After another long 6hr coach journey we arrived in Sukhothai. Sukhothai is divided into two cities, the old and the new the later is where we were staying in a really nice GH run by a family man who on our first night gave us the best corn on the cob ever!!!! Our first evening we walked to the high street and grabbed dinner in 'Poo Restaurant' suprisingly it was nice haha! I ventured out and got a Tofu Noodle Soup and Jord tried a Red Thai Curry. The food portions out here aren't big enough for Jord but we usually manage as he has all my scraps :) The alley connecting our GH to the main street is filled at night with loads of dogs and as we walked down they would follow at our ... read more

It was an early 9am start for us (yawn, haha!) followed by a 3rd class train ride to Ayuthaya. the train was really hot but bearable and we both dozed on and off for the 2hr journey. Outside the open train windows we pass little huts that people live in made out of wood and corrugated iron, people roam the train lines collecting rubbish. As we get further from the capital the land gets swampy and the huts even more rickety, balanced on stilts and connected by wobbly looking, plank walk ways. The owner of our GH was a lovely midle aged lady who gave us a map and some suggestions of what to do. On our first afternoon we rode a tuktuk to some temple ruins. Wat Maha that was the first old temple we ... read more

After being pressured into tuktuk rides and package tours the day before our last night in Bangkok for the meanwhile saw us with a new determined attitude to master the city. We decided we would walk to a mall and to be fair we managed it well, with only a slight detour right at the beginning we managed the 5km trek. down the back streets where sales men are not so frequent. After finding our way there the air conditoned mall was a treat after the smells and sights of backstreet Bangkok. The mall was nothing like the ones in Dubai, it was more like an indoor market (agora style.) We made the most of it though, had some sushi for lunch and jumped in a cab home. Feeling very pleased withourselves that evening was fairly ... read more

Our first night in Bangkok went without a hitch, the street we stayed on was very busy and i massively wussed out and got a margherita for dinner whilst Jord was much braver and had the traditional Pad Thai (Noodles, egg and usually some meat.) The lampu guest house where we stayed was relatively nice, although we upgraded to aircon after the first night with just a fan, as whilst cooler then Dubai, Bangkok is clammy and the air makes you feel sticky. The hussle and bussle of Koh San road occupied the entire morning of our first full day. We had a quick breakfast before Jordan bartered away with a couple of the thousands of stall owners to get himself some flip flops and swimming trunks. Everbody wants a piece of you and whilst we ... read more

So it begins... We arrived at 3am local time on thursday. The minute we steped out of the airport the heat hit us in the face which after a long old flight was a bit much so we piled straight into a lovely air conditioned cab and headed to our friend Mike's flat. Poor mike had to be up for work at 7am so it was a quick catch uo then bed. Jord and I woke up after a lovely lay in (Mike has given up his bed for the time we are here) and hit the pool. there are three infinity pools downstairs that are perfect to cool off in but the ground is soo hot its difficult getting in them as you dont want to touch the floor! When Mike got in later on ... read more
