We snap pictures of the restaurant we ate at last night Butterfield Stage Co. Steakhouse. We remember it being very satisfying but had been too tired last night to notice the great Route 66 sign including the ldquoGet Your Kicks on Route 66rdquo verbiage in a heart shape http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/blog-384213.html Special Note to NonSubscribers A Note for Those Still Visiting Our SiteSubscribers to our site know exactly what we have added via an email they receive. However we know there are a lot of folks that are simply visiting periodically and thus may not catch what is new. For your info we are posting as if realtime and since we are currently catching up on our Route 66 trip you will need to scroll past the Florida Adventure http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Wisconsin/blog-381236.html Route 66 Adventure Days 1314 Day 13 Thursday November 20th Albuquerque NM to Gallup NMWe expected to catch a few things in Albuquerque before we left and then find we actually had quite a bit yet to see. Albuquerque is a great great Route 66 show if you follow the actual Route. Central Avenue is the nationrsquos longest main street 18 miles east to west. It is amazing that we missed so much of this when we were http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/blog-381242.html Route 66 Adventure Days 1112 Day 11 Tuesday November 18th Santa Rosa NM to Albuquerque NMWe catch a few sites additional sites of Santa Rosa as we leave town. We bypass going into the Route 66 Auto Museum so as not to get behind so early in the day. Too late we realize we probably should have wandered in given its unique offering of sixty restored classic cars and trucks on display. We head right to the expressway t http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/New-Mexico/Albuquerque/blog-378632.html Route 66 Adventure Days 910 Day 9 Sunday November 16th Amarillo TXWe decided to take a quiet day and enjoy the Packer game at a local sports bar a nice Irish place called Mulligans. Every other time we've done this while traveling we've always found a contingent of Packer fans. Well today there were no Packer fans and really no other fans around at all. There were only a handful of people besides us the whole t http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/blog-353234.html Florida Adventure Day 18 and Summary Day 18 Wednesday January 21st Normal IL to HomeWe had seen the steadily decreasing temperatures the last two days and were not surprised as they continued to plummet the further north we went. We were surprised that we really did not see that much accumulation of snow until we actually crossed the Wisconsin border. It was humorous that just as we approached the ldquoWelcome to Wisconsin http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/blog-376657.html Florida Adventure Days 1517 Day 15 Sunday January 18th Cocoa Beach FL to Orangeburg SCWe awoke to predictions of a sunny warm day. It was a shame wersquod have to leave on the warmest day since wersquove been in Florida. However we were keeping a close eye on weather in the Georgia Tennessee and Kentucky regions and needed to get on the road in order to get through there in between predicted storms. There w http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/blog-376634.html Florida Adventure Days 1314 Day 13 Friday January 16th Kennedy Space Center FLWhat a great day in spite of the chill in the air. We toured the Kennedy Space Center facility and then caught the bus to take the tour of the LC 39 Observation Gantry and the ApolloSaturn V Center and the International Space Center. In the end we only did the LC39 Observation Gantry and the ApolloSaturn V Center. The wind blew away o http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Florida/Cape-Canaveral/blog-374430.html Florida Adventure Days 1112 Catching UpWell...we are actually in Puerto Vallarta right now and turning our travel pages back to catch up for those who have been waiting at least they tell us they've been waiting. Those two plus Jerry were all firefighters together working for the City of Milwaukee Fire Dept. Retired now it was great to hear all the stories some heard before others new for Rita and to enjoy time together. We had thought there were other retired firefighters in the immediate area http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Florida/blog-362878.html Florida Adventure Day 3 Florida ArrivalWell we had lots and lots of rain starting out this morning. All we could think was 'thank heaven it was rain and not snow or ice.' The rain came in waves sometimes drizzle and other times near torrential. We were careful and got through all incoming rain andor standing water. Luckily we weren't anywhere near any flooding. Finally early afternoon we began seeing hints of http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/blog-360892.html Florida Adventure Days 12 On The Road AgainWe are back on the road after a busy and wonderful holiday season. We took a lot of razzing about only having posted the first 8 days of our Route 66 Adventure when we were gone over 30 days. We are still committed to going back and finishing that trip for all. There may be some downtime on this trip in order to do so. If not we'll for sure get it all done in Puerto Vallar http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/blog-360518.html Route 66 Adventure Day 8 Current StateEvery so often we feel badly about how seldom we are posting for this trip. However it only lasts a minute because we realize very very quickly that our fun and the uniqueness of our time together takes precedence over anything. It has been extraordinary in spite of requiring a lot more daily planning than we had ever figured. We are actually finishing day 30 and on our route ba http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/blog-352163.html Route 66 Adventure Day 7 Current StateWe are actually in Alamogordo NM tonight day 25 where we have finally caught up with some very sunny warm weather. We have made the turn toward home though it will take us another 810 days to get there. We're heading to Roswell NM tomorrow and assuming we aren't abducted by aliens there will continue on to stop and see family and friends along the way home. Now here's turni http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Oklahoma/blog-350534.html Route 66 Adventure Days 46 Even Further BehindHere we are actually on day 22 and we're still trying to post for days 46. We're going to forego much verbiage and let the pictures give a clue of what we've done in order to try and make some progress on postings. Who knows if we'll ever succeed at catching up. Obviously our priority is enjoying our time so guess you'll all just have to understand or not We'll be in S http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Oklahoma/Tulsa/blog-346771.html Route 66 Adventure Days 13 Finally Back on the Road...And it feels so good. We finally left Saturday November 8th after finally receiving a part for Jerry's scooter. We were expecting it Tuesday and since we had to stay to vote anyway thought that would work out to leave by Thursday. Oh well we're on the road now and that's what counts. The part arrived at 105 and we were already on the road at 140pm we were mor http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Illinois/blog-343870.html NW Adventure Day 25 Last Day and Trip Summary Special NoteWe did not want to write our final day's travel until we had caught up on the days we missed because a few of those days were some of the most special and would contain many of our best pictures. Those who subscribed you will have received emails for the individual days. For those that are visiting periodically the days we added that we had previously skipped are Days 4 http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/blog-334874.html Northwest Adventure Day 19 Trip CheckpointWe start the day tired and somewhat tempted to stay put for a day. However as we do an overall checkpoint on weather and timing for the remainder of the trip we find that we need to get through the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument today if we have any chance of seeing it in anything other than the rain predicted for tomorrow. We think about bypassing it altogether on http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Wyoming/blog-334671.html Northwest Adventure Day 18 Planning is KeyWe begin today with one of our more difficult planning sessions. We have only one day to play with given weather predictions of rain cold and potential snow within another day or two. We have many options from which to choose but we need to plan wisely so that we don't end up in the same position as last night driving in Yellowstone in the dark without adequate lodging facili http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Wyoming/Yellowstone-National-Park/blog-334398.html
