Your Mom had just told me about your website, so I thought it was quite the coincidence. they are remarkable musicians, and it is just so exciting, thrilling even, to experience the creative way they approach the music, while being true to their traditional roots- we have a particular love of Irish music, as my sister is a wonderful fiddler, and our daughter is a step dancer. I look forward to future opportunities to hear Grada. thanks again- Laura |

| 1st October 2006 Rhodri | 2nd time lucky.... - From: yep... tired I'm sitting here in rainy Wales, currenlty in a daze of thought about how much I need too travel! Saved up all the money when I finished high school and was let down by all my mates, so bought a fast car instead, good but the wrong choice looking back. Anyhow cut to the chase, in 18 months I have over $18k of work shares that I've been paying into over the years, that I finally decided enough is enough......travel I will even if I must go solo. ( I'm not the best for major change, but once there I'm happy as Larry ). Like yourself I'm a keen and have a eye for photos, I've been published a few times but living by Holyhead ( you might know it as it's the port for Ireland ) the whole thing got a little stale and I need to see new things for my best work. ( what camera did you opt for? (d)slr or a Point and Shoot, as I'm in two minds as to carry a whole load of lenses or just get the top end P+S and enjoy it more? Sorry for the ramble that turned into, I only really wanted to say thank you for your blog as it's just made me depressed about being stuck in a dead end job that I hate for the next 18 months :) On a serious note, really thanks for your blog it's nice seeing other people's travels. My 'dream' travel is a few weeks doing all the major Europe sites but not as a tourist ( best pictures are the ones off the beaten ) and then for my lives dream of hitting New England for fall, then try and get some work in Colorado ( my Cousins both worked there for a few years, one ended up marrying the Aussie Snowboarding champ! ) for the winter, or possibly Lake Louise/Banff. Second part of the dream is hitting New York for Christmas. After that, who knows.. Thanks Rhodri Baker rhodri@rhodribaker.com |

| 11th September 2006 Maureen | - From: Revitalizing... Hello Jess, I stumbled across your blog when you were in Ireland back in February. I love your enthusiasm for the country and the music. When are you going back? I go home once or twice a year but live in CA so it is a long journey! Good luck with your tin whistle playing! Maureen |

| 6th August 2006 Paul | I can't stop playing - From: Unexpected side trip, The Boys on Bofin &, yes, you guessed it... back "home" Per usual Jess some great photo's....the one of you on the beach whistle, however, is my favorite...maybe someday you'll be a full fledged member of Terry, Brian and Brenna's "Inishbofin" |
| 5th August 2006 Terry | Island of White Cow - From: Unexpected side trip, The Boys on Bofin &, yes, you guessed it... back "home" Did you know Inishbofin means "Island of the white cow"? On a few occasions when Brenna, Brian and I played gigs we called ourselved "Inishbofin" just because we needed a name. It is an irresistable one. As usual, love the pics! |
| 3rd August 2006 Deniese | there's more girl - From: 1 or 2? (Westport) Yes the music, traditions and festivals are a huge part of being irish and for alot of 'tourists', an amazing insight to a different yet real part of our country. You have to understand that to be here and want to be part of all that makes you, Jess, alot more than a 'tourist', whether your surmane is Irish,Jewish, Mongolian or Chinese! you are part of and will remain part of this country forever. Your next step should be in my opinion to stay longer in a place and give yourself a real taste of irish life. It doesn't have to be today but maybe next time come to live here for a few months babe, i'm sure you ll feel less and less like a tourist each time you return. |
| 3rd August 2006 Deniese | Hey chick - From: Off the windy island! so you alright? | 1st August 2006 Nessa | You now get it .... - From: 1 or 2? (Westport) OK< I was waiting for this to happen, there is ireland at the surface and then there is Ireland. And you really get Ireland if you either grew up there, or like you, you are drawn to delve in to those things that formed us... like the themes in our music, or you feel that "thing" that pulls us born-there- Irish to want to be together and talk, take the piss, laugh and sing with abandon....Now next someone may teach you "our secret handshake"!! |
| 31st July 2006 Stefan | - From: Off the windy island! NICE! I love camping, but I wouldn't have loved THAT camping. |

| 9th November 2005 Pascal | Unbelievable - From: Finally... my Europe pictures Hi Jess, I was looking at your pictures on your website and you can't imagine what i saw. Look at this picture: http://www.jessrk.com/Europe%20Pictures/J%20-%20Switzerland%201A/Images/J%20-%207.25%20-%20Gimmelwald,%20Switzerland%20-%200470%20-%20hike%20-%20after%20storm%20wet%20at%20Slyvia's.jpg The woman with the blue T-Shirt. Do you remember her name? She comes from Switzerland, doesn't she? When I saw this picture, I was like.. Oh my Gosh!! She was my teacher in primary school when I was 9 or 10 years old. unfortunately, I didn't like her that much.. ;-) and that's the reason why I forgot her name ;-) Isn't that unbelievable? I got to know a wonderful woman like you from the other side of the planet and you met one of my teachers I had 12 years ago. ;-) That's sheer madness. All the best, Pascal |
