We just kept telling oursevles that we have lots of time left on our fantastic adventure and that it really would never end. Alas the end is near this is not to say that we are excited about returing. We have 2 full days left then our flight home is on the 18th when we arrive in Calgary at 7pm.But we'll catch you http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Spain/District-of-Madrid/Madrid/blog-312557.html Portugal in 4 days Hey all So we wrote a blog earlier to catch everyone up on our travels but as soon as we pushed published for some reason all was lost. That was back on the 3rd. So now begins the somewhat painful task of catching up since before that. Jan and I have agreed that we would do best just to summarizeJuly 30 31 1 Malaga Shit Hole.August 2 3 Seville Great City.August 4 Night Train fro http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Portugal/Northern/Porto/blog-309455.html The Quest for the Holy Grail Ok so ever since we picked Valencia as a travel destination I was super excited because we read in our travel guide that Valencia is home to the ONLY Vaticanrecognized Holy Grail When we found that out we had visions of our own monty pythonesque skits of trying to find it. But I get ahead of my self.... We arrived from Barcelona in the late afternoon which ment that it was a scortching 35 http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Spain/Andalusia/Granada/blog-304641.html The City That NEVER Sleeps Hey guys we have free internet again Something that we didnt expect so we made sure to take some time and write another blog. So we last left off in Zaragoza and have since headed to and finished our stay in Barcelona. It is a pretty amazing city everyone who hasnt been you should mark it down on your list as something to see.We got to our hostel no problem after a 5 hour train ride f http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Spain/Catalonia/Barcelona/blog-304024.html Viva Espaa We last caught the blog up while we were still in Bordeaux. Since then we have crosed the border into Spain Our last month will be spent seeing what we can of the Iberian Peninsula we are still trying to work in a couple of days in Portugal. Our first stop was Pamplona. Yes this is where the bulls run. No we did not see them run. We had the option of Bastille Day in France or the runnin http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Spain/Aragon/Zaragoza/blog-302232.html The Gong Show of France We are sorry that us wayward travellers have been unable to update all of our readers. We do have a good excuse we have been very busy and internet in southern France is quite expensive. We left off in Italy. We had left Genoa which was of not much consequence mostly because we spent most of our time on the beautiful coasts of Cinque Terre. Two words Stuning Beauty But backt to getting to Franc http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/France/Aquitaine/Bordeaux/blog-299975.html Northern Italy A Romance Venice SO COOL Did you know that Venice is made up of 117 islands It makes sense doesn't it that a city famous for its nurmerous canals that those canals carve up the land into islands But I hadn't ever thought of it that way. So every bridge Jan and I walked across was fun because we were crossing over to another island by just walking over a bridge The canals do make Venice a speci http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Italy/Trentino-Alto-Adige/Trento/blog-295360.html Phoney Baloney Rimini which was our stop prior to this one was nice but a tad bit too hot for our blood since it was situated right on the coast. With this proximity to the ocean the city was extremely humid. We arrived off the beautifully air conditioned train to enter the swealtering heat a scortching 38 degrees which even Danielle was not excited for and ever since then we have been dripping in sweat at http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Italy/Emilia-Romagna/Ferrara/blog-293286.html Rustic Tuscany We left off in Rome heading to Florence. The train ride was very enjoyable we got to see and watch the beautiful countryside wash by us as we sped on to Florence. Tuscany really does match the romantic notions that we have had instilled in us by Hollywood. Florence is really a spectaclularly city. It has a killer city scape and where we are staying has a brilliant vantage of the city. We are sta http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Italy/Tuscany/Florence/blog-291590.html All Roads Lead to Rome As the saying goes all roads lead to Rome. We left off on our way to Rome from dirty Naples and we have now visited many but not all of the great sights that the marvelous Rome has to offer. When we got into Rome we went to our hostel which we found out to be a large camping installation. It had a full bar restaurant and very nice swimming pool. However we had booked rooms in the 16 bed dorm http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Italy/Lazio/Rome/blog-290646.html Naples and Pompei Hey all We have been trying to post to tell you that we are now currently safe and sound in Italy but the computer at the hostel we are at now while free freezes everytime we try to post. But we validated our Eur rail passes with no problem and got the cheapest tickets that we could get which were at a bargain price. We patiently waited for our ferry at the nice terminal for international tri http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Italy/Campania/Naples/blog-289664.html Corfu 13th to 16th Hey everyone. It wasn't a rushed day but it was a hot one. Our first stop was to get out morning yogurt from the market down the street. We walked and drank it as we headed to the metro station. From the next stop we got off and took our time walking to the National Archeological Museum. It http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Greece/Attica/Athens/blog-286493.html To Nafplio and Back Hi everyone Seems like eons since we last wrote...really its only been a couple of days. Both of us want a chance to tell you all of what we have been up to since we were last in Athens. So we are going to take turns just to make things confusing June 9 Today was both really good and really bad. The morning was good we got up went to the bus terminal which we found no promblem I http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Greece/Attica/Athens/blog-286133.html Back in Athens for a Night Not much to report today. It was a travel day mostly. We caught the 11 am bus back to Athens this morning after breakfast. The bus was 25 minutes late but it is Sunday we were happy that it even showed up Once back in Athens after a 3 hour ride through the Greek country side we took the city transit back to the metro station. From there we were able to locate our new hostel with relative http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Greece/Attica/Athens/blog-285094.html Hot Day in Delphi Well I have to say that despite the previous day's pessimism regarding certain ruins I have become a changed man. The ruins were quite impressive and in remarkably good shape. But before Jan gets ahead of himself I am going to steal the keyboard to tell you guys about the site itself. Delphi is an UNESCO site. It is home to the temple of Apollo and the sanctuary of Athena. The next morning we sauntered down to make the booking only to be told that the hostel may be booked up for the night. The reason that they had not been able to book us the night be http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Greece/Attica/Athens/blog-284079.html Archeologists for a Day A Very Hot Day So to start...lets just say that today was a much better day than yesterday. We woke up to the sun shining and a new day of travels ahead of us. Last night we had decided to go to the Acropolis so after an interesting breakfast experiment we went to the bakery across the street and ordered two cheese pockets...yeah...they don't use cheddar... we stopped off at the grocery store around the co http://www.travelblog.org/Europe/Greece/Attica/Athens/blog-283693.html
