Today we arrived in Varkala by train from Kanyakumari and it was very scenic winding through the countryside and small villages. I went cheap(66 Rupees- $2Can) since it was a short trip only 4hrs and went with the locals which at times was a little squishy. I still had a good time though. It was fun at each stop how the vendors came aboard and sold food and snacks and hot drinks which were very tasty. The bananas are delicious. Well it has been so long since I last wrote I bearly know where to begin. As I mentioned in my last blog we hired a driver to take us to the southern tip of India. Raman our driver has been phenominal. We have visited every temple and point of interest along the way which has been numerous. In Pondicherry we visited the temple and were each blessed by the Puja man and an elephant. Alex loves being blessed by elephants! India is like a large bag of little marbles being dropped and going every which way. So on that note were are but two marbles of many and we are rolling out tomorrow to travel south. We have hired a driver who will be with us for 7 days taking us from Chennai to Kanniyakurmari the southern most tip. Along the way we will see all the temples and main sights of interest. We arrived late last night into Chennai and are staying in Egmore close to the train station. The horns were honking and the city was pulsing early this morning. I am surprised how many taxis/rickshaws there are. People everywhere! As we rode from the airport to our hotel last night I could see people sleeping on the sidewalk dogs wandering and others still up pedalling their wares. Our taxi driver was very skilled weaving in and out and around other vechiles, pedestrians, animals, and cyclists. He had sharp reflexes and could stop on a dime. Singapore airlines knows how to treat its customers so well. At checkin they took care of our bags so we didn't have to worry about them during our lay over. Then later when we boarded our flight they welcome you with hot face cloths after everyone is seated. Such a treat! They served us the entire flight with food and beverages, you name it we were treated like first class only with out the price tag. We were in the air for I think 19hrs with a 1hr stopover in Korea. Well our bags are packed and in three days we will be off to India. It feels like I am on a train moving forward and things are clicking together and soon I will be spit out at the airport to board my flight. Who knew the time would go by so fast.
