Les Miserables Europe » United Kingdom » England » Essex
Having only 2 classes today was excellent. I tried uploading photos, but the CD has a block on it. I stayed after school doing coursework with some of my students. I tried the internet café across the road, but it was too slow. July 4th It was coursework after school again tonight, and then I caught the train and went to the gym. July 5th I had to stay behind after school for the staff meeting and then I still went to the gym despite it being later than normal. Beck had the day off and went to Les Miserables with [View Full Entry]

Run 4 Life Europe » United Kingdom » England » Essex
We were up at 8 in the morning as Beck and Kez were doing the ‘Run 4 Life’ in the city. Kez drove in part of the way and then we caught the train. We met up with Kez’s work mates who were doing the run as well. It’s quite warm today, and I’m really struggling with either hay fever, or a cold, or both. The girls left me with their bags, and then I went and met Rory outside the Princess of Wales Hotel. Rory and I followed the girls around for parts of their 5km walk taking photos. Rory [View Full Entry]

I felt pretty ordinary when I got up this morning. I haven’t been sleeping that well. Matty picked me up for cricket, as we are both in the 1’s today, which is great as Matt is the reason I decided to play for Belhus. We won the toss and bowled first (!). I bowled very badly. 15 runs off my first over. My first 5 overs went for forty something. I came back on late in the game and didn’t fare much better. The end result was 9 overs, 1 for 64. My worst figures ever I think. There was a [View Full Entry]

Wimbledon Europe » United Kingdom » England
I still need to get the Wimbledon journal from Beck and Kate, but below is my day. Today there was meant to be school cricket followed by a staff leaving dinner for Sue Cahill. The cricket was called off due to the soccer, so we went to a pub straight after school. We went to ‘The Oaks’ pub which is famous for a son killing his dad with a samurai sword. The story goes that the son was kicked out of the pub, went home to get the sword, his dad raced down to the pub to stop him and I [View Full Entry]

It was tough getting up in the morning, but surprising school went alright. I got home from school in time to watch the soccer, Australia versus Italy. Poor Beck couldn’t get out of work. Italy looked dangerous until half time, but it was still 0-0. When one of their men was sent off it gave us a great chance, but we couldn’t capitalise. With 3 seconds left a penalty was awarded to Italy for an excellent dive. This was one of many during the game by the Italians. I felt sorry for Lucas Neill who I feel epitomises how Australians play [View Full Entry]

Prague 2 Europe » Czech Republic » Prague
Ginko, Nic and Chriso got in at about 02.30. Apparently Chriso was talking Swahili to a rough looking local with scars all over his face. Ginko was a bit worried, but it turned out to be all good. While Beck and I had avoided the absinthe, they had tried it last night. It was good to have had a decent night’s sleep. It was a slow start for everyone else, so I went to the supermarket and got breakfast supplies. Unbelievably the supermarket is literally only 30 metres from the hostel, but I still got lost! My sense of direction is [View Full Entry]

I had an ok sleep, and if Ginko snored I didn’t notice! There was a continental breakfast on offer, but after looking at what was on offer we decided to go to the supermarket. Everything was very cheap, particularly beer, but we managed to show strong will power. After buying our supplies we had breakfast back at the hostel. We decided to take in the sights of Prague on foot. All the shops were very interesting, obviously designed for tourists, but the souvenirs were different to what we normally see, eg. marionettes and babushkas. As there was so many shops, we [View Full Entry]

Going to Prague Europe » Czech Republic » Prague
I wanted to focus on going to Prague, but it wasn’t so easy being at school. Everything went ok though, and I got out as quick as I could around 15.10. Kez and Beck picked me up from school. I got changed in the car, dropped my shirt off for dry cleaning, and then we caught the 15.46 train as there was no 15.33. We got off at West Ham, caught another train to London Bridge, and then it was a mad scramble to try and get on the train for Gatwick. The train was jam packed, standing room only. We [View Full Entry]

I didn't have the best of sleeps, which led to me struggling through the day. I was very tired and snuck out of school right on 3. I tried to get a nap in, and I wasn't interested in the gym. Beck had an even longer day than me. I did manage to finish off exam marking in preparation for reports. 20/6/2006 I did go to gym today, but I didn't have much motivation, feel a bit flat. I watched the England versus Sweden game. Barracking for Sweden for two reasons: 1. I want to see England versus Germany (huge rivalry). [View Full Entry]

It was good to have a quiet night, and I continued marking exams when I got up. I rang Baz before it was time to head into London with Kez and Rod. From Canada Water we caught the tube to Fulham Broadway where we are meeting everyone. We were starving so we ducked into TGI Friday's for lunch. We tried Brasil beer with our lunch which was a bit ironic, but it was just ok. Kate, Julia (Jules) and Casey joined us, and when we finished eating we headed for the Pitcher & Piano. We went the wrong way at first, [View Full Entry]
