What an adventuress you are!!! - From: A Few Short Stories
Hi Margaret, This is your cousin Sally from San Francisco and am I ever impressed with your clarity of writing so that I feel as if I am walking beside you as you tour Venice. I was in Italy in 1967 with my roomate "Sox", the year after we graduated from the Univ. of Ill. and we had wonderful experiences. Reading your comments transports me in time and space to a different era in my life. I especially was touched by your comments about the store where they trusted you to pay before leaving....once upon a time it WAS that way in the US....unfortunately, that gentle way is gone even in smallish towns like Moline. Your mom was kind to allow me to read your blog page. Enjoy your travels. I hope to be able to read more of them. Love, Sally

Comment on Prps and Cons: Part One - From: The Pros and Cons: Part One
Dearest One, It sounds like you're getting a little homesick. It's natural, you've been gone a long time. Your lists made me smile. I might have written similar ones. The only diff. is I love European shower heads (but mine have always had a bracket). Ever since I discovered them on my 1st trip to Europe, I've had nothing but. The things you love, I love too. I'm really going to miss you at Easter. There will be a big hole without you. Who else will I kid about eating 5 pounds of bacon by themselves in one meal? : ) No, James doesn't come close! How you remain sylphlike is a mystery to me. And I must confess, a point of total jealousy!! When I lived in Chicago before you were born, I walked EVERYWHERE. I was in very good shape, too, because of it. I had a good male friend who walked with me at night so I could be safe, so I did a lot of that, too! I really like the Italian tipping (or not) thing!! Totally makes sense. Your photos are wonderful and I still feel like I'm there too. One question, are some of the people who comment on your blogs STRANGERS to you? I know who most of your family and friends are, but GUS (supercilious, I thought) and I thought Guido was sweet. I think they Don't know you. Could be wrong. When do you leave for Greece? You will be in love with it too. If you can, and are in Athens, go to the Greek Archeological Museum. You will DIE. It would literally take 2 weeks to see it properly. Although all the Italian museums are probably the same. But to understand what ANCIENT really means, see Athens. Rome is a baby compared to Athens. The Greeks are very nice, too, but they do tend to prefer other Greeks over others. Well, I'm vicariously loving your experiences, but I can't wait to see you again. I hope you won't get sick of telling everyone everything! You may have to rent a lecture hall and sell tickets!!! then you'll only have to do it once!! I love you and miss you, Have fun, learn a lot and be safe! Aunt C.

i am also in love with paris in february - From: Je t'aime, Paris!
although i lived in paris for 3 yrs. as a child it is always new and amazing and reassuringly the same.i agree, italian pastries except for cannoli and other sicilian desserts do not compare to any french pastry. going to the trocadero at night to see the special eiffel tower lighting is a moving experience. in february it rains less and isn't crowded. ciao for now.

Je suis enchante avec votre blogs et photos! - From: Je t'aime, Paris!
Ma Plus Cher Margaret, (Voir le titre de commentaire), OK, Je reviens a l'anglaise! I am so excited for you (et l'adorable Bonnie!) Your blogs and photos belle are so great. I really do feel like you're letting me tag along on your trip. I LOVE the pic of you holding up the Tower of Pisa. Good thing you were there to help out! I have always loved that Renoir painting, (Moulin de la Galette) but never knew its name. There's a restaurant in Davenport that has a reproduction on the wall, and I always used to seat myself under it! Now I know the name, and you, lucky girl have seen l'original! Les impressionistes sont mon favori aussi! I love all your blogs and pix. Keep 'em comin'! I am so glad you are able to have this experience. I know you'll treasure it forever. I miss you, but am SO excited for you at the same time. We'll have to talk for hours when you get home. I want to hear about everything. Be safe, be happy. Je t'aime ma fille douce. Tante C.

Hey!!!! That sounds so completely wonderful. I can't imagine what Italian carvevale is like. Mérida Carnavál was literally a parade everyday (with mostly naked women sometimes) it sounds like your was def more classy. Those masks look so beautiful too.

Busy! Busy! Busy! But that's how I know you right! Those sound like some amazing classes and also perfect for you. I expect nothing less than a personal orignal MargAret painting to be waiting for me at DG when we come back, since you should be a master when you return. :) Sounds like you're haveing/going to have a great time. You're so creative, even in your blog. That's why you're a magazines major. I can feel it when I'm reading about your trip. Miss ya bunches roomie!
