a free spirit...roots deeper than redwoods, an aura glowing like the moonlight, a smile bright as the sunshine,a laugh like a hyena, grounded like a wild animal roaming the earth, transforming and changing like sunsets and sunrises. leaving footprints around the globe, teaching children, for they are our future, gourmet cooking with organic treats and exotic kicks...chocolate coated lips...sand covered toes...rythmic breaths...

Gasping for air as I enter the sacred church whose intense energy steals my breath. Chills run down my spine, goosebumps cover my skin, and tears fill my ducts. POTENT. Pine needles cover the ground, signifying the eternity of evergreens and softening the kneeling knees of those around me. The aroma of burning incense intertwine with pine as I grasp onto this reality through the fogged perception of smoke. Smells of burning wax drip onto the floor, occasionally passing through the slight breeze of fresh air. Olfactory glands full of pine, copal, and wax. Glowing candles light the path...path of life. Religious hymns play softly in the background of indigenous dialects. Dim lighting, strong odors, and indescribable power. Conscious rituals cleanse individuals from illness and sin, intensifying positive intentions. Observing... Medicine woman and patient bow in ... read more

Following the hawks that soar overhead...wings spread wide, curves turn narrow. Never ending journeys leading us to never ending stories. Feeling. tasting, and smelling the coast but unable to see it..is it just a figment of our imaginations? Pine forests begin to turn into tropical ferns and the crisp air begins to turn humid as we wind down the mountain. Finally reaching the Pacific Ocean, I am elated to see the glistening ocean. Scorching sand wedges between my toes and vibrant sun rays shine above my head. I immediately run into the appetizing ocean and instantly become humbled by the natural powers of the universe and he strength of the waves. Face in sand, water in nose, smile on face! As I adapt to the beach life, I remind my senses to accept the sticky texture ... read more

Swimming in Mexico City through thick layers of smog and drowning in pollution. Winding up and down two lane highways for hours upon hours on our way to Oaxaca. Surrounded by untouched lands of barren landscape full of rocky terrain that is adorned with lanky cacti that are highlighted by the setting sun behind us. Racing against the descending sun and losing miserably into the dark highway of abyss. Upon arrival, Oaxaca's festive lights shine upon the vibrant essence of the Zocolo. Cafes and live music quench the thirst of both locals and tourists. Cobble stone streets escalate towards colorful colonial architecture. Simplicity...less is more. Out of the smog and into the dust we venture away form the tourist track. Four by four, side by side. Indulging in the city's cultural beauty and continuing onto the ... read more

gearing up in equipment that seems so unnaturally foreign with tubes supporting my breath that strongly resemble a hospital“s apparatus. meditating on the sound of my inhale that is amplified and rooted from deep within my aqua lungs. bubbles escape through each exhale of survival. equalizing the pressure in my ears to convince my body that sixty feet below sea level is where i am supposed to be. falling from the surface into a deep blue hole of abyss just to find myself greeted by life of all forms. psychadelic synchronicity with wonders of the underwater world. i become the reality of the little mermaid as i weightlessly swim beneath the surface, opposing all laws of gravity. losing control of my limbs as they slowly receive delayed messages from my brain. i am effortlessly floating. ... read more

embarking on my independent journey. leaving vibrant textiles and entering a land full of dark unclothed bodies and luscious lip smiles. the sounds of spanish dialect now replaced by indistinguishable accents of english, creole, and garifuna slang. welcomed by bare feet and dread adorned heads, i step off the bus to the sounds of blasting reggae tunes and the sight of red, gold, and green everywhere. i enter bliss with a one hour speed boat ride. the wind blowing so intensely that i can barely open my eyes to see this wonderland. i turn my senses off and enjoy the feel of the ride. transparent waters with bright and shining crystals that reflect upon each ray of sunlight. we step off the boat onto a slow paced island where the only mode of transportation is walking, ... read more

antigua and atitlan... once again, familar with the unfamilar. feeling at home in Latinlandia. cobblestone streets set amongst lush greenery and steep volcano walls. walking the streets with awareness, for each stumble upon a stone reminds me to be in the present moment. stray dogs wander amongst crowds of colors. sunset rainbows intertwine amongst vibrant textiles and wardrobes. street vendors selling homemade tortillas piled high with fresh avocado, vegetables, and beans...orgasmic taste buds turned on! ancient architecture and cathedrals hold onto traditional culture as tourist shadows cast down from over the years. spanish dialogue is music to my foreign ears. peaceful days amongst mountain ridges ad lakeside strolls. each puzzle piece of a village puts together the grand picture of community. climbing volcanic slopes with lush forests that have overtaken the outdated bla... read more

gangotri... hey everybody! just got back from the journey of a lifetime and wanted to update everyone. gangotri...seriously one of the best and worst experiences i have had in india. let me start with the negative...the ride from hell...returning back to india from the backpackers haven of Bagsu. diving in head first...full force. rising before the sun in a deserted Rishikesh to board our 4AM bus. not a soul in sight nor a sound within reachable distance. even the cows and the dogs rest peacefully on the side of the road. climbing aboard a rickety bus packed with all indian men with the exception of one german tourist and two local women.finding our seat and trying to make ourselves comfortable for the upcoming journey. as the time slowly passes, the bus becomes more and more full. ... read more

a few words on seeing the dali lama speak yesterday... walking into a sea of monks...bald heads and round bodies decorated in maroon and yellow robes. hands in prayer position, bowing heads, voices expressing mantras, and delicately moving mala beads. all attention forward focusing on the sacred words of the dali lama with all do highest respect. a small figure that barely fits over the podium captures the mind, body, and soul of hundreds. energy more powerful than words, for his presence is enough. persistently reminding us all to purify the subtle mind, to reach dharma- complete freedom from suffering, and to motivate within to be a positive service to all beings. the mind has no beginning...no end... we are all naturally pure... these words resonate within me as i apply them to the reality that ... read more

hey everyone! we arrived in bagsu about two weeks ago and we are loving the mountain vibes. a small mountain village tucked snug between the Himalayas. evergreen and pine trees cascade down steep mountain sides with snow covered peaks in what feels like only an arm's distance away. cleanliness from beneath the soles of my feet, up through my body, and eventually filling my lungs with fresh air. cool breezes transmitting pure scents that seem so foreign to India. thunder and lightening storms scattered between sunshine filled days. tibetan smiles of purity portraying a different form of struggle. not only a fight for the bare necessities, but a fight for a dying culture as well. tibetan momos replacing indian samosas. narrow cobblestone pedestrian walkways leading me to my home. ringing bells and stomping hooves from the ... read more

hey friends and family! just updating on the past bit of time... arriving into rishikesh fresh off the train. stopping to sip some chai as we are first introduced to the himalayas. with the sunrise reflecting on mama ganga, i take a deep breath of fresh air and enjoy the peace and quiet that was longed for since i set foot in this country. as the morning approaches, musical chanting of mantras and ringing bells emanate through the breeze. indulging in the tranquility of fresh water and mountain air, we make ourselves at home in our temporary abode. after a few days we venture off to phool chatti ashram. set in the foot of the himalayas, in the valley of the gods, this 120 year old ashram served and still serves as a resting point for ... read more
