true true.
dumb is just the beginning. i think that what it came down to was that Kerry just didnt know how to speak to the Democratic base the way that Bush obviously could speak to the conservative right and the wealthiest Americans (like Kerry) I voted for Kerry, and wanted desperatly for him to win, but never quite got the enough excitement about him to try and convince anyone I knew that HE was the best person for the Democratic party. I just voted against Bush. I would guess that Bush supporters went and got the vote out and scared people into thinking that homosexuals were gonna take over middle america. that foreigners were gonna bomb their churches if kerry was elected. The ONLY person that I saw from the democratic camp that spoke to the democratic base was the Clinton's. Those two still get me excited and optomistic. They are democrats through and through and that is something worth telling people about. all i really know about kerry still is that he thinks very highly of his time in the armed services. who gives a crap.

Re Bush's election
The bottom line is that the Republicans organized more people to get to the polls in the swing states than did the Democrats. Karl Rove is the genius. I understand that he got sample ballots in every church service for six weeks and middle America can't accept gays. Get on Michael Moore's website and he has 17 points to think about. Sad but true
Yes, there are officially 59 million+ stupid people in this country. If you look at the states "won" by Bush, they follow the old Mason Dixon line seperating the confederate south during our first civil war. Barring any voter fraud, which as you know is not beyond the capabilities of this administration, it was a disgustingly convincing win by our clueless leader. What happened to Kerry? He was bamboozled, blindsided by droves of evangelical christians bent on hurrying the onset of the 'End of Days' they and Bush deeply believe... 'Moral values' is the buzz phrase following this latest national embarassment, Lily-white country rubes afraid of boys kissing and the well being of POTENTIAL children. I guess I've said enough, better off there thn here. Peace.

Thanks from Grandma
Grandpa and I are enjoying hearing about your experiences in Japan. Here in the U.S. we are in the midst of elections. As a member of the League of Women Voters I have been busy with local candidates and studying the 16 propositions on the ballot. I chaired the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the Richmond Farmers Market which turned out to be all we hoped for. We got grant money and were able to get music reflecting the diversity of the Richmond community. I am the one who sent the message about relatives in Okinawa. When I send her a Christmas card soon I will tell her where you are and what you are doing. She had a granddaughter who was going to Fresno State but she didn't give me an address so I never got in contact with her. This was about the time we left to go to Oregon for Valerie's opening and the graduations. Do you have an address so I can snail mail you? Is there anything you need or want from the states. Christmas mail has to be sent in November which is around the corner.

Your Roots
Are you aware that your grandparents were from Okinawa? I have cousins living in Shuri and Naha. I don't think they speak much English. How is your Japanese? Do you want their addresses?
