Looking back over today, I feel like we didn't really do anything.. But someone, I am more exhausted than ever before. It must be the accumulation of walking a million miles a day, running here and there, not getting enough sleep, and living with a 5yo and a 7yo. But nevertheless, it was a fun(ny) day. ..but what a fun day! I actually got to sleep in a bit, which was very nice. Then we went to El Corte Ingles, which is a very famous department store. It was the first department store in Spain and they are all over the country. This one had like 8 floors and was absurdly overpriced. We did come across a really strange tradition though - Caganer. In Spanish "cagar" means "to crap" and they have these statues of famous people - Bush, the pope, Buddha, the Dalai Lama, Hitler, Franco, as well as nuns and priests... crapping. After a full night's sleep we hit the ground running.. Sarita and her husband, Jóse (notice the accent) drove us to Figueres to see el Teatro-Museo Dalí. The drive up there was incredible. We passed some beautiful mountain, and I was able to see the snow-capped Pyrenees way off in the distance (though they didn't really show up in the pictures very well). I've posted a bunch of pictures of the drive up. The museum was incredible. I absolutely love Dalí, so having the chance to see so many of his paintings up close was wonderful. Wow, what a day! It's only 7:30 here but I am ready to go to sleep. Our flight left Atlanta last night at 8:09 US time and we arrived in Barcelona at 11:10 (but the flight was only 9 hours.. oh what strange things time zones are).. I'll be honest and say that the flight was terrible. How anyone can sleep in coach is beyond me. Hello all! I've finished packing most of my stuff and just wanted to post a test entry and see how this site works. You all can expect an entry at least every other day. I'll put pictures from my trip on here as well, so you can see all the beautiful sites that I'm seeing! Anyway, I leave tomorrow at 2:22pm (weather permitting) and arrive in Spain around 11:00am.
