you later and I send my love. -Lucas
