Palacio Nacional in Distrito Federal
Palacio Nacional in Distrito Federal
the headquarters of the government here in Brasilia is a very modern affair
Well there is no stranger capital city in the world that i have been to than the one that is tha capital of Brasil, with its aeroplane inspired design and difficulty in getting around also. Most of the buildings do not look more than twenty years old and the city just rises out of the desert as one approaches it by land or air. In a little way it kind of reminds be of Birmingham combined with bits of Liverpool for the architecture in england with the all the high rises around brum & spaghetti junction bearing a resemblance also. just returning to our second home on the banks on the amazon after spending half a day searching the waterways and tributaries for the shy river dolphins
The sun sets here are absolutely amazing and every nite the sky over the jungle regularly lights up with a colourful mix of blues, yellows, pinks, orange, black & grey depending on the clearness of the day because it can rain here too like no other place I have experienced in central america. After the group head backs to Leticia in colombia and the combined port of Tabatinga in brasil after an unforgettable five days I am left with a lingering feeling for wanting to see more of the almighty green monster and also experience more of the main waterway [View Full Entry]

Wow this really is it, my ´Sueno Dorado´ or major dream for the english readers of this text. This is why I have endured the numerous vaccinations last year in england and constantly taking the seriously strong larium for fighting malaria for & what I have been looking forward to most in my travels of latin america so far - the amazon and all that it has to offer. I get quite lucky when I arrive from my flight from Bogota into the Colombian side of the amazonia which is Leticia and I meet the two australians greg & josie, [View Full Entry]

I have arranged a flight to the amazonia in southern colombia Leticia here in the capital city of Bogota which leaves in a few days time because unfortunately I have returned to the city at easter time or semana santa which for the heavily religous folk here in latin america means holiday time. While biding my time here, I manage to get in touch with a few colombian amigas from my internet language learning site for meeting new friends and because they have visited london over the last few years it makes it easier on the converation and they decide [View Full Entry]

two days around the province of Huila in Colombia visiting the world heritage ruins in this part of the country. i felt quite priveledged knowing that in 2006 only 10 people a month or 120 for the whole year visited this marvelous place deep in the colombian countryside not far from Guerilla territory but deep in the countryside. enjoy.... These ruins really do feel a lot more historical than the Aztec and Mayan places that I have visited in Mexico and Guatemala and the ingravings on the statues is not as detailed as the ruins of Tikal, Chitzen Itza and [View Full Entry]
