Hello and welcome to my travel log (I hope it’s not poo!). Here I will be updating it so you can keep up to date with where I am, and I what I have been doing. Hopefully you will be able to see photos of my exploits, and you can post me messages on the guest-book.
Whilst travelling through three different continents and 14 different countries, I plan to experience the full whack: visit centres of culture; try new types of fodder; meet a variety of interesting peoples from all backgrounds; become a Buddhist; and get hammered on many a beach!!
Ill mainly be travelling with 2 uni mates- Will Scott and Mike Smith, but along the way we will be joined by Chris Bull for the sun, and the fat piece himself, Danial Holtby in NZ. Then Im on my own in South America until meine freunden namen Dennis Meyer Hunt will join me in Rio. Rio?!
Although I’m more excited about England winning the World Cup in July, Ill be watching it in Australia and New Zealand! I know 2006 is going to be a sweet year, so keep track of my travels, keep in touch, and keep smiling!
As Chris Rea once sang, Ill be “Flying home for Christmas”! Indeed the end was Saturday as I flew into Heathrow after an eventful and fantastic 10months out of bonny old England. Seeing the grey and drizzly weather just reminded me how good it is to be English!! But before home-time, I had to visit Inca country. So in the last chapter of Jonny’s travels I travelled through Peru and of course, did the Inca Trail. I left La Paz on a wet Saturday morning and travelled to Copacabana where we spent a few days relaxing by Lake Titicaca. The town is very relaxed with loads of hippies selling jewellery everywhere. However, yet again the South American cuisine wanted to crush me and kindly gave me a bug that would last for over a week. We
... read moreHello and welcome to my penultimate blog for my travels, and will describe just how amazing Bolivia is. I think its probably my favourite country in South America, mainly as its so cheap. But also its full of culture- the Bolivian dress code is amazing and I will come back looking semi Bolivian, the people are incredible, the towns are nice, there is complete mixes of landscapes and finally, as Im a gambler, its always a risk eating anything as you may get the shits!!! So I left it last time when in Sucre. I only spent a few days here as there was not much to do. I did go and see some crappy dinosaur footprints that were in a vertical rock surface!!! And I did go and have some really tasty food from the
... read moreHola chicos y chicas and welcome to the latest instalment of Jonnys south american adventures. Since I last wrote I have done the proverbial shit loads!! I left Mendoza and spent 2 days in Cordoba, a nice little student University town full of nice buildings and little cafes everywhere. Did not get up to much other than wander around and play chess in the square with the locals as surprise surpise it was some sort of bankholiday; the day after Mothers Day! Not much to do so I headed to the capital for some free accommodation! Buenos Dias Buenos Aires! My first impressions of Buenos Aires were of how nice the city is, but I leant later that was because my Norwegian friends, Inga and Ina from my spanish school, were living in the most swanky
... read moreHola chicos y chicas. Tis time for another blog as Ive been pretty crap on the news front recently. Since I last left you I have travelled the full length of Patagonia from start to finish and have loved it. Sparse and barran, the landscapes were generally the same throughout. But the national parks hosted some of the most incredible views Ive ever see; it was well worth it. Me and Andy left Esquel with the intention of heading all the way to Ushuaia, but having bought our tickets and boarded the bus, we were dutifully informed by a nobhead bus man that there were no buses to Ushuaia the next day. Pissed off, we headed to Coromandel Rivadavia for the sake of it, a nothing town on the east coast of Argentina. We were woken
... read moreHola chicos y chicas. Yes tis true. I have finally left Barriloche after 3 weeks of learning spanish and generally having a great time. It was comfort to the extreme as I had my own bedroom and a television. Now Im back to the snoring fellow dormers and the poor sleeps!! The day after my birthday, I reached school only to find out me and Peter were to have a new teacher for my final week. Irupe, my original teacher, was great and very patient with us beginners. Now we were to notch it up a level with Silvia, a 29year old blonde Argy who was a great teacher, and fit! Bugger, how was I expected to learn now. Actually, the week was excellent, and I am very glad I stayed on for a 3rd week.

I have been 'so' busy learning new vocabulary and getting pissed off with verb grammer that I havent had time to fill people in on what ive been up to since arriving in South America. But a kick up the back side from my cousin has got me off and rolling on this new era of South American blogging!! So here I am in Argentina after almost 3 weeks in this faraway continent. Its been pretty amazing here but completely different from what Ive experienced whilst travelling elsewhere. As you would expect the language difference is a real problem, and one which

I fly to Chile tomorrow to start on the final leg of my trip, spending 4 months travelling around South America where I hope to return home fluent in spanish and with a tan!! So it has been a very eventful couple of weeks in New Zealand. I left you last time the day before Wills birthday in Roturua. For his special day we did something a little different and tried our hand at zorbing- this sport is quite stupid and involves sitting in a ball and getting rolled down a hill! We went for the triple wet one which meant all three of us got

It sure has been a memorable three and a half weeks there of which I have seen and done shit loads!! I last left you in Dunedin. Leaving that place was not despairing as, although ok, I found it to be quite dull. Driving out, however, we were faced with a snow storm across the hills along the northern road. Thankfully, in my hungover state, I managed to battle through. Our destination that day was Mount Cook, the little town at the foot of the tallest mountain in Australasia, and is one of the remotest place we have been to on our trip, literally miles from anywhere and there is only 1 road of
... read moreHello and welcome to the latest instalment of Jonnys New Zealand adventure. My last blog kind of described how beautiful this country is. Well nothing compares to Queenstown, a place of such natural beauty. Set on a lake with snow-capped mountains surrounding it, the palce is like a little winter wonderland sort of place- the sort of town you would find in the Alps but is a lot cheaper, nicer people without loads of pretentious skier nobheads, and warmer as its not that high! We stayed at the YHA, an excelled hostel that caters for all and is opposite the lake. However it is about 10minutes walk from the centre, so post pubs, the walk can be a bit chilly on the billy!! Starting the "Queenstown experience" we booked up for a bit of action packed
... read moreHello and welcome to the first instalment of Jonnys New Zealand adventures. So far we have been in this beautiful country just over a week, and I can categorically say its pretty good over here. Arriving in Christchurch last Monday, the one thing that I wanted to get sorted pretty quickly was organising a car, and as the title hints, we did! The first day in Christchurch was spent getting used to the surroundings. It was pissing it down and I needed to buy some warm clothes- so I bought a fleece and some trainers. We also briefly bumped into the Jeffs (Bully's call)- the deaf Irish girls who were on our fraser island trip. Sadly the not-so-jeff one wasnt present so the conversation was difficult!! Christchurch is a small little town that is pleasant on
