On Sunday (18th October) Damian and I caught up with John and Daniel from our tour and went on a walking tour through Dublin. Our tour guide was a young irish guy and he walked us through Dublin and told us about the history of Dublin. We went past Dublin Castle and through the famous Temple Bar area. The River Liffey runs through the middle of Dublin and there are a lot of bridges crossing the river. Two of the bridges that I took photos of are the Ha'penny and O'Connell Bridge. The Ha'penny Bridge replaced a ferry service that used [View Full Entry]

Saturday (17th October) was the last day of our Ireland tour and we left Cork and started making our way back to Dublin with a stop off in Kilkenny. Once again Kilkenny was a beautiful looking town and it was nice to walk through the streets. I found an awesome bakery that had the biggest merenguies I have ever seen so of course I had to get one - chocolate and hazelnut. It was so tasty, but I forgot to take a photo of it, bugger! We saw Kilkenny Castle and walked through town to the Cathedral Church of St Canice [View Full Entry]

On Tuesday 13th October we left Galway and made our way south along the west coast and we did a few stops throughout the day. The first one was to an old castle/house where we were supposed to walk around anti-clockwise once for good luck. Although I am not too sure how true that was because one of the girls on the tour actually fell head first down the bank on the side of the castle - ouch! Then we stopped at a Leprechaun Wishing Well where we said our name whilst throwing a coin using our right hand over our [View Full Entry]

Ring of Kerry Europe » Ireland » County Kerry » Killarney
On Wednesday our group (6 day tour) split with the 3 day tour group leaving us with about 14 people which I found to be a much better number. In the morning we went on a horse and cart ride through Killarney and to Ross Castle. We had a chance to go for a walk around the castle and get a few photos. On the way back I got to ride up front in the horse and cart. I was having a chat with the man 'driving' the horse and cart and he ended up giving the reins over to me [View Full Entry]

On Thursday (15th October) we left Killarney and our first stop was at a beach. The weather was quite 'fresh' but not freezing and the sun was shining so we decided to go for a walk down the beach and through the water. Far out, the water was absolutely freezing! First there was the inital shock of the cold water on my feet and ankles then it kind of went numb but then it was so cold that it just hurt. There were a couple of people surfing - craziness! We kept on driving along the coast admiring the ocean and [View Full Entry]

From Blarney to Cork Europe » Ireland » County Cork » Blarney
We thankfully left the Randy Leprechaun on Friday morning and drove east with our first stop being Blarney Castle where I kissed the Blarney Stone. It is supposed to give you the gift of the gab so I will see how that turns out! I really enjoy visiting Blarney Castle (I was there on my last trip) and the Castle and grounds are really beautiful. Kissing the stone is always an experience, who wouldn't want to slide backwards off the top of a castle and kiss a stone? We didn't have a lot of time here but I did manage to [View Full Entry]

We arrived in Dublin (Ireland) on Sunday 11 October in the evening and caught the free PaddyWagon bus for our first night at Paddy's Palace. Don't let the name fool you, it was no palace and being our first night in a hostel let me just say it was interesting. We luckily booked our own 2 person room but we both had a terrible sleep because we were right next to a train line and there were lots of weird and wonderful noises throughout the night. Oh well it was cheap and got us prepared for the week ahead. We started [View Full Entry]

On Friday (9 October) Damian and I headed into London for a little look around. We went to Trafalga Square and I climbed up and had a hug with the big lion (see photo!!). We had a look at Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. We crossed the Thames for a walk along the river (and past some crazy street performers). That night we were back in London for dinner and a show (Wicked) with Julia and Eleanore, a friend I went to school with who has been living in London for a few years. It was great to catch up with [View Full Entry]

Damian and I had an early start on Thursday (8th October). We met up with Julia in London then caught a train to Heathrow to pick up a hire car for the day. The plan for the day was to visit the Cotswolds. The places we visited were - Bourton-on-the-Water, Lower Slaughter, Upper Slaughter, Broadway and Chipping Campden. The Slaughters were my favourite places, they are really beautiful and would be the perfect place to spend a quite little weekend away - very peaceful and relaxing. In Broadway we managed to find the road to the Broadway Tower so we spent [View Full Entry]

Hi Everyone! Yes I am still alive (just been really busy and it has been difficult to find internet). I am back in London again but I need to catch up on the past few weeks. I arrived in London on Saturday 3rd October (wow that was ages ago). After finding my way through the maze that is the tube (and not very user friendly for those silly enough to be dragging suitcases) I met up with my cousin, Julia, who had moved to London a few weeks earlier to work for a year. We stayed in a hotel near Oxford [View Full Entry]
