so today i leave el salvador :( if this experience has left me with anything, it is to be grateful for what i have. i know i take advantage of everything i have, and then i see these people. These people have NOTHING. they barely have a house. This experience is going to make me see my life in a whole different way. I will now be soo much more appreciative for the things that i have and my family. I will be greatful that i have a family who loves me enough to care for me and feed me ( which can sometimes be a challenge). I am so greatful that i have the life i have and i would not change a thing about it. I love my life, my family, my friends, everyone! ... read more
Friday July 17 On Thursday we spent most of the day at the volunteer house because of the flu. We helped sort donations and i got to relax a bit. so i am not allowed to go to the malnourishment center any more because of the influenza. It is affecting sooo many people down here. And we painted the library that the nuns are building down here. Today, I also got to make some home visits and help vaccinate some children (: IT was an amzing experiance! I even got to see my sweeties Veronica and Johanna at their home. I had no idea how ... read more
Wednesday July 15 So today i went to the Las Telicias area again. But today, i made home visits with a nurse. We checked in on babies one year and below. Most of the house were made of trashbags and tin. If they were lucky they had some bricks. But I'm telling you, it was sure a sight to see. It was so sad. But the people were so friendly! Everyone was so happy and pleasant. And the whole time i was thinking...how can you be so happy? You must be miserable. But then i realized that they are used to this. For some of them..how they ... read more
Tuesday July 14 Well. Today is my 3rd day in El Salvador. Today i went to Las Telicias, which means the countryside. The nuns here run sort of a day camp kinda of thing. It is where kids can come in between school. children here only go to school half a day. either in the morning or in the afternoon. They go seven days a week. Kinda wierd huh? I met a lot of adorable children. They were so cute and lovable. I got to use a lot of my spanish also. It was so nice to actually know what they were saying. We taught them english school supplies, colors, and the alphabet song. Then we played duck duck goose, head shoulders knees and toes, and simon say. All in english and spanish (Spanglish as i ... read more
