| 22nd October 2009 Jim | Re Shameful - From: Imperialist American devil bandits make visit to Ho Chi Minh City (Siagon) That is the way I read it. Jake & Leslie did not seem to believe what was being told to them. I know of several accounts where the VC castrated GIs. One female VC did it to over a dozen GIs after torturing them all night. She was eventually killed by a Marine Sniper. I read a book by a female American nurse who served in Vietnam. She recounted one night when a whole squad of soldiers were captured castrated and their genitals shoved in their mouths. The few that "survived" if you can call being sexless your whole life surviving were brought in for treatment. Her book is "Inside the Death Factory. Both sides did some atrocious things but the VC by far were the most vicious and sadistic. |

| 12th August 2009 Jake and Leslie | Re: Shameful - From: Imperialist American devil bandits make visit to Ho Chi Minh City (Siagon) Brett - maybe you should have reread what we had written before trying to lecture. Nowhere did we say that the Viet Cong didn't commit atrocities, we said it was interesting/comical that the Vietnamese government today have such a biased view that they deny that the Viet Cong committed any atrocities at all. |
| 7th August 2009 anonymous | - From: Trying to keep cool in Singapore and Bangkok I think you need to make a few corrections... snakes are not poisonous they are venomous! (since you can eat them if you really wanted) and also "Hanging out with a reticulated python at the Snake Farm in Bangkok" that is actually a lovely burmese python. Sorry but I keep alot of snakes and I thought this information could be interesting/helpful for you. :) |
| 4th August 2009 Brett Knoss | about the tiger cages - From: Imperialist American devil bandits make visit to Ho Chi Minh City (Siagon) Tiger cages were used to punish prisoners for severe infractions like arson (a form of sabotage). They were not used for prisoners on a regular basis, likewise the Communists used such cells for ordinary prisoners and often liked to leave prisoners in steel crates used by the Americans for shipping. The tiger cages were humane relative to this brutal treatment of ARVN POW's. |
| 3rd August 2009 Brett Knoss | Shameful - From: Imperialist American devil bandits make visit to Ho Chi Minh City (Siagon) Your comments about the VietCong not having committed atrocities. The VietCong were horrific to the Vietnamese people in one village a chief was bound castrated then his testicles put in his mouth which was sewn shut, while his pregnant wife womb was cut open and the child impaled from ear to ear with bamboo. People were routinely executed throughout the war and until and fear was a major tactic sometimes a whole town was intimidated by 5 VietCong and many villages were burned for being neutral. After the war 1.7 million Vietnamese were killed by the Communists and another 2.5 million Cambodians by the Khmer Rouge. It's good that the Vietnamese do not hold a grudge for against America even though they ended support to the Republic of Vietnam and Republic of Cambodia and did not begin bombing once the Communists violated the Paris Peace Accord. |

| 25th June 2009 William Cozart | Defending Bogota - From: Stew bumbs, beaches and lots of beans: Colombia Hey guys! Glad you had a good time in Colombia but i just want to come up and help out One night is not enough to be in Bogota to get a little of the "local" flavor you talk about. Just because you happen to be in the one of the cheapest parts of town and found a few problems is not enough time get to "review" a city. Bogota is actually one of the nicest cities in SA. It is just is I decided to go cheap and stay at the bronx in NYC or Brixton in London for one night and then say that the city is full of crime, graffiti and crack heads and that it is not worth to visit. I mean, if Taganga, which I consider kind of dumpy, grew up on you guys I would think that had you given Bogota a little more time you would have loved it. Really. Anyway, just a comment to defend the city I spend a lot of time in and found to be great and exciting. You are actually one of the few people describing Bogota as a bad place to see. Great reading about your travel. Keep on writing. You would be surprise the amount of people that read the blogs! Happy travels! Will |
