...And the bags did arrive. Touchdown in a gloriously drizzly Manchester. Typical. What a welcome home... Totally bittersweet. Good to see everyone. Nice to be home. Home comforts and all that jazz. But, where is the adventure? The unknown? Kinda grim and Im writing this 3 weeks after our return and it still feels the same. The last night was strange. No jokes. The last time we would be sleeping in a dorm together. Thousands of miles away from home. Away. On our own. On our adventure. The past six months have come and gone. In the blink of an eye, it seems we have travelled the world, met some amazing people, seen wonderful places and done once in a lifetime things. But now, it was almost over. The next time I would lie in a

The journey was all relatively straight forward. All until we got into downtown which is a maze of one-way streets and I turned down one. The wrong way! Ha! I thought it was slightly strange that the other car was coming head first towards me... Luckily enough I managed to pull in and we were headed in the correct direction in a matter of seconds!! In our time in American we had spent quite a long time bonding with Dino, the Ford Fusion that had got us around the massive

This may sound like a strange place to visit and I guess it kinda is. But for the fact that James also has family there that had invited us to stay, we probably wouldn't have gone. It infact turned out to be some of the best times we had in the US of A. After a 2 hour drive almost any form of civilisation had died away, leaving just a straight road through nothing but desert. This indeed was a long long road but it certainly wasn't winding. Possibly the longest and most boring drive of my life. But,

Since writing my last blog I have touched down in 'sunny England' and so I am now actually home. The reason for the delay being I have had no motivation to do anything as everything at home seems so uninteresting. However, I have defeated the lazy urges and decided to conclude my travel blog. So...having explored LA the next leg of our journey was down to San Diego. To get there we could either catch a bus or hrie a car. The latter seemed much more interesting! Equipped with our new car named Dino, we set off on the freeway headed south; destination Escondido - just outside of San Diego. This time me + Ross

Of course, its the US of A and where better to start our west-coast journey than in 'The City of Angels' - Los Angeles... Before we could plant our feet on American soil we had to endure a long and unconventional day as it had 44 hours in it. We left Fiji at 10pm on a Tuesday and arrived in LA at 1pm earlier in the same Tuesday! We had crossed the international date line! Pretty crazy concept how you can kinda go back in time. Mental... Touchdown in LAX and battled towards our hostel

All we had to do first was endure the small flight from the cold New Zealand to Fiji and we would soon be losing the hoodies and trousers and donning the bare chests and flowery shorts. Time for some relaxation... Our island hopping adventures didnt get off to the best of starts. We stayed our first night on Viti Levu (mainland) and then left the next morning to the port to catch our first boat up to the Yasawa islands. The sky was a dark grey and a rainstorm seemed iminent... As predicted, when we arrived at our first island (Kuata) the heavens

We were pretty gutted to be missing the Mauri tribal evening and also our final chance to do some white water rafting which we have now missed Thats life though and unfortunately we cant do everything so we caught a little Mauri talk from some crazy woman who seemed to be a fiend for eating the bark of trees. Nice. We then saw a few of the hot geezers that break from the ground all over the town. The steam is sulphur rich and so causes a bit of a pong in the air. One of the things that made us feel less guilty about leaving

We were all pretty sleepy (even if we did sleep in a bed at the airport!) and so upon arrival in the capital we found a hostel and immediately crashed out before going to explore and attend the one thing we were looking forward to in Wellington - the All Blacks game versus Ireland... Slightly rejuvinated, we wandered down the central street and headed towards the waterfront where we found a free museum (Te Papa) which was pretty cool. A huge government investment has made this museum "The Museum of New Zealand" and the building is pretty impressive; dominating the waterfront. We had a quick browse around and then found ourselves in a free acoustic concert with some Mauri fella. He

Before I delve into that I will inform you that we spent a rather uneventful night in Wanaka; the town which didnt really have much to it save for a nice lake and a decent curry house. We had a chilled night with the Kiwi crew; playing cards and shooting pool - getting a good sleep ahead of our onward journey to the traveller capital of the south island. After our many single nights along the west coast blessed with fantastic weather we eventually arrived in Queenstown. For months we have been hearing rave reviews of this place which is meant to be one of the best places on earth! If you were to do every single activity in

The road then turns inland and weaves through more mountains and then back out to the sea to Cape Foulwind where New Zealands's largest seal colony call their home. A pretty relaxed life from the seals lounging away on the rocks all day and basking in the sunshine. They seemed to be pretty used to the tourists taking their snaps and did some funny poses especially for us! A short drive further we stop at Punakaiki Pancake rocks for lunch and have a brief walk around the limestone towers that have been eroded by the sea over centuries. Not far from here is Greymouth which is one of the largest settlements on the westcoast which is only home
