It's time to prepare for the LO-O-O-O-NG TREK homeward. After arriving back in Bangkok from Delhi we rested for 3 days before the long flight back to Canada. We were so fortunate to get the best flight possible .... ONLY 21 HOURS in the air .... and then REGINA. I was dreading it and yet in one way really looking forward to getting a little more settled in our own bed at night. After two days in Regina we were ready to GO AGAIN ......... it was soooo cold we could hardly move. Off to calgary and then on to California where we had a cruise booked for the Mexican Riviera ..... AHHHH ..... warm air again !!! Just in time for my 67th B'day on Feb.28th. Ya gotta LUV IT !!! ... read more

Well, Happy New Year ..... Ya, ya, I know ... where have I been?? Well I found this just takes up too much time. I'll post some pictures but this journal stuff is just too time consuming :-( How blesseed can 2 people be ..... to have their kids and grandkidlets join them in Thailand for the beginning of a new year. Never a dull moment as we explored the floating markets, the night market, the malls, the wats, the restaurants , the back alleys and the Klongs of Bangkok and the surrounding area. ... read more

After 4 days in Bangkok ( mostly getting MY body “time-atized” to Thai time … not as easy this time as it has been in the past :-( ) we taxied to the beaches of Jomtien to check into the Grand Jomtien Palace Hotel….. the new Chalet Wing. The day after arriving in Jomtien we were treated to the experience of the Loy Krathong Festival. It is one of Thailand’s best preserved traditions offering tourists a unique cultural experience, and should not be missed if you’re lucky enough to be in Thailand during this time. The streets were filled with families all along the beach celebrating the “Festival of Lights”. This festival occurs on the full moon of the 12th lunar month, this year it was Nov.12th. All over Thailand, rivers and waterways are set aglow ... read more

We flew out of Regina Nov. 6th, leaving the cold weather behind us , and arrived in Bangkok 22 hours later to a balmy 30*C. After 4 in-flight movies( the only memorable one was Mama Baby with Tina Fey) , 3 full meals( not sure which was breakfast , lunch or dinner as we kept meeting the sun all the way), quite a few peanut snacks ( didn’t think they still served those on flights anymore ?? ) , and the better part of the novel “The Shack” by William P. Young completed, we arrived in Bangkok minus one of our pieces of luggage …… and wouldn’t you know it, the one with Christmas gifts in it!! By the time we “hit the sack” at the Eastin Hotel in Bangkok, after reporting our missing bag, it ... read more

Ya, ya , I know ……. by the look of this blog it appears like we “summered over” in Palm Springs area and never got back to Regina in the Spring. Well, we did!! Got back to Regina that is!!! Just NO TIME to blog!!! We arrived back at home at the end of April, in time for the income tax “due date”, and spent the summer with Tasha, Dave and the kidlets with us in Regina from India. We had a GREAT summer and now it’s time to take to the “road “again, or should I say “sky” (this year it’s “sky”…. at least on this leg of our winter journey ).... read more

March 15th 2008

We arrived back in La at the end of February to more warm ocean breezes and sunshine. After a couple days at the Ocean we headed inland to Palm Springs area. We had planned on renting a condo for the month of March but after spending a couple days searching the local papers and billboards in the area we settled on a "park model" ( a permenant mobile home with a yard and a place for our RV ) in a resort in Cathedral City called DESERT SHADOWS. The many features that were available to the residents sealed it for us: 2 Large & Well-Maintained Clubhouses Plus 3 More Satellite Clubhouses An Indoor Pool With Large Spa & Co-Ed Sauna Olympic-Size Lap Pool Total of 6 Pools, 5 Spas & 3 Saunas Sunken, Lighted Tennis ... read more
