Yup, we found that out today :) We started off from Yass after a great breakfast and headed for the Blue Mountains through Goulburn. As we moved along the hills got bigger and bigger and suddenly we found ourselves in the mountains. It was magnificent! Very beautiful and wild since there were no settlements, just gum tree covered mountain sides as far as the eye could see. Fantastic! Endnu en rigtig dejlig dag, med flot solskin stort set hele dagen (vi havde en mindre byge først på formiddagen). Vi havde spist en dejlig morgenmad og pakket bilen, så vi drog fra Yass 8:45 med kurs mod Sydney. Det var en meget flot tur mellem Laggan og Taralga. Kort efter Laggan råbte Io: "Der ligger en kænguru!", så vi standsede og gik tilbage for at checke; ganske rigtigt, inde bag nogle træer sad en Grå Kænguru. Vi havde en køredag i dag, en rigtig flot tur fra Bendigo i Victoria (som vi forlod 8:30) over Shepparton, Benalla, Wangaratta, Wodonga, Albury syd om Waggawagga til Gundagai for at slutte i Yass i New South Wales, så nu har vi passeret den første statsgrænse. Vi startede i overskyet vejr, men snart blev det solskin og det meste af vejen har vi haft fantastisk flot solskin. På den sidste del at turen kørte vi mellem/under to tordenvejr med nogle gevaldige lyn, men det var næsten skyfrit da vi nåede Yass. Got up, had breakfast, had a nice hot shower - didn't use the tub though we had one :D - and off we went. We were on the road all day and it was cool to see how the landscape changed and all. We went through the most beautiful hills covered in some kind of purple flowers, and also, we crossed our first state border. We had lunch in New South Wales and then continued on our way. We got up early today, about 7-7.30, and I spent some time trying to find out wether we are alllowed to bring seashells with us or not. Lonely Planet has nothing to say on the matter, so I guess we are. Our breakfast arrived around ten minutes to eight and fourty minutes later we were off. First stop was at Otway Fly Tree Top Walk, a very beatiful place where metal pathways allow you to walk among the tops of the high and slender Gum Trees enjoying the spectacular light between the grey trunks swaying noticably in the wind. Jeg var først oppe idag, 06:40, kort tid efter kom Hans Henrik, mens Io lå og gassede lidt med Lonely Planets Australiensbog, hun ville finde ud af, om man må tage muslingeskaller med rundt i landet. Det må man vist godt, det er kun frugt o.l. der ikke må passere statsgrænserne. Morgenmaden (toast, æg, bacon og pølser til de gamle, juice, youghurt og toast til Io) kom præcist og 8:30 var vi i bilen og afsted i overskyet vejr. Today we saw Koalas! In the wild!!! We were just moving along 'Great Ocean Road' when suddenly we saw people at the side of the road pointing fingers, cameras and camrecorders into the treetops. When we got out there were 9 Koalas sitting in different trees along maybe 40 meters of the road. They were so cute and hugable adn they were close enough for us to get some pics and catch them on tape too! YEAY! Hans Henrik var oppe 7.20, jeg havde stille telefonen til vækning 7.30 og stod så op. Io var oppe 8.05 og 8.35 drog vi far Cowes mod Pinguin Parade for at poste en del postkort, der skulle have det særlige pingvinstempel. Derfra direkte mod "Giant Worm", hvor vi spiste morgenmad, delicious. Afgang kl. 10 præcis og vi var fremme ved færgen i Sorrento kl 11.30. Undervejs havde vi set vores første Kilehalet Ørn (2 stk endda). Færgen sejlede kl. 12:00 og overfarten ville tage 30-40 minutter; så der var tid til at kigge sig omkring i det pragtfulde vejr. I've already told you about the little cute Fairy-wren and now I've seen Fairy Penguins too! A whole bunch of them! We said 'goodbye' and 'see you in Denmark' to David and Helen and headed off towards Philip Island. On our way there we stoped at Wildlife Wonderland and as we went in to get a cup of cappuccino (for dad and HH) and water (for me), I fell in love, right on the spot! Så er vi for alvor kommet afsted; tidligt op og sige farvel til David efter at der var blevet taget billeder i haven. ½ time senere var det så ungernes tur og da Helen var tilbage igen blev de sidste ting pakket i bilen. Helen var parat til at tage med, men det klunne hun jo ikke. En sidste farvel og på gensyn i Danmark! Og vi var på farten lidt i 10. Målet var Philip Island, hvor vi skulle til Pingvinparade.
