Meals in Hong Kong - From: Hong Kong by Night
It was a great pleasure to be able to spend our last couple of days in Hong Kong with Keith. We went to the Peking Restaurant which is popular for its location. In the evening, weather permitting, one can have a good view to see the lighted up Hong Kong harbour. I was struggling to order our dishes. The Chinese name for each dish didn't mean much & I had to read the English writing underneath to find out what the actual ingredients for each dish were! Keith was very brave to leave the menu order to me. We had Peking Duck with pancakes, Beggars Chicken, as shown by the photos, Fish with crunchy peanut & chillies topping, Prawns stirred fried with salty egg yolk & crab roe, Chinese broccoli with fresh garlic, fried rice with egg white & dried scallops & plain rice. After the ordering the waitress came to us with a Chinese platter & an enormous hammer. There was a gigantic lump of charcoal inside the platter. The waitress asked us to crack it up. I offered it to Keith to give it a go but he left the honour to me. After the 'cracking ceremony' the waitress said she would take it back to the kitchen to have the chicken put on a plate for us. We joked that there really wasn't a chicken inside but just a show. The chicken was wrapped in layers of lotus leaves when it was served onto the table. The waitress cut the leaves to open it up for us as in the picture. The surprise sweet platter consisted of some white buns with pink dots & custard filling in the shape of peaches. Peach means longevity. Very appropriate for a birthday celebration. There were miniature pancake rolls with apple fillings, tasted like McDonald's apple pie, & another pastry with taro paste. There were also scoops of hazelnut & taro ice cream. Keith was just as kind & generous, he insisted to treat us to our 'last supper' ie Dim Sum. Thanks & praised God for his perfect arrangement that we were able to meet in such a way while we were miles away from home. We will treasure the good time that we have had with Keith in Hong Kong. With much love Sophiaxx

You must be exhausted by now! - From: Manly
Well Mr Viner, I'm sure nobody can accuse you of having missed the slightest opportunity to visit a 'must see' place. I can't believe how much you've managed to fit in during your trip! I feel exhausted just reading it. But what a fab series of memories you'll have, especially having done this blog. Was great to see the city pics in contrast to the beautiful landscapes you've previously blogged, and how great to see the views of Sydney and Sydney Opera House inside and out. Well done. Have a safe and comfy flight to Hong Kong and we'll see you soon xxx
