Jen and Jo-Jo in Europe

Jen and Jo Jo

Hey friends and family!

Jennifer and I wanted to set up a site so that we could easily share our European travel adventures with you!!! This is a huge vacation for both of us...in fact, we will each be getting our first stamp in our passports during this trip! So exciting!! We will be logging on as often as possible during our 14 day trip to keep you updated on our whereabouts and hopefully figure out how to post some pictures. And for you to make sure we're still alive because we all know Jen has very limited patience when it comes to Jody and her spontaneity! We hope you enjoy!

Love to all,
Jen and Jo-Jo
xoxo

Hi all! Well, we did it. We somehow made it to our final destination! First of all, I will have to apologize for my previous entries...they are full of spelling errors and words that just don't make sense. Please understand that I am going on little sleep and have not had coffee in about 2 weeks (that will all change in about 5 min as I found my first Starbucks and it is directly across the street!) Today we are in Paris and it is SO cold! Ok, maybe I am exaggerating a bit but what a change from Italy. And speaking of Italy, what a dreadful day our trip was yesterday. Let's see...where shall I begin? So we got up and had breakfast at a hotel (which was more like a dungeon) and had to ... read more

Hey everyone! Well, today we made it Venice. I still can not believe that we are here and travelling all around Europe! It is crazy!! But first, back a day to Florence. Yesterday (Monday) we went on a country side tour of Tuscany. Thats right, we skipping all of the famous museums in Florence! Dont freak out art lovers...but Jen and I are just fine looking at the replica of David :) So, back to our countryside tour. We rode a double decker bus about 40 min into Tuscany and went to a Chianti winery where we toured a castle and the wine cellar...and the best part...did some wine tasting!! We sat at a table with some wonderful people...a couple from Australia (which we exchanged email addresses), two from Scotland and another couple from Chicago. It ... read more

It is official...I am old! Id like to take a moment Celebrate my age An ending of an era And the turning of a page Now it is time to focus in on where I go from here Lord have mercy on my next 30 years Those lyrics from Tim McGraw say it all!!! Jen and I just got into Florence about 1 hour ago. We left Rome via train and took about a 1.5 train ride to Florence...and yes...once again got lost. These directions are KILLING me. Especially when it is 90+ degrees out and we are walking aimlessly around these cities with our luggage. (They just put on Alan Jackson in the internet cafe...sweet!) But, we made it. Today we are just going to walk around and RELAX. We have been going nonstop for ... read more

Wow...what a temp difference here in Rome. We arrived yesterday am after a long morning. We got up at 3am...took a taxi to the train station...took a 20 min train ride to the airport...took a plane to London...then took a plane to Rome...then to a train into the city. By this time it was about 1:30pm and had yet another adventure trying to find our hotel. Geez, these instructions from the hotels are quite interesting. This one told us that once we left the train station to cross the bus stops...go straight for about 500 meters and then the hotel is on the left. Ha! Ya right! We ended up in the right area but were circling around our hotel for quite a while before I looked at Jen and told her that I had enough ... read more

Hello everyone! Today we decided to get out of the city and take in some of the countryside. We went to a cheese market and learned how cheese was made and ate lots of free samples. Jen was in heaven as she is such a cheese and cracker fan!!! Then we ended up in a town called Edam (I think that's what it was called) and walked around to look at the old houses from the "rich dutch people". Their words, not mine. This city was very interesting and the cobblestone streets were deadly to Jen and I as we can not walk straight or good on flat ground!! No worreis, we walked with no wounds....at least not yet. Then we took the bus to another town (already forgot that name - man, I'm useless!) where ... read more

Hey everyone!! I will apologize for any spelling errors because there is no spell check! :) Well, we made it! We landed about 7am Sunday morning in Amsterdam (which was about 1am Michigan time) and then had the delight of going from the airport to the Central train station, to the tram and then to our stop...and then the directions said the hotel was a one minute walk from the tram stop. That's all we had to work with. Well...our one minute walk turned into a 60 minute walk. By this time it was 9am and the city was obviously still asleep and the only person there to help us spoke French. Go figure! :) It was kind of funny tho - he tried so hard and we could do was smile. So after wandering every ... read more
