Arrived in Cambodia from Saigon after 6 hours on the bus - the shortest trip so far I think!!! Luckily we picked up a hotel rep just before we arrived at the bus station to guide us to his tuc tuc and take us to his hotel as the bus was swarmed with Cambodians pulling us, shouting in each ear and holding up guesthouse notices for us to go with them... it was quite overwhelming!! Phnom Penh is a mix between old and new, a very friendly city with alot of character. We headed to the riverside to check out the area, really lovely at night as it is all lit up, with loads of street sellers & unfortunatly quite a few begging kids...but instantly you get a feal of what Cambodia is all about ... read more

Ok guys so the last week has been hectic jumping on and off buses but Vietnam is so big in the time scale we have its been the only way to do it!! We love Vietnam although hit Hanoi after a 24 hour bus journey across the border from Loas with our heads hung out the window for air and were greeted by the craziest city ever. Everyone drives mo - peds , there is no traffic signals, no left or right, no stop or go and no limit to what or how many you can fit on a bike. I think within the first 30 mins of being there I saw a cow!!!... on the back of one bike, a refridgerator on the back of another and a family of 10 on another. We ... read more

So after a crazy trip around Chian Khong in Fathers Pauls 4X4 looking for sunglasses for Jo we hit the road to Loas ....well road ..boat..tuc tuc..border control...more tuc tucs and then a 7 hour slow boat ride to a small town just off the river. When we arrived we had to restle the loas villagers which had jumped on the boat for our bags which they were carrtying off and wanting to charge us before they would give them back. We stayed one night in this crazy village called Pak Beng before heading another 7 hours on the slow boat to Luang Prabang. The slow boat journey was ok - pretty uncomfortable but the mountains either side and fisherman and caves made up for it...the scenery was beautiful. Luang Prabang is an awesome little ... read more

So after a very fortunate meeting with Marie during our plane ride from Singapore to Bangkok we finally headed up to Chiang Khong to visit the ' Catholic Mission of Wiang Kaen' which has been the highlight of Thailand so far. The warmth we felt from the center and the welcome from Marie and the Sisters and Father Pauls humour kept us laughing all night. So spent 3 days in the orphanage which was excellant and made a massive impression on us as we were n't that impressed with thailand so far - we were far north in the mountains amoungst villages of the Hmong Tribe where I think little westerners would have experienced what we did in the time we where there. The kids at the centre were from a northern tribe called Hmong ... read more

So after 5 days in the bustle of Bangkok ....weaving in and out of westerners down Koahsan Rd... avoiding the tuc tucs after our 30 baht trip around bangkok stopping at a never ending supply of tailors and bartering anything and everything we headed back into the jungle. Bangkok is a pretty cool city - just a bit too crazy for us right now!!!! Our first night proved the most amiusing after finding a small thai cafe for a bottle of Chang Beer (....ooh never again - the worse headache!!!) we had a lock in with a group of local guys; Kung, Porch, Ping, Pong and ........Ben!!!! Following that we chose to be the tourist thing and go to the 'Grande Palace' and a few other temples ....although I did leave Jo to go to ... read more

The Village had little running water and a few houses with no electricity so we were there to build a “Water Gravity feed System’ from the source of the river 4km away into the village. The project was challenging and a lot of hard work but very rewarding. The Villages spoke Dusan as their first language and Malay second and very little English so they were not familiar with white people and were very ... read more
