All the students in our ISEP program took a trip to Sarapaqui with the ISEP director and our Spanish teacher. We stayed in a lodge and did some fun activities.
First of all, they never tell or explain anything to us. We never know what is going on and what are doing. So we spend a lot of time making up and guessing what we are doing next lol. None of us came prepared. I ran out of underwear, and ended up washing some in the sick and hanging them out to dry on a lamp. Several people washed their shorts in the sink. And everyone wore the same thing at lease 3 different times. And the items were wore...were not clean. Sarapaqui is about 2 hours from Heredia. The school had rented a tourist van thing for all of us to take. We left Friday morning at 6:50 am. When we arrived, we got our room keys and got to check them out. It was an awesome lodge. It is situated pretty much directly in a rainforest so we did a lot of hiking around to check out the wildlife and plants. The first thing we did was visit a pinapple plantation. Everyone thought pineapples grew on trees. That is incorrect...they grow in the ground..well kind of. IT was really cool. we thought it was going to be lame but it was awesome. We ate when we got back to the lodge and then a lot of us went swimming and walked the trails. After supper we took a dance class and sweated like maniacs. It was absolutely disgusting lol. Heredia is much different than Sarapaqui. We learned Meringue, Salsa, and some traditional costa rican dance that I am in love with. I am going to take a dance class here and I hope we learn that one better! It is crazy haha.
After the dance class we all showered and went to bed. Saturday, we woke up, ate and reforested trees in some ladys finca (small farm). Misha and I were partners and we both felt like we planted a bazzillion trees lol. Everyone was dripping sweat and the dirt is like clay and reddish so we were all dirty too lol. After that, we went swimming and got a river tour of Rio Sarapaqui. We saw some monkeys and a lot of birds. We also saw 2 caiman (small alligator type things). It was pretty cool. Then we ate and hung out trying to find something to do. We went back to our room. Callie, Amanda and I were roomies. While Amanda was showering, Callie and I had a dance party. Amanda said she thought there was a fire ....i wish we could have videotaped ourselves...im sure we'd be getting several calls to be back-up dancers in shakira or beyonces next music videos. We then went to another girls room and chatted with them for awhile. Sunday morning, we went to a chocao plantation and saw how chocolate used to be made. we got to try lots of diferent things. We had to walk over a sketchy bridge and through some forrest to get there so we saw more monkeys...and we could hear them a lot..they sounded like dogs lol. After that adventure we headed back to the lodge at and left. it was a fun weekend. i cant wait to do more travelingUntil: November 30th -0001
