hi there
hi, I'm a design student and an architect here in India and I'm researching on the problems that tourists face while finding there way in Indian Cities. Please mail me your comments, ideas, observations on this. I'm based in Delhi and this research is for the improvement of signage systems in the city. Thanks Raman

I'm really enjoying your India travelogue. I have travelled a lot, but have been dreaming about going to India for many years. I hope to go next year, but it's a hard trip to plan since I want to go for at least 3 months and I can't get that much time off from work. So I've put my request out to the universe and in the meanwhile I scan the internet for reports from people I can relate to. I'm enjoying your descriptions immensly. You seem like a very positive and spiritual person.

Rain is on the way
Rain sounds fantastic! Your blog reminds me of Lagaan and how the people were longing for rain after prolonged - year after year after year - drought. Same sentiments are brought to mind by a favorite poem of mine - Градушка (Hail) by Пейо Яворов, one of the finest poetic talents in Bulgaria the action is in a poor village at the end of 19th century, several years of extreme drought, no harvest, no food, no life. People are aching for some rain, which eventually comes down but for a few minutes and the precious drops are followed by thunders, hail, more lost crop, and total despair. I am sure relief is coming for you - the forecast for Bangalore already predicts temperatures lower (by 15-20oF!) than the ones in Delhi, and more rain. I hope you will not feel chilly :), but rather reassured. Take care, Mum

Good luck

You knows, its funny you had that kind of experience in Amsterdam. As an American we always think Amsterdam = legal drug use. To me, it was never somewhere I wanted to visit. Now, after reading your blog (which has NO talk of drugs - wonderful) I wold love to visit and see the greenery and a whole culture of happy people. And, I LOVE the picture of you standing under the spring trees! Beautiful!

Customs and rituals
Great blog entry! Captivating! Carnevale sounds a very familiar idea not only for Mardi Gras, but also I find great similarities with the Day of Saint Trifon, patron of vine-growers, wine-producers and tavern-keepers, which Bulgarians celebrate on February 14th (old calendar) or February 1st (new calendar) each year. I remember as a child celebrating Trifon Zarezan (from the verb “zariazvam” meaning to prune vines) with my parents, relatives and friends (fun, fun, fun ). Carnevale also reminds me for another popular Christian Orthodox holiday, “Sirni Zagovezni, which takes place seven weeks before Easter and marks the beginning of the longest period of fasting. It is so neat to once again realize that “globalization” does not take place only in terms of modern economic events, but also in terms of history, rituals, and celebrations. I love how you described the evening Mass in San Marco Church. It is awesome that you had the chance to even spin fire incredible! Maybe you should go back to Venecia, if you had a chance, to enjoy the city under not so crazy circumstances, and perhaps with better weather. But the memories from Carnevale will always be unique.

This blog is awesome pleasure reading!
I just finally got caught up with all your blogs, which are so colorful and so fun to read! I love your donkeys, and the story about the festival in Bagnania and the friendly guy who recognized you from his car, and the soccer games you follow, it’s such a wonderful sprot. It really sounds like Viterbo and the area is *such* a great place to get close to lovely people! I adore your picturesespecially the lack of symmetry in the facades, like the one with the gorgeous balconies. And the skies are totally gothic! It makes me happier just sitting and reading your entries and all the excitement and inspiration that comes through! I’ll be looking forward to your entry about Carnivale! xox
