:) I was going to spend Christmas day on the beach, but I will be coming back from the Northern part of Ghana, so I doubt I will be able to get there by then (plus many of the hotels are booked). Kelly (another CIDA intern) and I are planning on spending Christmas at a guesthouse that also cares for young adults and children with special needs before we hit the coast (perhaps New Years Eve/Day will be spent on the coast or on the Volta!!!) My return flight to Seattle is February 9th...but I have a feeling that I will be changing my departure date!
Happy December 1st! Hi Jody: the boys opeend the first doors on their advent calendars this morning: crazy season has begun. Jakob got ready for school this morning without a tiny hint of prodding from Scott and I (thinking that since it is now December he better start putting on a good show for Santa asap).
One time when I was in Hanoi (also equally hot and summerish) someone's cell phone went off to the tune of jingle bells..you will always remember these surreal moments!
Do you have plans for Christmas (on a beach?) and do you know what your return date will be?
Have a wonderful day: it is dark and dreary and slushy in Halifax....and my 3315 students are writing their final exam. I KNOW you don't wish you were here!
Hey! Great to read such a long and detailed post after such a length of time! I am glad that the work experience seems to be going so well now. Are you starting to feel anxious for the time to come to an end or can you not imagine leaving? I am so proud of you after all the discussions and work related to this!
Talk to you soon!
Cathy
PS: the Shit truck picture is so going up in the network office.
Jealous! Hey Jods.. Sounds like the people there are really nice. That is good to hear. WIsh i was there with you experiencing all this cool stuff.. like cellphones :). I laughed out laugh at the favorite song comment.. tell him he needs to have one. I will definitely continue reading these. And probably post some useless comments ! Take care, talk to you soon!
Jody's in sales?... Hey Jody! Another Great post! Funny: I had thought that the puppies were a completely random thing when I saw that but obviously this a common commodity for sale: I hope they're sold for pets!! But can't imagine why one would feel compelled to purchase a puppy in morning traffic....
So the next update I expect to learn of you walking through traffic selling plantain chips and towels from a hamper on your head! Maybe you'll earn more than what you make at the internship!...xoxoCathy
Great to hear from you! What a great first entry, Jody!
I can 100% relate to what you are describing. It sounds like you have connected with wonderful people and are soaking up (literally!) the culture: is it a complete culture "shock"? In a few weeks, you will be a tro tro pro! Craccra!! Craccra!! :0)
I look forward to reading more and hope that the job is off to a good start as well!
