McGuffy!
Ha, I was going through a box of childhood things and in the box was the entire collection of McGuffy Readers! I don't know if my mom taught me out of those when I was younger but I would not be surprised. Love your posts Jason!

One of our favorite Savannah hotels is River Street Inn. It's right on the river and central to all sorts of shopping and dining!

My middle name used to be "Taker"
just kidding...my dream vay-kay in recent years is to drive from coast to coast and back---high road over...low road back. You are an excellent writer. I wanna go to Savannah!

Wonderful and Inspiring
Hi Jason, I love reading your travel blogs, this one in particular because I can totally relate to it. I'm really impressed that you made it through nearly two weeks of meditation and noble silence! This blog reminded me of the numerous times I had to go to Buddhist meditation camps as a child. Everything you said I could relate to, especially the part where you said it was the hardest thing you've ever done. This is so true, and I had to do this as a 7 year old girl who just wanted to play. I really enjoyed your mention of not being able to kill anything, and how that was the hardest thing to abstain from. I know exactly how you feel. Those mosquitoes and bugs are so pesky sometimes! Especially in the woods! I always admired monks and nuns at these camps; they were never fazed by pesky insects! The ending was very moving and insightful. I loved reading about everything you learned and took away from this experience. Judging people by their character and not by their attributes is something that I will take away from this blog and try to apply to my own life. It is wonderful that you can now think back and have peaceful memories of your mother! May all your dreams be filled with joy and happiness. It's very inspiring to know that you're using this as a pivotal point in the enlightened path of life. Namaste Jason, may all beings be happy! Thien

Thankin' ya fer yer travelin' news!
Hi Jason! It's good to know of your latest adventures and insights. I truly enjoy reading of your discoveries and being an armchair companion in your travels. Your story on Minnie Jean and the quote "Later interviews with some of the bullies revealed that they especially targeted Minnie Jean because she walked the halls like she belonged there" was particularly poignant to me. I know how she must have felt . . . That hatred some people feel is such a debilitating cancer of the soul and is so damaging in so many ways! Love and Courage are truly powerful forces!! Best to you, my friend

I've been to Arkansas. What you described about the cops as soon as you cross the border is spot on. My friend got pulled over like 3 min in. I love the tree lined roads too. Don't get that in so cal! Love you cousin!

Wonderful observation
I must say that you are using not only your mind but your heart as well in writing and commenting about the places you were in. Your observation and the effort you just did to observe is quite amazing. How I wish that every individual who is traveling for a Spiritual Journey Hawaii has a heart like yours who is not only there to see what is needed and lacking but is there to see what is needed to be done. Commenting is good but acting is great. Good Luck and more blessings.

Welcome
Welcome home Jason! I have enjoyed reading your blogs, even if some of them were hard to read (the baby tree got to me!). I am glad you were able to learn so much and expand your knowledge of war. I look forward to you setting all that aside and trading sarcastic remarks with me come September 7th!

:)
Wow Jason, first off, welcome home! I am so happy to hear that you really got what you wanted from the trip. The aspect of traveling that people do not see often enough is simply amazing, and you my friend have had so many experiences to capture that aspect. You define the term "World Traveler" and I admire you so much for that. Keep being you. :) Secondly, I can't wait for winter break, when I come home to OC and can get a chance to sit down and hear about you and your life face to face. Take care and be safe. -Peter

I wish I had been there!
Your writing makes me feel like I am there. I have been moved to tears and laughter while reading your blogs. I am completely bummed that Golem moved his hand before you could take a pic of his nub inching up your leg! Poor Jason...always the victim...lol! You need a protector on these trips. I am inspired by your ability to travel to such a foreign land anf be on your own. It is admirable! Can't wait to talk to you in person about your experiences!
