My name is James and I live in Perth, Western Australia. I have Spastic Quadriplegia Cerebral Palsy and am confined to a wheelchair; however, this does not stop me from travelling! Over the past few years I have been lucky enough to travel overseas with my parents and sister - who are very fit and strong individuals - which means that the three of them are capable of looking after me with the assistance of a hoist and some other equipment.

As my father and mother are approaching their sixties, it has occurred to me that they may not always be able to care for me and take me on such wonderful holidays as it is very physically taxing on them. At the present time there is not much assistance available for disabled people in Australia who wish to travel abroad.

In the future I would like very much to help disabled people travel the world by organizing some equipment for them like a hoist, wheelchair accessible van, carers etc, etc. I realize that this is an enormous undertaking and therefore I have decided not rush into doing this, especially before completing my studies and performing some market research along the way!

Rest assured, I am not going to give away my secrets and the exact concept will be patented (copyright protected) very shortly so that nobody can steal it here in Perth.

I joined this forum to conduct a bit of an experiment, the details of which shall remain confidential for the moment. I get back to you in the near future with more details about this - let’s call it - ‘Dry Run’. Stay tuned for more information.
