Peru - From: the scenic way back to Cusco through Chinchero
My family and I just got back from Peru too. I noticed that you also went to the Machu Pichu. Aren't the markets interesting? Definetly not what we were used to. Did you guys stay overnight there? We stayed at the Sumaq Hotel. I heard it is the only 4 star hotel in Peru. If you ever go back it worth it stay there. We booked our vacation through www.peru-inc.com. They really know how to cater their clients. No problems at all. Check them out.

Hey, i've been meaning to say...we recently took out a sub to National Geographic, and last month there was a big article on the political situation in Bolivia (and lots of good pics) and this month there is a pic of the Road of Death from La Paz. So I've been thinking of you folks a lot!

Wow, what a great thing to do Dahna, realise your childhood dream and volunteer at the same time! your butterfly with the blue wings is probably a Morpho - very famous amazonian butterfly. Lucky you. Kinda like seeing a Cairns birdwing (the green one) in Cairns, or the Ulysses (blue one on the pawpaw boxes). XXXClare btw, why is the date stamp on your blog so far ahead??

Beautiful pictures!! - From: Condorito National Park: birthplace of the Andean Condor
The pictures are really beautiful, thanks Dahna and Jono! The grass tufts with tall seed heads look like what is known here as a noxious weed, commonly called pampas grass!! ( I removed seed heads from pampas grass in Vincentia bush a few weeks ago.) I guess the pampas is its natural location; a pittoposporum would be a weed out there. I am VERY glad Dahna did not become a condor condiment! love Mum

Really glad to hear you're away from the ash cloud now. Checked out the link to Phillipe and Lawrence's website. With my smattering of half remembered school-boy French and a lot of guessing I could follow the parallel trip. Similar pics even. A very ghoslty image there of 2 of you at close up all covered in ash. Did the caption say something like "Would you give us a lift?" ? Hey I've never used 2 question marks together like that before. Is that legal?

Neither looked right so I checked in the old dictionary and both seem acceptable. Great to see you all fireside at Xmas and cuddling up in the snow. Or at least Paul and Jane are. I am really pleased to see that you Dans and Jane have kept up an old friendship from way back. I love looking at the pictures of you so happy.

reminder of happy family times around a celebratin table - From: Thanksgiving and goodbyes
Aaah how wonderful to see you all sitting around that table enjoying each other's company and enjoying fine food and drink. Reminds me of when we were all sitting around with you at the same table when we visited you in Vancouver sharing the local fresh salmon and berries. We'll have to a skype video cross to you when we have our Xmas day gather around at the Vincentia table. No that won't work. We don't have internet there and also day is night and night is day for us. So maybe we'll have some big pictures of you both at the table and be thinking of you.
