beach life on roatan in bay islands
beach life on roatan in bay islands
sunset over west bay beach on roatan
After getting through xmas and new year drinking heavily most days with the boys from Boyce in Idaho in the US I decided to spend a few relaxing days on the beach while they practised for their Scuba Diving certificate. Most days would be spent catching a motorboat or lancha to the beautiful and sunny white beaches of West Bay and spending the afternoons reading and catching the rays and actually getting to see the sun set unlike the carribean coast resorts in belize and mexico. This place is really amzing and the only downside is the sheer amount of mosquitos [View Full Entry]

Decided to go see all of the island today and rented a scooter for 24 hours. In the afternoon it was necessary to take a motorboat to see parts of the island which can only be reached by lancha. I managed to see all the island and return to the resort of the West End in the opposite end of the island in time for 6pm and sunset. A thoroughly good day despite nearly coming off the scooter two times on the rough terrain on the south of the island. [View Full Entry]

The four of us arrived on the Bay Islands in Honduras on the 30th december and it was decided that this would be a better place to celebrate the new year instead of the capital cities in both HOnduras and El Salvador. After finding some great accomdation after spending the first nite in a mosquito ridden hostel it was time to party with my american dudes. Managed to find a rave on the beach which was called FUBAR and needless to say that those of you in the know what this stands for in the clubbing world of the united kingdom [View Full Entry]

on the way to the carribean coast again to visit some great islands off the northern coast of Honduras
After two exhausting days of bus rides from the capital of El Salvador to the capital of Honduras and then to the northern carribean port town of La Ceiba it was up bright and early again for the ferry to the bay islands where we all planned to party it up for the New Year and to see what 2007 had in store for everyone. The ferry was one of the worst rides I have had in long time and there were people using the plastic bags left, right and centre. I just about managed to hold on but needless to [View Full Entry]

nice to see a sun set .......
all of the time in belize and mexico you get great weather but never get to see the sun set but here on the pacific side it is much better for sun set but not as hot as the carribean coast i think
Well, the next part of the adventure began when I changed hotels in the capital San Salvador and moved to a backpackers hostel closer to bars and stuff. In the morning the people from the other day were going to the beach with two americans from Boice in Idaho and a bunch of salvaduranos to party at the beach for two days.....sounds great so instead of checking in at the hostel that morning I was off in the back of a pick up truck with the bags along with us for food and drink supplies and our rucksacks of course.......two hours [View Full Entry]

this was the most windy place i have ever visited along with being on top the massive table mountain in South Africa which was reached by cable car incendently
decided to leave Antigua in Guatemala for my next country El Salvador because I wanted to feel like a gringo or extranero again because there are way to many tourists in the city in guatemala and it is very hard to practice the old spanish here. i caught a bus early in the day on what is boxing day in england and headed off at 4am for the capital of El Salvador which is easily remembered San salvador. Managed to track down a nice place to stay away from the notorious smelly and dangerous downtown market area. I decided to check [View Full Entry]

After the strenous hike on christmas eve up the Volcan Pacaya, I decided to take it easy on xmas day and had a few drinks and a bumper dinner with a bunch of australian travellers who had been touring mexico and guatemala for a month. Spent the day walking around the colonial city of Antigua and taking in the celebrations of the local people because here xmas eve is more popular for celebrating with the families and christmas day out in public for a stroll. I found it a bit frustrating that after 9pm on xmas day and x,mas eve here [View Full Entry]

Well I got up really early today and decided to get to these World Heritage Site ruins before the mass of coaches arrived with the tourists to try and get some decent fotos and I also managed to return later in the day to get some better shots when the sun was setting and everyone had basically left except me, security guards and the local macaws or papagayos in spanish. This was one of the best sites I have visited for ancient ruins in the americas so far and the setting was absolutely perfect and although there are lots of photos [View Full Entry]

Well congratulations or felicidades to myself for becoming another yeard older and wiser. Still in San Pedro in the morning and waiting to return to Puerto Cortes to pick up my Nationwide Bank Card so I decide to treat myself to a birthday haircut and a new T Shirt to cheer myself up. Not too much to do here in this city where tourists really stand out a mile. I made an effort to blend in with the locals yesterday and today by wearing my jeans, trainers and polo shirt instead of the usual attire of shorts and flip flops in [View Full Entry]
