Hello everybody! Can´t beleive it´s only 5 days till Christmas Guys! It feels weird knowing what it´s like at home and how different it is here! We´re all in Cartagene at the moment and we have been since we arrived in South America, and it´s really beautiful here and they like to go in for all the Christmas lights and decorations so it does feel a bit Christmassy. Must say though, the selfish side of me is enjoying the no hassel side of Christmas away from the present buying pressures!! So, what have we been up to?? I´ve got so much to update you on, i think more than a month possibly! So, i´ll keep it short, if poss, and then load as many photos as i can up. So, first i´ll write up what´s happened ... read more
Ok, so we left Isle De Ompetepe and headed for San Juan del Sur. God, feels life ages ago! Stayed there for almost a week and had a great time with the guys we´d met on the island. We did some beach time, boogie boarding and a fair few big nights out, which usually ended up with all of us paddling in the sea chatting some kind of rubbish enjoying the feel of the warm sea inbetween our toes. We also managed to get a room for $10pn for the 3 of us! After San Juan we went to San Jose for 4 nights. Nice city, most developed one we´d come accross, and most expensive. Hostel was OK though and we watched a fair bit of telle in between the downpours and whilst one of several ... read more
Hola Amigo's, commo estan??? I'm all good, well have had a hangover that lasted almost 40 hours but now that's passed am back on top form again! Well you'll be glad to know that i don't intend to write as much as i did last time, but then again, i never did last time so we'll see! We stayed in Granada for just 2 nights in the end and felt pretty much the same about it as we did Leon. That is, not that impressed. It was a really pretty town with loads of multicoloured houses and churches, but apart from walking down and around the streets we couldn't seem to find much else to do there. We visited it's tourismo area and that was absolutely deserted. It was on the lake of Lago de Nicaragua ... read more
So, like I said, we eventually did leave Leon. At the last minute we decided to head to a place called Pochomil on the coast further towards Costa Rica to get some more sea and that cooler sea breeze. Leon made us want to escape the town scene. Pochomil is a small seaside village on the pacific coast. The beach was like nothing I’ve seen before, it was immense, stretching as far as the eye could see in either direction. The sea itself was lovely and warm and the whole beach was more or less deserted. We seemed to loose several days in Pochomil. None of us could really sleep the first night as it was so hot and my bed was awful, so the next day we just lounged on hammocks all day, snoozed, read ... read more
So, on to Leon now! It took us 2 days to get there and to be honest we were a bit disappointed with our first place in Nicaragua after hearing so much good stuff about the country. To get there we had to do the trip in two journeys. The first got us to Chouluteca in Honduras where we stayed the night in another scummy yet extremely cheap room, but where we did manage to find a Pizza Hut!!! So we obviously chose to eat there…. The next day we got going early and got to Leon about 4 in the afternoon. It’s a really pretty town and very very cheap! We stayed at a place called Big Foot Hostel. It was the first time that we've stayed in a hostel like that. Our room was ... read more
So, I think the last time I wrote we were in Xela. Didn’t think that much of Xela to be honest, we found it dead boring and were in bed by 10 both nights we were there! Bit weird really cos everyone who we’ve met who have been to Xela said they loved it. Perhaps we just seemed to miss where everything was at, and the fact we were there on a Sunday and Monday night. So, early Monday morning we decided to make our way to El Salvador. The journey was going pretty smoothly until about 2 o’clock in the afternoon when the heavens decided to open. This wouldn’t have been a problem except that or bags were on the roof of the bus, and rucksacks for some reason do not seem to be made ... read more
Hola!! Yes i am still alive, sorry i've not been bang on the blog but with so much going on it's dificult to find the time and a good internet cafe.... So, what have we been up to over the last month???? Well, we finally left Pana after being there for a full month. It was really sad to leave actually cos we got to know all the locals, fell in love with the lake and the town itself and just generally had an absolutely fantastic time there. OK, this is gonna be tricky to write up actually cos we did so much, but here goes: We arrived in Pana on a Wednesday evening, i think it was the 13th September. We were weary from carrying our rucksacks half way across Mexico and Guatemala. However we ... read more
Just to explain quickly, i have a load of old photo's on my camera that i want to keep and that's why they're on here!!! So, i better start right from the begining. Seems like ages ago already and we've done so much! Oh, BTW my spelling is atrocious cos i normally have spell check so apologies in advance..... Think last time i wrote we were just about to go on a walking tour of Mexico City. It lasted 4 hours and to be honest i'd had enough by the end of it. It was all history, art, architecture etc. which i can take for an hour or so but not much longer. However, did find out we were staying on the 3rd biggest square in the world and that Mexico Citr is built on water. ... read more
I am here!!!! Arrived in Mexico City late last night after travelling for just over 24 hours!! Staying in Mundo Jouno hostel and it's very nice. Got a 6 bed dorm for the 3 of us and the opther beds are empty at the moment which is all good. Have our own toilet and shower and had a beautiful hot shower this morning - need to make the most of them!! Off on a walk in a bit. Its at 10:00, which we knew, but unfortunately we got the local time wrong and were ready at 9am - doh! However, that's given us some time to kill so perfect to get on line and update and sort some more bits out - like where we're staying in Acapolco! We arrived in Mexico and had all forgotten ... read more
