And the return home is a very important part of the process. It was great to return home. I don't think I have ever wanted a big fat juicy hamburger and greasy french fries so bad in my life. And thank goodness for coffee to go and kitchens that contain more than a hot plate. I am also so much more thankfu http://www.travelblog.org/North-America/United-States/Indiana/Valparaiso/blog-214024.html Visiting Buda and Pest My dad came into to Prague to visit this week. We stayed in Prague fro two days. Went south to Ceske Budejovice for a daytrip and then headed to Budapest. We did a lot of fun stuff in Prague besides the general touristy stuff. After taking my dad around to Prague Castle Old Town Square Vysehrad Wencelas Square and the like we went to Letna Park walked through the entire park hoping to see http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Hungary/Central-Hungary/Budapest/blog-159174.html The last week... It has come to an end. My semester in Prague is over but it was wonderful when it lasted. I learned so much about myself this culture and humanity in general over the course of the last four months. I learned about so many great Czech authors from my classes besides the famous Kafka to Kundera there is Hrabel and Tropol too. I also got to visit places all over the Czech Republic outside of Pr http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/blog-159160.html A Short lesson on Prague's suburbs I know learning bleck But wait this is interesting learning. This week for my Reading Prague class a class where we read about Prague specific places in time and what not then go visit them we went to the Czech suburbs. Now I know what you American Foreigners are thinking suburbs wow that sounds like outlet malls cul de sacs and perfectly congruent houses lined up for days near large f http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Czech-Republic/Prague/blog-151975.html Picnicking at Vysehrad Picnicking at VysehradnbspEurope raquonbspCzech Republic raquonbspPrague By JenifahApril 22nd 2007Jennifer Clessas So last time I blogged I tried to inform ou guys about something interesting in Prague and got attacked for it so I will go back to showing you beautiful places in Prague and nice pictures. I love Vysehrad I went back to Vysehrad two weekends ago with friends and picnick http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Czech-Republic/Prague/blog-153884.html Amsterdam canals coffeehouses and colorful people This weekend Jess Miles Josh and I went to Amsterdam. We took a rideculously long busride from Prague I think it was about 17 hours there we hit traffic and 16 hours on the way back so we pretty much spent the same amount of time in Amsterdam as we did on the bus but it was totally worth it. I think Amsterdam is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Its a pretty strong competitor http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Netherlands/North-Holland/Amsterdam/blog-149639.html Easter in Krakow and AuschwitzBirkenau Easter in Krakow and AuschwitzBirkenaunbspEurope raquonbspPoland raquonbspKrakow By JenifahApril 8th 2007Jennifer Clessas Besides being deathly ill this Friday and spending a total of about twenty hours on a bus Poland was great. We visited the city of Krakow which seemed to me like a cleaner more modern version of Prague. We also ate some pretty incredible pierogies better than Val http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Poland/Lesser-Poland/Krakow/blog-147163.html Our single day in Athens Chapter four contains the climax and conclusion of the journey. We flew into Athens at 7 in the morning and had flights out at 4 the next morning so instead of getting a hotel or hostel we decided to save money and hang out in Athens the airport and left our backpacks in lockers at Athens International. We took a taxi into the city because as long as you split them four ways taxis are actually http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Greece/Attica/Athens/blog-144365.html Kefalos Mixers and a Series of Fortunate Events Yes I spent my Spring Break this year in the beautiful Greek Isles. I went with Josh Miles and Jess. We spent three days on the Island of Kos and almost one full day in Athens. Where to start... well we decided to book the cheapest tickets we could find on Aegean Air thus we ended up in Kos an island we knew nothing about except that Hippocrates the inventor of modern medicine was from the http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Greece/South-Aegean/Kos/blog-144162.html We went for "the cure..." ...instead we got the best view of the Czech Republic yet. Jess and I went to Karlovy Vary this weekend a spa town two hours West of Prague. The story of the town is that Charles IV was out hunting in this area when one of his hunting hounds saw a stag and began to chase after it. The dog bounded through a hot spring and got scalded and Charles IV decided that the spring contained healing waters http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Czech-Republic/Karlovy-Vary-Region/Karlovy-Vary/blog-141810.html Czech Beauty So I haven't blogged in a while...but I have been seeing a lot of interesting sights. Actually this week has had a fair share of visitors and I have seen a bunch of new spots in Prague. Jared was here earlier in the week and we took him all over the city. Him and I went to the top of the astronimical clock tower in Staromestka Old Town Square and the view was incredible It is probably one http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Czech-Republic/Prague/blog-139014.html Cesky Krumlov...the forgotten city Today we went on a day trip from Prague to Cesky Krumlov a city that has not changed much since the Renaissance. You enter the town through or under rather the castle gate and immediatly in front of you is a small medieval town. The Vltava the same river that runs through Prague also passes through Cesky Krumlov only its much smaller and calmer. There are a ton of little cafes and restuar http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Czech-Republic/South-Bohemian-Region/Cesky-Krumlov/blog-139318.html Ich bin ein Berliner No I am not a jelly donut ...but you may remember those words from Kennedy's speech he gave in West Berlin however I did get a taste of Berlin this weekend. Okay that was a terrible pun I guess I just can't get away from the Valpo way of thinking. Berlin was a lot of fun. I went with friends from Valpo Neal Sam and Kelly. There is very little different about the way Berlin looks in c http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Germany/District-of-Berlin/Berlin/blog-135243.html Friends come to visit This was an exciting week my friends Kelly and Sam who are studying in Tubinguen Germany but whom I met at Valpo came to Prague to visit. It was a blast showing them all the fun things I've discovered thus far in Prague. We took them to our favorite Thai restuarant here the Lemon Leaf along with the best pizza in town and we took them to the Globe as well. We also showed them a little bit o http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Czech-Republic/Prague/blog-135216.html Ice skating in Town Square and the Venus of Willendorf This weekend I went with my school program here in Prague on an excursion ot Vienna what a beautiful city The streets and buildings are much cleaner than in Prague and the architecture is similar to that of Switzerland. I mostly spent the entire trip walking and eating which is really what I love to do anyway. We got in Friday night and skipped out on the mini tour to hang out with a friend http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Austria/Vienna-State/Vienna/blog-132992.html Prague nightlife... Okay now that I have been here a month I think I can start making suggestions on cool places to chill in Prague. Not for those reading my blog because they love me and are keeping track of my life on the Eastern side of the pond but rather for those seeking information because they are planning on visiting Prague relatively soon.Last night I went out with Carey Chris and Josh and we wandered a http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Czech-Republic/Prague/blog-130813.html Springtime in Prague The weather has been so abnormally warm here its frightening. Jess and I were walking Petrin Hill yesterday to get groceries that's right I get to walk through one of the most beautiful parks in the world with one of the most beautiful views in the world to run errands and I saw flowers blooming. I had to stop and take a picture because I hardly believed it. In the middle of February in Pr http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Czech-Republic/Prague/blog-128381.html This blog is dedicated to my mother Hi mom. I am having a fabulous time here in Prague. I wish you were here there are so many things I experience that I think you would enjoy too. For starters the food and drink is delicious as you might have interpreted from my last blog. Next the sights are so fascinating and almost all correlate to some sort of historic event and you always love being knowledgable in history. Thirdly http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Czech-Republic/Prague/blog-128379.html Quesadillas sushi and curry Czech style My love and indulgence for food has not been disappointed one bit by the food here in Prague. In fact I have not had one bad meal since I've been here. Lunch has been typical sandwich most of the time from Paneria...mmm three cheese and tomato panini a pastry of some sort and ice tea. Dinner has mostly been made in the dorm but we only have a hot plate to cook on so pasta and stir fry is http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Czech-Republic/Prague/blog-127665.html Excerpt from an email... I wrote this email to my friend Jess and I realized that it really summed up the great time I have been having here. I also supplemented it with some of my favorite pics from the trip thus far.I love living here Jess this city makes me feel free this town just gives so much independence...and it feels alive. I always thought it was funny when people described places with genders but Prague http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Czech-Republic/Prague/blog-126064.html
