7th March 2008 Woke up to another lovely morning at Auchmithie and wished we could stay longer but not only were other guests arriving but the open road was calling and we needed to head back to Hobart. After cleaning up and saying goodbye to Quentin, through the wall, we set off to catch the ferry, carefully as we were running short of petrol. While we were waiting for the ferry Bob insisted I started the diary as we were getting behind and it gets so difficult to remember where we were, let alone what we were doing, after a few days. 5th March 2008 This morning we made a very early start to get down to the Bruny Island Ferry at 9.00 clock. We met Roger and travelled over to North Bruny where Roger lead us along the unsealed track to Dennes Point where he and Peter have their holiday home “Auchmithie”. They have very kindly allowed us to stay there while we explore the island. Roger showed us where everything is kept and the little idiosyncrocies of the place, including where Quentin the quoll lives behind the wall. And maybe Percy possum in the shed! We did appreciate him taking time off to take us down and show us round. 3rd March 2008 We left our hotel early and caught the train to the airport for a day flying to Hobart, capital of Tasmania. The weather was bright and sunny in Brisbane and we could see the land below during our flight. We had a brief stop in Sydney when we managed to post the blog for the previous day. Tasmania looked very brown and dry as we flew over and as we landed they had their first rain for some time. Gem and the children, Emily and Josh, met us at the airport and we went back to their house for tea. Just a note to let you know that we are alive and well. We have been on to Bruny Island for the last two days very remote and certainly no internet connections. 2nd March 2008 Today we woke in Darwin to the sunniest day we have seen so far in Northern Territory. We of course were flying out at midday however and had to check out of the Central Hotel by 10-30am. So after breakfast we went back to the Lamaroo Beach only a few hundred metres from the hotel for Dinah to take some more photographs of the coloured rocks on the beach. After a pleasant half an hour ( I could have stayed all day) we went back to pack and check out. We are now flying south over Mount Isa , Longreach and Rockall back to Brisbane. We can see down to the ground most of the time and there are very few roads or houses just miles of scrub land and the occasional outcrop ... read more

29th February 2008 We have decided to have rest day and so we didn't get up until 7.00 clock. We finished the diary for 28th feb and went to have some breakfast at a nice cafe we found last night. I finished off the photos for the log and we both decided to get our hair cut. Bob went off to load the blog and we met up after we were shorn. We have booked in to the Darwin Central for our last two nights in Darwin as it is much more central than our present hotel and was reccomended by Em.
