EUROPEAN CAMPING TOUR 35 DAYS 12 COUNTRIES DAY 6 AX LES THERMES TO BARCELONA TUE 12-JUL-05 Service Stop at Andorra Shopper's Delight. Beautiful (& steep) trek through the Pyrenees to get there. Electronics, sporting gear, alcohol & smokes etc etc you'll find it and it'll be going like a baby hen.. (cheap cheap.. getit? ahh..) It was like a huge duty free shopping centre. You could be stopped at the border to have your quantities of grog etc checked. We weren't though. [View Full Entry]

EUROPEAN CAMPING TOUR 35 DAYS 12 COUNTRIES DAY 6 AX LES THERMES TO BARCELONA TUE 12-JUL-05 Leaving the beautiful little mountain scene we were surrounded with at our campsite, we continued to drive onto Barcelona. Claudia was most annoyed regarding the events of last night but I think she handled it rather well by giving us the usual start of the day song (which I still don't know the words too - Queen, Don't Stop Me Now) and then the spiel about what we would be doing for the next few days. Then, she let rip with the dressing down. It [View Full Entry]

EUROPEAN CAMPING TOUR 35 DAYS 12 COUNTRIES DAY 4 PARIS TO LIMOGES SUN 10-JUL-05 Leaving 9am we drove south through the Loire Valley. Pleasant looking area reminded me of a greener version of home. We had lunch at the Chambord Chateau. An impressive castle building I considered buying for my Nan. We also had a special stop at a WW2 Nazi plunder village/museum. This had been a small quiet village until the atrocities of WW2 saw it destroyed by bombs and soldiers. It was a very haunting site to see particularly the graveyard memorial. Our driving continued, playing [View Full Entry]

I´m okay Europe » France » Île-de-France » Paris
Hey Guys. Just a quick mail to let everyone know I´m ok. I took a bus out of London about 1-2 hours before the stuff happened which was quite stunning. I´m heading through on my Europe tour and I´ll be uploading my photos and country blogs when I get a better chance. It´s been a great trip so far and everyone here is wonderful. 44 people, half boys, half girls. The camping bit is great. I´ve got the tent erection/de-erection down to a fine art. We´ve got an awesome cook and a great tour manager who knows so much about this [View Full Entry]

EUROPEAN CAMPING TOUR 35 DAYS 12 COUNTRIES DAY 1 LONDON TO PARIS THU 7-JUL-05 In true Jodes style I almost missed the bus which would have been a really uncool way to start my European escapade. I arrived on time to check-in, have my bag weighed etc then was waiting outside for the bus to be called and loaded. After a time I thought "hmm" and went looking. There were quite a number of other tours leaving about the same time so there were many excited people and a lot of luggage to wade through. Fortunately I found my bus still [View Full Entry]

Scotland Is Beautiful. I think someone is telling porky pies about the weather in Scotland.. I was there for 10 days and it rained in total about 1/2 a day... Spent a few days in Edinburgh seeing the sites, visiting the pubs and meeting the people. There are a huge number of non-Scots in Edinburgh and, as I found out later, it's not a place to judge the rest of Scotland by. It's more the multi-cultural tourist centre for access into Scotland than anything else. A few good things to see though so it's a must-see. Heaps of souvenir shopping should [View Full Entry]

What trip to London would be a trip if you didn't stand for an hour and a half in the hot sun (yes, it seems England is having a heat wave) to watch men in big beehive hats march around and their band play American songs. I'm not really sure about that last bit but the couple beside me seemed pretty positive it was. Yes, the Changing of the Guards. Now having bagged it a little it actually was a really good show of drill and ceremonial. They had some awesome timing and just nailed every command. Plus their shoes were [View Full Entry]

Stonehenge. In my opinion the most magnificent thing about Stonehenge is that there are so many unknowns about it that it leaves people free to make up their own minds. This coming week is the Summer Solstice. The biggest event to happen at Stonehenge. 25000 people will descend upon the site with 25000 reason why it's special to them. I spent a few hours there, walking around and simply sitting and contemplating. Art, religion, science or simply coz it's the tourist thing to do.. every one has their reasons. I could tell you the reason it was special to me but [View Full Entry]

Howdy Peoples. Thought I better get around to writing a London blog. I've even got photos for this one. (Note for digital camera owners: learn how the camera works before talking priceless pics or after backing up said pictures. I had a bonehead moment and lost all my photos from Bangkok and the first few days here.. I was upset but, with therapy, I'm getting over it. Thanks for asking.) I've done just about every tourist thing to do in London. Seen a musical, saw a movie premier with movie stars etc, Big Bus tour (good value), London Aquarium (fantastic place), [View Full Entry]
