Take care, Leon Also tell your friend Indie I wish him all the best too. Even though I don't know, the part about him being normally very laid back guy and then losing it with hotel owner, over passports, really made me laugh! (: I can truly sympathise! Leon |
| 12th October 2006 Mansukh | Amazing - From: From East to West I have really enjoyed reading your blog. You both have had an amazing three months together seeing various countries, experiencing different culture, food, climate, beauty and languages which will definitely broaden your mind. I think you both should plan another trip together to Latin America or Africa or North India before you both settle down with your girlfriends. |

| 23rd September 2006 pats | - From: Exceeding all Expectations must have been the lovely suzdal churches which solidified your decision to swing by romania? they look so much like the suceava monasteries - or perhaps i'm just inclined to confuse all the onion shaped domes of europe. still enjoying all your missives - say hello to all the wonderful folks in ro for me! |

| 10th September 2006 Betty Greenspan | More WOW - From: Russia or bust! We so enjoy your blogs. I am fixed on the fact that you can gather enough stimulus from your environment to look at your value system, as it exits and where you would like it to go. Say "hello" to St. Petersburgh for us. I will never forget sailing intoo the city along the same route that my Dad took when he went to see his family in 1935. It was an emotional moment. You are on the last few weeks of your journey. Enjoy, be well, and have a wonderful rest of trip. See3 you in a few weeks. Much love G & G |

Even my colleagues at work find it very exciting and want to read all abour your experiences. We have been reading some of Indie's comments but would appreciate a bit more from him and see what he thinks of some of the experiences he is having. Keep up to it and have lots of fun ans explore as much as you can as you both have time on your hands for now. Keep well and take care. Bye for now. Looking forward to your new adventures. |
| 29th August 2006 Marcie | Absolutely beautiful! - From: The great lake Fantastic blog as always. Never known anyone who has been anywhere in Russia besides St. Petersburg so reading about your adventures in Kyrgyzstan is extra exciting to me! | 28th August 2006 Felipe Contreras | A discovery chanel type adventure! - From: The great lake Hi Ian, I know is the first time I write to you since your trip to Asia began. But I have read all of your postings and sometimes I get my self transported to all those situations and places that you describe! Keep on with your trips, good luck and tell Indie that some of his B&W pictures are very cool! About me, things are going well, my parents are back in Colombia, and now some new opportunities in Spain or Mexico may come, so I hope to see you there or back here in Bogota soon! Buena suerte mi amigo! Felipe |
| 26th August 2006 karen | - From: The great lake I agree with Rochy - your blogs are getting better and better and so are the photos. I particularly like the one of the intrepid travellers. You are having adventures, and seeing and experiencing things that will stay with you forever and that comes across in the blogs. Indie - I had never thought that way about people going to places like China to teach English - an interesting point of view. |
| 26th August 2006 Laura Marquis | wow!!! - From: The great lake Hey there! Been meaning to type a comment every time for ages so felt I'd better do it before you were home! Am loving reading your travelblog from over the summer, looking at the photos (yes the guy does look like Zach Braff!) and of course Indie's insights. Sounds like you've been having the most amazing time, though well deserved after uni no doubt! Glad you're enjoying yourself and it's fab to read about places noone else I know has been! Laura |
| 21st August 2006 Rochy | Nice one!!! - From: Another world This blog is getting better and better, every new entry gets more interesting and also it gets harder not to want to know what you two are up to, what’s being your latest adventure. Have fun. |
| 18th August 2006 adam | fun china - From: Beijing, and beyond! huanghua is a great choice to see the wall (we even camped overnight on it) and glad you got the DVD shopping in. you were really going to do 40 hrs kunming-beijing and 48 beijing-urumqi? trust me, after teh first 24 hours you get really bored -the plane is a good choice! How you managed NOT to find McDs though... everyone in china knows it! Did you go to the stone forest, or stop off in xishuangbanna on your way from Laos? you really need to see some chinese villages, and not so many big cities! |
| 14th August 2006 Jenni & Duncan | hiya - From: The Spring City hello. An entertaining read! We'll keep checking your blogg page to find out what you are up to. My bro hasn't got back to me about the hostel in St Petersburg - sorry. However I'm sure you'll find it or somewhere else easily enough. Happy travelling. :) |
| 12th August 2006 RB | Enjoy China! - From: The Spring City Stumbled on your blog, no idea who you are. I recently spent a month in China, it's a great country with incredibly friendly people. If you end up in Xi'an, hit up the muslim quarter for some excellent beef kebabs at unbelievably cheap prices. Don't miss the great wall while in Beijing, skip Badaling and go to Simatai, 3 hour drive but well worth it. FYI, The Forbidden City is undergoing massive amounts of restoration/reconstruction for the upcoming olympics, so much of it is shut off to the public and covered in massive tarps. Great cheap food at the night markets near Oriental Plaza a few km's from Tianemen. Enjoy China, other than the pollution it is a great place! |
| 11th August 2006 Dipika | Hi - From: The Spring City Hi nandi, how are you? hope you and ian are enjouying your trip. I want to see all the pics when you are back in london. hopefully you will be back this year!! I am really enjoying reading the journals that ian had written. Anyway i just wanted to wish you a happy Raksha Bandhan, which was a few days ago. take care, have fun and see you soon. dips. |
| 10th August 2006 anonymous | - From: I love Laos hi Ian and other guy. Wow! your blog is cool. The writing has a sort a succint panache and wry humour reminiscent of some author whose name I cant remeber. The photos too are amazing. They are very well composed. Ever thought of getting them published? Think about it. Dave |
| 10th August 2006 IanDoesAsia | great to hear from you all - From: I love Laos Ni hao from China! I was speaking to the monk in English - he was a teacher at the monastery so he knew some. Hope that answers your question Gomez ;o) Also, Pats, I'm pleased to say that Indie is overcoming his massage addiction. His cold turkey treatment is proving effective, though I'm worried he may relapse in Beijing! Indie and I entered China a couple days ago, and it's been a real adventure so far. Look out for a blog update in the next couple days (dodgy Chinese internet accessibility permitting...) I'm very pleased to read comments from friends and family. It's great to know what other people think of the blog. Keep the comments coming. |

| 7th August 2006 Leon>G | You are some man! - From: I love Laos Ian my friend...I too have enjoyed reading your blog! Although Kerry does at times read it, I am slowly becoming engrossed! Simply out of interest, what language did the monk at the bottom speak? Also, I bet you the food is INCREDIBLE! Gracias por la pasta antes! ciao hermano (: |
| 6th August 2006 Paula P | you have a following - From: I love Laos Ian & Indie, Just wanted you to know that there are a few people at my work who are now "Ian does Asia" blog junkies. Not much happening back in Escocia. I've now been to more weddings in the past week than in my life up until now, but on the plus side I'm becming a very adept waiter/barman Day off today so we're having a BBQ for the World Cup final at Alans (Alan that was at Coldplay).
