* There are actually non-smoking sections in many restaurants, although the smoke is still pretty bad in most places. * No one drinks water here, and looks at me like I'm a Martian when I do (particular at Breakfast). There are a couple of days where we literally spent over $10 on water... yikes! I really don't get how everyone isn't dehydrated when all they drink is beer and coffee! * Love the breakfasts - amazing bread, cheese, veggies. * Surprised that we saw so many German tourists in Munich. * German's are AMAZINGLY great drivers!! * Have only missed cell [View Full Entry]

Some pics on our drive and a picnic we stopped to have. Note about Schneeballs... the guidebook said this is the worst local food and to skip it which we did but had to take pictures... it's basically fried dough. [View Full Entry]

On the Romantic Road again, after happening upon Harburg Castle we encountered Nordlingen. The only reason we went through the town is that we wanted to rent bikes as there were a lot of great bike trails, but couldn't find a place to rent them. We were going to leave as we couldn't find a parking space, when we realized there were A LOT of people all walking in the same direction, so we decided to also. As it ends up, there was a HUGE 3 day festival going on - Historisches Stadtmauerfest Nordlingen which is a three day festival that [View Full Entry]

All Rothenburg Photos Rothenburg was incredibly cute, even more so than Dinkelbuhl. Basically walked around, took a lot of pictures, had a great Italian dinner, and then did some more walking along the wall around the city. [View Full Entry]

Bold Text: Jessica Says: After leaving Dachau, we drove on the Romantic Road and the first town we encountered was Augsberg. It's a very quaint little city. Checked out a couple of churches, went to a HUGE outdoor Farmer's market, had a fantastic Japanese lunch (salad and tofu curry), great Italian dinner at this really happening restaurant (feta/spinach canneloni). The drive on the Romantic Road itself was truely spectacular!!! Could have spent a few days doing the whole thing but needed to move on as there is so much to see everywhere. Prior to getting to Augsburg, we happ [View Full Entry]

Dachau is the first of all the concentration camps, all of the others were modeled after it. Not really much to say about this, as going speaks for itself and the pictures I'm uploading don't do it justice... All Pictures taken in Dachau Concentration Camp [View Full Entry]

Second Third Day

 Europe » Germany » Bavaria » Munich
Thad Says: Another cold hard slog through this miserable country side, everyday I pray for death and it doesn't come (just kidding) Beautiful weather, breakfast at the hotel, walking around Munich, setup and had a picnic, went to several beer gardens, saw several cathedrals, rubbed holy water on Jessica's forehead - has not converted her yet, cleansed of my sins in the cathedral, feelin' funky fresh, went to the biggest garden in Germany, saw a guy surfing in a stream, best food so far was the roast pork yesterday with the skin attached, making plans to drive the Autobahn tomorro [View Full Entry]

Made it to Munich

 Europe » Germany » Bavaria » Munich
Jessica Posting: We made it safe and sound to Munich. It's pretty chilly here and drizzly, but fun regardless. First thing we have a 3 hr layover in Dusseldorf and immediately I'm reminded of Birgit... don't laugh, but yes, when I go to use the restroom! I immediately remembered that she doesn't like U.S. public restrooms because the doors aren't full length so no privacy... seeing those full length doors here (which I agree are MUCH better) made me think of her :) Anyway, 22 hrs after leaving Thad's apartment we arrive in Munich at our hotel, trying desperately to stay [View Full Entry]

It seems to be nippley out

Posting by Jessica Being anal like I am, I have to test out posting entries before we actually go :) So a quick update on our plans... We heard the other day, from a friend who was in Croatia beginning of September last year, that it's not the best time to go because it starts to become a little "dead". The earliest we would be there is end of September. If anyone has a comment on whether to go then or not, would love to hear it because we're about to pull it off of possible places to go. Although if [View Full Entry]
