As the sun sets in Istanbul

So let me explain as to why I'm combining my 3rd and last day in this entry. Well, I cancelled my Edirne trip for a few reasons: 1. The bus price from Istanbul to Edirne was too much for my budget; and 2. The weather wasn't really the best to go out of the city. The weather was very gloomy; dark clouds everywhere, the ground was wet, and it looks like it might rain soon. I know I'm going to regret this decision sooner or later, but it's not like I'm not going back to Istanbul anyway. I expected alot of positiveness even before I came to Istanbul, and now that my trip is over, I know I should expect more the next time I come back to Turkey. Speaking of bad day, my 3rd day ... read more

If I can describe the weather in my 2nd day in Istanbul: PERFECT. But the whole day? Eh, not so much, but at least I was able to do everything as expected. Today is my traditional Bosphorus tour day, and the weather was much better than yesterday's. The sunny was finally fully visible, and the sunlight created a magical scenic view on the Bosphorus, that I had to eat breakfast outside - as if I didn't care if I get sunburnt. The tour stops at different ports throughout the Bosphorus, from the 1st port in Eminonu, to the town of Anadolu Kavagi on the northern part of Istanbul. Now I was a bit hesitant as to whether I should get off at Anadolu Kavagi or not, as I've seen alot of reviews regarding the town in ... read more

(Urk, another late blog. Yeah.) The end of the year 2011 is nearing, and so I just wanted to say: 2011 has been really a good year for me, not just because I was able to travel the world actively this year (being able to visit a total of 7 countries this year), but I am so thankful for so many things. Funny how I am able to write a list of what I'm thankful for, as it is Thanksgiving AKA Turkey (seriously) Day, and the fact that I am in Turkey right now! Before continuing my travel story, I would like everyone (whoever is reading this) to take the time to make a list about what you're thankful for this year. Sometimes we take things for granted, that we never realize that this might not ... read more

On the Edge of Western Cape

September 2nd 2011

It was our last day in Cape Town, so before we headed back to Johannesburg, we did the Half Day Cape Peninsula tour, which is probably the best thing we ever did in South Africa. After a rough night of sleeping & a good breakfast, we said goodbye to Adolph, which definitely made our stay at the hostel somewhat uplifting. The lodge might've been prison for us, but everything else was A-OK. Our tour guide, Bazel (who was of white descent), introduced himself a bit as he picked up other people from different hotels around Cape Town. As the tour started, we had a short stop at a viewpoint of Camps Bay, where we saw a perfect view of the Twelve Apostles. We drove towards Hout Bay afterwards, and saw a spectacular amount of houses surrounded ... read more

What's up bloggers?! I guess it's safe to say it's been a while since I last posted, considering this post is super late! Well anyway, just wanted to let everyone know that I'm pretty much inactive in the blogging world, due to real life work and lack of inspiration. But I will always try my best to put up blog posts about where I've been recently... which is Cape Town, one of the cities that I've always dreamed of visiting! Cape Town is actually no. 1 on my travel dream list, so you bet I was excited for this trip! Due to time constraint, me & my mother were only able to stay in Cape Town for just one night, but it was all worth it. We flew to Cape Town via Johannesburg, and it was ... read more

Just by searching for the image of Mont Saint-Michel on Google, you will realize that at one point in your life, you must see this place in person. Just by looking at the whole facade of the island, it is very mind-blowing and weird. As a huge Final Fantasy fan, this is one of those places that I can easily picture seeing at any FF games, so there is no doubt that I had to visit this place. My visit to Mont Saint-Michel was basically a daytrip from Paris. Yes, it can be done - it's feasible, but you have to be concerned with time management. Not only do you have to take a 2 hour train, you also have to take an hour bus ride (and that is only the one way trip alone). My ... read more

Wow. When was the last time I updated this blog? I really can't blame anything for my absence, other than lack of inspiration & my very busy schedule. Just so you all know, I'm currently living here in Paris for only 2 months, and I am set to go back to Hong Kong in just a few days. I won't say anything about my business here since it's pretty personal. Also, this is a travel blog, not a diary, so let's keep it at that. I'm going to make this blog post short & easy since 1.) I'm still pretty busy, and 2.) I have SO MANY, MANY things that I'd like to share that this post might turn into a huge trainwreck. (!!!) ... So! When I first mentioned to my friends back home that ... read more

So I'm just going to come out and say it. After living in Hong Kong for almost 4 years, I have never been to Macau before. Yep! It's pretty ironic since it's only about an hour from here, right? Well, I finally had the chance to see Macau for myself today, and I have to say - the city was very spectacular and unique. And hey, what do you know - that means I've already been to 4 countries this year, and it's not even halfway of 2011! I started very early today, waking up at 7:00 to catch the 8:00 TurboJet service to Macau. Unfortunately I got a bit late & wasn't able to catch that one, but the bright side is that the ferries to Macau are very frequent; they leave from Hong Kong ... read more

... and I'm back! With full motivation, I finally decided to visit the last island on my Outlying Islands itinerary - though it wasn't quite what I expected it to be. The island that I visited today is called Tung Lung Chau, and it's located very near on the eastern side of Hong Kong Island. Getting to the pier wasn't really very hard, as I tried to follow the instructions carefully from my source. The kaito service to Tung Lung Chau leaves every weekends from Shau Kei Wan Typhoon Shelter, located on Sai Wan Ho area in the eastern side of Hong Kong. There is also a kaito service from Sam Ka Tsuen, but since getting to Sai Wan Ho is easier because the area has its own MTR, I decided to go with that one. ... read more

February 9th 2011

I just arrived from Lamma Island today, and I still have no idea what it's title should be. Lamma Island honestly looked like Cheung Chau and Po Toi island combined. Add some foliage & land consolidation, and there you have it - Lamma Island. I left Tung Chung today at 7:30, as I was already pretty confident on how to access the Central Piers from the Hong Kong MTR. There are two main piers in Lamma Island where the ferries from Central go to - Yung Shue Wan and Sok Kwu Wan. The ideal itinerary in Lamma Island is to hike from Yung Shue Wan and all the way to Sok Kwu Wan, so going to any of the two piers makes no difference if you're going to do the hike. I decided to take the ... read more
