Hi Both I have read viewed and enjoyed (as always) thanks for up date. Question how do you manage to write caption on your photos? love and hugs Margaret I have a very sad ps, do you remember Bert? mums next door neighbour in Hull? he died yesterday at the very ripe age of 94ish bert had a long life and had all of his marbles to the end. The saddest part for me is that I wont be able to say goodbye but on a positive note he was staying with his niece at the time so was amongst friends

As usual! Jish does look a bit fly-like in the sunglasses I think. I’m sure that the inhabitants of the historic Maori site were feeling very secure and well protected by the Maori Glynn! Just so long as the inner flower doesn’t surface in the event of attack!

oooh, I cracked up at dub dub dub for www too. So funny to hear adults saying it. And jandals. A lot of the other things - like smoko, and the drink and drive slogans - are very similar to home in OZ. But Kiwis definately have their own way of doing (and saying) things. We also love that a babycino in NZ is called a fluffie (in Australia a fluffy is a polite words kids use to say 'fart').

Hi guys! You'll be interested to know that the trilobite fossil is abtially a chiton, and it's alive (believe it or not!) Have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyplacophora Pretty odd looking things, kinda interesting. Try as I may when I was a kid I just couldn't get them off the rocks, they're stuck on pretty hard!

Hi both great to see you are enjoying life in NZ. Saw you mum and Ed yesterday at Grandmas. They have been sorting out the damp in her house and now they are going back we are taking over. They both were in good spirits. Any luck yet with the job hunt? My friend was in NZ last week and unbeknown to me in Auckland too. She had a meal in the revolving resturant at the top of a tower and lost her handbag as it rotated. She had to follow it around the floor!

Loved your journal - From: Peru-sing Miraflores
Your journal was inspiring. I am leaving with husband for Peru for 2 week eco-tour. A bit nervous because I am not young, nubile and athletic. I am middle-aged, a good walker and yoga person, extremely adventurous, and off the beaten track, but also a bit neurotic. We are not sprinting the Inca Trail (missing it) but lots of walking and touring. I really enjoyed your pictures and zest for trave It gave me confort that I can actually do this (it's a real no-frills eco-trip). I also loved the rest of your travels. Wow Wow Wow! - From: My Husband Said "Go Jump Off a Cliff" - So I Did!
Hi there - I am soooo jealous! That just looks like the coolest thing in the world. I went for a walk just yesterday up to an old Iron Age hill fort hereabouts and there was someone up there doing the same thing, but the wind was pretty poor and there wasn't much of a drop really to fly about in. I kept saying "I want to do that!" Where you are here looks just so much more exciting. Does Jish have a new outfit? Also - Has Glynn been cultivating his goatee? A lot of the photos have shown the chin in shadow, but your face is looking decidedly more pointed.

Those tree spikes were just mad - they look like spikes on roses. I don't suppose they would have broken off in the same way? I have some strange memories of breaking off rose thornes then sticking them to your nose making it pointy. If the bark would do the same thing, it looks like you'd have to have two to make horns! hey you both, hey courageous sister :-) yes.....that egg really seems to be a real jurassic-dino-egg , i'm quite sure:-))) haha. you look so relaxed and happy in bolivia... the dino-park is funny, shame that you couldn't see the footprints in nearer distance. if you both come to munich, we can locate some dinos as well as there are some ferocious looking ones as well (not in a park but in a museum ;-). i had a great weekend (nearly 4 days) with wolfgang in prague, what a great medieval town with the hradschin&co. brilliant weather and last not least visited pilsen, where beer comes from originally. bit of shame that the beer prices from recent times are no longer that cheap(meaning no longer 20cent for half a litre but 6-8 times as high -well - still cheap in comparison to germany or britain ;-) take care and beware of the dinos judith ;-) love'n'miss you, esther

strange name - strange girl. hey guys - sorry not to have been in touch in so long.. still loving your blogs though! Got plenty of wedding pics to show you. Lots of upheavals at work all year - so keep looking out behind you I may be on the back of the next batmobike you see, as I head off to start my life as a peruvian sheep farmer. It could happen. We should have lovely sunny easter weekend for once, although all this sounds rather dull compared to fake steak and bus loo traumas. So glad you are both having such a good time. Big kisses - love you long time... xxxx

art, food and booze - From: Holy Giant Anthill, Batman!
if you're into murals and street art, just wait till you get to valparaiso. the lower part of the city isn't all that great but the hills are fabulous (especially cerro alegre and cerro concepcion, cerro=hill). in santiago, i really recommend a bar call "la liguria", (address: providencia 1373, about 30-50m from metro station manuel montt, line 1). they have great pitchers of wine with fruit (ponche, or punch, is white wine with peaches or chirimoya, a south american fruit; or else borgoña, red wine with strawberries). again, there's nothing wrong with santiago at night in the areas you will be going, especially in providencia just west of downtown. more in your neck of the woods near barrio brasil, if you go west just a half mile or so from plaza brasil you can find cumming street, which also has some interesting bars and restaurants (between the alameda and catedral streets, metro stop republica on line 1). barrio bellavista, where you were near cerro san cristoba (the big hill you climbed) has good nightlife, especially weekends. a common and tastey snack in santiago are completos (hot dogs with avocados, tomatoes, and mayonaise) and of course empanadas (turnovers). pisco sours are a tastey and intoxicating chilean mixed drink made with pisco, chile's (and peru's) national liquor, sort of like brandy.

dangerous city - From: Una Cerveca Por Favor
wonderful blog. you guys are living the life! just wanted to say a thing or two about santiago (don't know if you're even there still). santiago is actually THE safest capital city in the americas--only ottawa is safer with homicide rate of 1.1/100k people--and chile itself is easily the safest country along with canada. santiago has a murder rate of 1.4/100,000 people (compared with about 12/100k for most US cities, i know you're not americans but that's my reference, and lower than canada's). unless you venture into an unusually dangerous neighborhood (and as a tourist you have to really try hard to find one, you won't happen upon a bad area by accident) you will not get mugged. the main danger is pickpockets, but you're both seasoned travelers so unless you totally do something stupid you won't have any problems. no need to be paranoid, but being aware of your surroundings never hurt anyone. cheers, and enjoy your time in chile!

Hi ya mate, went onto friends reunited on Monday, noticed the link to this site and have spent all of my lunch breaks reading about your adventures. Its been a long, long , long (I feel soo old) time since we last saw each other but if there's one thing I'm sure of its that good things happen to good people, You were a top bloke back then and it seems you're still a top bloke. I've got to say that I'm not a big reader and haven't read anything bigger than a newspaper in approx 10 years, please tell Jude that I haven't been able to pull myself away from reading your blogs and have even received a bollocking from the boss for reading them outside of my lunch breaks (has she ever thought of writing a book about your travels because I would definitely buy it). Look forward to reading future blogs and if you get time in your hectic globe trotting lives check me out on friends reunited as I've just updated. Take care of yourself, Jude & Jish and I hope Lina's eye is better. Dave.(will get in touch when you get back).

Deepavali - From: An Awful Lot of Nothing At All
Hi Jude & Glynn, You have written such an interesting blog, that I keep waiting to read your another day's experience and "adventure". But I am sorry that I have to correct your interpretation of Deepavali. You wrote that "Deepavali, a Muslim festival celebrating the end of fasting for Ramadan". This festival is actually not related to Muslims. It is a Hindu festival which coincidently for the past few years fall on one of the days during Ramadhan month. "Hari Raya Aidilfitri" will be celebrated by Muslims in Malaysia on Tuesday after one month fasting. During this time in October shopping malls and other shopping bazaars are crowded with people because of these two major celebrations. Shopping malls are offering discounted items. Regards.

I was having a look on friends reunited - saw your name on the pontins bit, had a look and found you here - a modern day explorer (lucky bugger), I'm not sure if my name shows here so - its me Brian Kenwrick, you know the one who was mates with you and Jason, went out with Gina and very briefly with your sis (lol). Great seeing some of the photo's of you (you havent changed much), I remember me and your Bro planning to go trekking across europe once but he went and got a job at 5star in London. Remember the Red32 club or whatever it was and nights in the British Legion get our grooves onto Betty Boo etc etc (hides in shame)on the dance floor with all the crew, can't remember any names except Dungeon Master (hardnosed bloke). Me I am living in Weymouth, Dorset with my long time missus Claire and our daughter Nikita, we also have one on the way - due jan/feb, me I have just gone back to college as a mature student on a furniture making course whilst working as Club steward in a Yacht Club. anyway will keep up with your experiences on here and post now and again if thats ok - you and jason can get my email in my profile if you want. Hi Jude You will be pleased to know we are in the middle of a heatwave here in Norwich - should get up to 29 degrees today. Looks like it could last most of next week too! News from the work front - Ann is no longer our boss - we report directly to Alan now. She has been moved to look after a project for about a year - Alan is not sure if she will then come back or not, so we will have to wait and see. I guess thanks go to you on this; don't know whether it would have happened without your intervention - so, thanks! Loving the journal - you could write a book when you get back I think! Debs

Enjoy crazy HongKong - NO DOGS - From: Hi from Hong Kong
Hi you both, you wonder why the German relatives do not send any comment;-) Finally I do! That travelblog is s.th. really fantastic - am reading your articles all the time - really interessting seems as if I'd join u live! I'd love to as here nothing really important happens - Munich is only full of football-tourists! Last week I've joined the footballgame between Saudi Arabia and Tunesia - for 20Euro (normally 50 Euro ;-))haha)! Friends of mine bought tickets over the internet for plenty of games - though there actually don't any exist! Clever guys! Wanted to sell my ticket to a rich Saudi-Arabi, however, noone was interessted-we thought to get around 2-300 Euro - they pay on the "black market" (right engl. expression-ups?). Everywhere has been police so too risky as not relly legal isn't it..Hope to improve my English as I often have to translate via phone your blogs for Papa and Franziska! They left this morning for a holiday to Switzerland (Gstaad - famous village high in the mountains). So, have fun in HongKong and rest of China - enjoy yourselves - u do as I can c in your photos!! Don't eat dogs and eggs of...different animals ;-) if u know what I mean! Keep us updated! Miss u both! Esther (p.s. received your message on the answering machine - have to leave my flat during daytimes as heavy noise of house builders and craftsmen - better to call in the evenings :-)). TAKE CARE!

Earthquake info - From: Shake, Rattle and Roll
Hi Guys, Hopefully you're still having a huge amount of fun & enjoying all the sites & sounds on your travels. Some Earthquake info for you!! There was indeed an Earthquake measuring 6.3 on the richter scale at 05:01 AM Tokyo time just near Kyushu (The southern most island I think) on the morning of the 12th. There was also another quake measuring 4.2 on the richter scale at 04:45 AM Tokyo time on the morning of the 11th. This one was just near the north-east coast of Honshu. So probably miles away. If you want more info, check out http://neic.usgs.gov/neis/qed/ but it takes an absolute age to load (the map appears quite quickly, but the earthquake data takes several minutes). Personally, I reckon you felt the 6.3 one (or probably the aftershocks), so well done, you have officially survived a 'strong' quake. Enjoy the rest of your travels. TM

loving the photos. its well weird, seeing you so far away on the other side of the world, you both look very content so far, and the architecture looks fucking cool. I watched a thang on Shanghai last night and the architecture and the whole redesign of a city is so interesting, its all a bloody fallic power show, but impressive at the same time, ahh the contradiction of life.... i rechone u guys will end up in some budhist camp and find the meaning of life have even more fun x

Phew! - From: Monkey Magic!
I am pleased to hear Jish will be returning to Inspirado. It’s all very well that he should have his own little adventures - but you just know he’ll want to tell you all about them. Seeing as how it’s quite difficult to communicate with strangers without opposable thumbs or voice box, have you thought of letting him have a little note to give to anyone who might need to help him re-unite in future? (I expect he communicates with you by the power of “He’s our bear”)

Hi there! I see Jish is looking after you well, taking you to see all the sights. The crossroads looks cool, as does everything! Well done Jude for overcomming fear and successfully taming her very first dinosaur, even if it wasn’t quite the scaly, bone crunching, small furry mammal killing, lighning fast machine of death that strikes terror into the heart of all who witness its destructive power. Hope you continue to HAVE FUN!

I'm so happy that you've managed to set off - it seems such a long wait, and then it happened so quickly, I didn't manage to speak to you to wish you well on your epic adventure!!!! Things this side of the globe are much the same (as i guess you'd expect)... back on the quest for a job with loads of interviews... still decorating the house... and still trying to get that little bit fitter (just joined the gym down the road) You take it easy, and i'll keep my eyes open for your next installment - it has more tnesion than a neighbours cliff hanger!!!! Jude, I know you'll both have a ball with this and I hope you realise that, in addition to your packs, you're carrying all our hopes and dreams with you, coz we haven't got the bottle that you two have!! So long as your gastro-intestinal tract behaves in a manner to that of PVC pipe, you'll be fine. I make a point of always testing the local brew (wherever I go) and I guess you'll do the same. The only place this failed for me was Venice, when our hotel only stocked Tennents!! Enjoy everything, even the hardship, and keep safe. I'll even let you bore me with the PowerPoint show on your return. Love n huggs from the Swindon NC Posse!!
