It used to be an important seaport for trading. It is now famous for some very well preserved traditional houses and buildings in the centre, as well as tailors where you can have clothes made overnight for very cheap. It is a tourist magnet and people seem to love it. In short, we hated it. We planned to stay 4 days and have clothes made but [View Full Entry]

Halong Bay + Extreme sun = SWEAT! Well, we had booked our trip to Halong Bay and set off without any problems. Bus was full of tourists from all over the world, but the island was full of Canucks! Cheap, fast, and oh so yummy Dan and I arrived in Hong Kong on Tuesday safe and sound. If you have to spend over 15 hours on an airplane, you could definitely do worse than Cathay. We tried so hard to stay awake after arriving in Hong Kong and even ventured out to buy buns but by seven o'clock we were fast asleep! Over the next two days we walked around in the 34 degree heat visiting Hong Kong Park, Victoria Peak, the Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastery, Ma MoTemple all the while experiencing the famous Star Ferry and Hong [View Full Entry]
