It was time to be heading to NSW and into the country side we went. Has anyone heard of the 'Water Fall' way? Well it is a fantastic drive from Byron Bay heading towards Tamworth and of course there are waterfalls all along the way drrrrr. Packed adventure is what happened in Queensland for us during our time there. For around two weeks it was full on with things to do and we had such a great time there, after getting of the plane, three hours later we were doing a bungee jump, next morning we were flying around in a hot air balloon, next morning was water rafting and it kept going. It had been several months since Diana and I had seen each other and she had decided to come for a visit for a month to meet the family and also have a look at where I am from and other parts of Australia. We spent three nights in Melbourne with Weeda and Boss before flying to Tassie for a week. It had been way to long since i had seen Diana so we decided that I go over for a visit for a little time, only 10 days I could go there for though but it was well worth the effort. Diana had organised a trip to the costal town of Palanga for two nights and it is sort of the tourist town of the country and gets very busy in the summer. We landed in Kilimanjaro International Airport, after Kenya Airport it was a paradise to land in big and nice airport. The air was stifling and it took time to use to it. The airport personal helped us to fix our tourist visa for Tanzania, they were friendly and nice, but some of them just wanted get money for nothing. We were staying in Arusha with our friends who have a fantastic place there. The place is like a hotel for tourists and it is called “Karibu Home”. Well the time had come for me to go for a dream of mine that I had wanted to do for such a long time, I was heading to Mt Everest Base Camp. I was going to be going solo but at the Kathmandu airport I bumped into another lad from the US and he was planning to do the same sort of thing so we teamed up and headed on our way. After saying good bye to Diana and before I started the Mt Everest hike I had around a week to have a look around Nepal.. (Also always ask for an upgrade, they let me have first class from somewhere in the Middle East to Kathmandu) I had a few nights in Kathmandu with a day trip to Patan which is well worth the effort! Lithuania and Vilnius.. A place that has now changed me in so many ways by the time I had left the country to be heading back to Australia. First stop in Lithuania was the hill of crosses and i remember thinking this is one creepy place.. It is not just one hill of crosses either, the whole area is completely covered in them and an amazing sight when first seen. Main thing for me when thinking about Poland is the events of the World War and trying to find out what happened here and get the local point of view who are still very keen to tell there stories passed down from Parents, Grandparents or there own tales. I got some very got insight with what happened there whilst staying with some very nice people in Warsaw and Krakow. First I was in Warsaw where the whole city was completly destroyed 85% but they have managed to rebuild the old town to exactly the way it was before the war started. [View Full Entry]
