Hi again all. I am re-opening this blog after 3 years as I have travelled again (for a shorter period this time) to discover a part of the USA. Even if it was only for 3 weeks, we managed to drive more than 2500 miles through California and Nevada and managed to take a trip by plane, helicopter and boat to the Grand Canyon Arizona from Las-Vegas. I was more thinking of this holiday as an adventure as I have never been to United States before, and really wanted to live the culture, see all those amazing sceneries that I thought I would only see on TV as a kid. I wanted to see if everything I was dreaming about as a kid (Los-Angeles, the beaches, Hollywood, San Fran, the madness of Vegas etc.) were just ... read more

Hi all, Here I am in the last part of my adventure in SEA. I arrived in Bangkok and met with my mate/cousin where we were welcomed by water mixed with powder...indeed we arrived in the middle of the new year's celebration which consists of recovering everybody from top to toes with that mix: water pistol, water pipes etc, all weapons are good to spalsh everybody in the streets and bar terraces. The thing is that the street where our hotel was was closed to traffic and only pedestrians were allowed, which mean that we had to walk with our 20kg backpacks in the middle of the crowd being splashed without being able to defend ourselves: the crowd was like trying to walk in the streets of Dublin on a the St Patrick's night. We took ... read more

Hi all! This is it, another adventure is over...and what an adventure in Nepal! Indeed going there during the election wasn't the most relaxing experience but what a beautiful country, it was so worth it! From the start it wasn't easy for the nerves; indeed on my flight from Delhi to Kathmandu, the captain announced that we would most likely have to go back to Delhi as the weather was so bad that he couldn't land in Kathmandu. He said he would try a last attempt before sunset...which was the good one! after flying 3 hours above Kathmandu, I was there at last meeting with Manu. After 2 days in Kathmandu, we started our trek which was taking us to the Langtang region...we can say that we've seen it all: torrential rains, snow storm, nights at ... read more

Here I am, in the place I have always wanted to be: India! And so far I have to say that I am absolutely loving it! It took me about a week to adapt to the heat, madness of the traffic and the way things work in general regarding planning train, bus trips etc. When I first arrived in Chennai, I expected a smooth journey from my pre-booked taxi as I landed at 11pm and though that the traffic would be quiet at that time; My god, it was like Paris at 5pm, except that there is no rule here: no indicators, no rearview mirors and usage of the horn to warn people that you're there. Cars, Rickshaws, bycicles and pedestrians were all over the place...was wondering how on earth we got to the hotel without ... read more

Singapore and Malaysia was for sure the best of my travellings so far but as well the worse at the very end. The best as I was meeting up with Rosie. I spent 2 fantastics weeks with her in those 2 really great countries. The worse as unfortunately the day before Rosie was going home and I was going to India, my Grandfather passed away. I wanted to go home, was confused and so sad about all the situation. My mum and brother convinced me not to go home, that it was not what he would have wanted and that they knew I was with them. To be honest I know that if I had gone home, I knew I would have stopped all the travellings after that and then flew back to Dublin. Thanks a ... read more

On the 16th of January, I landed in New Zealand, Christchurch to be precised. We flew over the Glacier and the view was just amazing. I had kind of a temperature shock when I left the airport: it was 24 degrees which is good but trust me when you have spent 1 month at 35 degrees +, you need to re-adapt. What I read and heard about Christchurch wasn't really good; most of the people didn't like it and found the city boring. Well to my surprise I found this little city absolutely charming and beautiful, very laid back and the locals are very, very friendly. I spent 2 days there wandering around and went to the restaurants and bars recommended by the Lonely Planet...there are hibs of them and they are really, really good. I ... read more

On Friday 11th of January, I landed in Melbourne where Sophie and Andrew picked me up form the airport. Sophie is...humm...Manu's "CLOSEST FRIEND...". I was invited to stay with Andrew and his wife, Christelle aka Couinette, who is Sophie's sister. What can I say...I had a ball in there and really wish I had more time to spend in Melbourne especially with you guys. The way you've looked after me was just sensational. What we did there in so few days was just amazing: from visiting and going out in Melbourne city to driving the Great Ocean Road. The first night was class as we went straight from the airport to a house party where we had a dart contest...Andrew won easily (that's what you get when you spend the first 19 years of your life ... read more

I arrived in Brisbane on the 3rd of January. Steven came to the airport to pick me up; I was glad as it was p*ssing rain. On the way home we had a chat about Cricket...Obviously I said it was boring, he tried to prove me the contrary and so on. We bought loads of beers on the way anyway and sat down to watch some...Cricket. At last I understood the rules thanks to Steve who's been really patient and assertive (sorry Ed, he explained it much better than you ;) I met Kylie and little Olli and had a wonderful BBQ and marinated Chilli Prawns, AWSOME!! (Kylie's favourite word ;) From Brisbane I booked a trip to go to Fraser Island. I guess I'm just the luckiest backpacker cause the 2 days I booked were ... read more

I landed in Sydney on the 27th of January. Here the plan was to do loads of sight seeing and meet up with Cillian and his mates for new year's eve. What a great city! The harbours are absolutely stunning, the Opera House is incredible and the ferry rides to the beautiful beaches of Manly and Bondi are a joy for the eyes. You can find anything you want at anytime of the day or night...the 24 hours drinking can take its stoll though, especially when you are out with the Irish dudes ;0) New year's eve in there was just one of the best I've ever had! 2 fire works, the main one being at midnight, from Harbour bridge, Opera house and all the towers surrounding the Harbour. We were in the best spot as ... read more

Hi all, here we go, at last I found a moment to start my blog. As most of you know I landed in Perth on the 14th of December and met up with mighty Ed. I had a blast there having BBQ and mad nights out. From Perth we then went to Coral Bay which is the equivalent of the great bareer of reef on the west coast; a stunning place with a tiny backpackers hostel. There, we did some snorkelling, sight seeing and managed to take some pictures of reef sharks. One day I was doing some snorkelling among the fishes when a massive shadow appeared beneath me: it was a beautiful Ray...on the moment though it scared the hell out of me and kindda drowned, was a good experience ;)Obviously at night, we met ... read more
