The waters between Fremantle and Mauritius were quite calm, not what we expected! After long days at sea we finally arrived in Mauritius a little earlier than planned....what a welcome sight Port Louis was and John and I were quite excited to be there as our bestie was picking us up at the Caudon Waterfront at 10am. So off the ship as soon as we could with Renate and Ivan and had a quick look around the waterfront and also the Central Market, I always like to stroll around markets wherever we go as it gives an insite as to how the locals live their daily life. Caudon Waterfront is relatively new with lots of shops, bars and restaurants a busy little area. Then a few blocks away to the Central Market to have a stroll ... read more

Well home long enough to catchup with the kids, wash and iron clothes, swap cases and we are on our way again. Flew to Sydney Tuesday 26th March and met up with everyone and we all stayed at the Sofitel Sydney, Pat and Gordy came up from Leongatha Sunday, Jude and Chris flew from the UK and arrived Saturday and Ivan and Renate from Brisbane met us at Sydney Airport Tuesday and we caught a taxi together to the hotel. Dinner was excellent at the Atelier Restaurant Sofitel and we met for Happy Hour in the Champagne Bar at 5.30, so lucky they had a posh champagne company doing tastings of their whole range of champers....we all certainly had our fill with gorgeous charcuterie as well! Winning! Breakfast Wed morning was delish and John spotted our ... read more

So the second week we are more or less in the centre of Ubud. Staying at the SenS Spa which was a great spot and a nice hotel. Whilst in Candidasa one of my back teeth crumbled at dinner one night but hard to find appointments up there so made an appointment in Ubud few days in advance! Lots of nerve pain but kept up the Panadol until we could get there. Anyway ended being a pretty bad infection, so three root canals cleaned out. Packed with antibiotics, filled and temp crown, loads and loads of anaesthesia and also oral antis to take til next visit, over two hours in the chair that first visit. Also fell over on way to dentist as some paths terribly broken and uneven then when we were heading out for ... read more

We were not going to venture back to Bali as it is just so overcrowded down in the Kuta to Seminyak area BUT John came across some fantastic fares just $750 return for the two of us, so here we are! Booked our taxi transfer on Booking.com and that was perfect good price and were messaged the night before and day of the flight, was there waiting for us, in no time in the car and on our way, two hour trip to Ubud. Now they have E-gates we were out of the immigration area in probably 10 minutes from landing but the luggage took an hour to come out....improvement in some areas and worse in others. By the time we arrived at our beautiful little guesthouse we were both suffering whiplash.....I dont think the driver ... read more

Arrived in Junee Sunday and so lovely to see Diddles and Amanda are in their lovely new country house on the outskirts of Junee. It has taken a LONG time to get built as it is a specialist build with all beams dowelled together with no nails etc. So nice and well deserved after waiting sooo long! Very picturesque spot overlooking the town of Junee. Diddles took John for a tour of the abattoirs in Junee and John was very impressed with the automated system that Diddles designed for them and they process 5,600 head of sheep per day, Diddles is a very clever fellow! We left Junee Monday 23rd and headed to Wang, stopping over in Holbrook for lunch at their famous bakery. Weather is getting cooler and needing long pants and windcheaters even though ... read more

From the Pubs in the Scrub we drove to Walgett and did a free camp in the local park just on the outskirts of town, which was well set up for campers with toilets, showers and designated camping spots, some of these country towns and very friendly towards RVs, not that we need it but it is there if you do. From Walgett we drove east about 70 odd klms to Burren Junction which is well known for its mineral pool with RV camping onsite, but we were so disappointed it was closed for summer???? So then we thought no point hanging around here so drove down through the Pillaga Forest and Scrub, nice drive but roads are not the best and camped in Coonamble Showgrounds which was another great spot. On arriving we found the ... read more

After leaving Caloundra we climbed over the great divide which was a bit windy in patches but went through green pastures and cattle country and pretty little towns on the way. By the time we arrived at our campsite at Kumbarilla which was about 5pm we had well and truly got out of the hills and across onto the more flat roads, the campsite was great well off the road and we slept like logs. Friday we went onto Moonie and stopped for a break and morning tea, after passing loads of gasfields and even oil which Santos seem to control....Moonie a quirky little place with lots of John Murray art on display, we are looking forward to seeing his gallery when we get to Lightening Ridge....from Moonie we went further on to St George, we ... read more

Had 6 beautiful days in Bundaberg, lots of jobs to be done and catch up with cousins. Friday new windscreen in car, then to John's cousin's David and Selena for a BBQ dinner! John hasn't seen this cousin for over 50 years....and it was like we have known them all our lives....very easy to get along with and so hospitable! We had a ball with them and their son Jarred was home for a few days...he does FIFO in WA....a wonderful family! Saturday tour of the Bundaberg Rum Distillery which was great fun and a few free tastings after the tour, then I had to come back to the van to cook dinner to take over to Selina and David's......and a beautiful swim in their pool! Also caught up with David's sister Robyn as well which ... read more

Got away from Winton by 7am on Sunday morning, had breaky en route and arrived in Jericho around 11.30am, our camp for the night Redland Park on the local waterhole, nice spot with toilets, good for overnighter, then onto Emerald Monday just about 3hrs east. Had made a booking for 2 nights, got out and about after we arrived, down to the local info centre and got a few maps of walking trails etc and as we walked back we noticed big billows of smoke coming from behind the caravan park, no one seemed too worried about it but lots of smoke! John awoke at 3am and said he couldn't breath because of the smoke, it was hot so we had the van all opened up, so he escaped to the car for a couple of ... read more

Our first two nights in Winton we spent about 4klms out of town at the Long Waterhole which was a lovely spot right on the edge of the waterhole. Lots of other campers but pretty well spread out so no one was on top of each other. Sunday we moved right into town to the showgrounds which is where a lot of people are coming for the festival which commences on Tuesday. Moved the van into town on Sunday as we had paid for 7 day park at the showgrounds, well set up with power and water and all facilities, showers and toilets etc but she is windy and dusty! Walked down to the North Gregory Hotel for dinner on Sunday night and it was better than the basic pub grub, we both thoroughly enjoyed our ... read more
