Panelak
- From: A Short lesson on Prague's suburbs
2400 Kc as a month rent in panelak was maybe some 10 years ago. Even only a 30m flat is difficult to find below 10 000 including energy and water costs. The rents are comparable to austrian Vienna now (but in Vienna one earns 3times more ;-)

I'm not quite sure what you're talking about Josh... you're going to have to make yourself more clear... about the " Hmmmm" thing.

I like how you used "hmmmmmmm." in the picture of the statue of the thing from Harry Potter. Great pictures Kiddo- I love them all! Can't wait to see the rest of them in Myrtle Beach this summer!

Sorry about the generalizations - From: A Short lesson on Prague's suburbs
I did focus on the Panelak of the communist era in my blog, so I'm sorry if anyone was offended by my comments. I have visited some nicer suburban areas in Prague, and I understand there are a lot of great places to live in the sidlistes. However, some happen to be the poorest and roughest neighborhoods here. I only meant to provide people unfamiliar with Prague on a short lesson about the communist regime in Czechoslovakia. Sorry if I offended anyone.

"Ghetto Girl"
Panelaks - From: A Short lesson on Prague's suburbs
I'd recommend that you visit other areas of panelaks in the city. I am living in a panelak now (in Modrany) and find the area to be a welcome relief from the city center. Your overgeneralizations of the "ghetto" should be taken very lightly. I always think it's funny to hear views, like yours, that paint the panelaks to be such depressing, oppresive places--this view is wrong. While there are some less desirable places, these are still "homes" to a lot of people. Before you give a short lesson again, I suggest you do a little more research.

"The strangest thing I've tried to snort? My father. I snorted my father, he was cremated and I couldn't resist grinding him up with a little bit of blow. My dad wouldn't have cared, it went down pretty well, and I'm still alive."

BEST BLOG EVA - From: Our single day in Athens
Hey. so seriously. I am in the university lab right now (you know how quiet it gets in here) and I saw your caption of me looking like keith richards visiting the parthenon and i was drinking water out of me old trusty nalgene smerrr and i spit the water out onto my lap and laugh so loud, but only one like stop motion chuckle and seriously EVERYONE everyone turns around and looks at me. It was so Kafka-esque. Great post girlfriend, I really enjoyed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Anni, its good to hear from you, I'm glad you like the blog, pics and all. I'm jealous of your sunny weather, but I had my Spring Break this week and went ot the Greek islands and laid on the beach, so I got some sun in. Can't wait to see you guys in the fall? Are you or Krista planning on taking Spanish Language with Bellos?

Dinosaurs are sweet, but what I actually love to look at in natural history museums are the exstinct mammals. Weird half-armadillo-half-giraffe things that were apparently walking around Iowa back in the day... Or Dayton Ohio. And the hoards of exstinct marine life, brachiopods that looked like clams but were more closely related to starfish. Anywho, I am glad that google finally led me to a blog of yours. I've already made the assumption that you have some objection on principle to the douche-baggery of facebook, but I'm delighted to have found this.

Still seems like it would be better than those toilets that flush automatically... They freak me out! It's like whoooooosh - omigod - what the frilly heck?! - oh yes, annoying self-flushing toilet, nuclear powered or something, flushing my waste all the way to China.

Stood on the bridge - From: Cesky Krumlov...the forgotten city
Hey, you probably would believe that G'ma and I stood on the same bridge and took the same picture of the waterfall. I think I have a better picture of the castle. We didn't go inside, but then we were there in March and it was a lot colder. Now, if you make the Budweiser brewery tour, you will have done everything we did. Love always, Uncle G

What memories - From: Ich bin ein Berliner
Talked to your mom and dad and they tell me you are partying all the time. Looks like they are telling the truth for a change. Glad to see you made it to church on Sunday.... Did you do the city tour of Berlin? I thought it was worthwhile. Now don't forget to try those places in Prague I told you about. I'm looking forward to hearing all about them; and seeing the pictures too. Keep studying opps I mean partying. Love ya,

The oldest pub in Prague called U Fleku and the pub with the best goulash in the world. Oh sure, you think I have the name??? It could be: Best Pub Gulás (Goulash): Old Town's boisterous U Vejvodu (tel. 224-219-999) dishes out a fine spicy goulash along with Pilsner Uruqell. Anyway, this sounded good to me. Have fun and keep up the good work, Luv Unc G
