Travel Blog | Hunglish http://www.travelblog.org/Bloggers/Hunglish/ Travel adventures in journals and photos from Hunglish en-us Sat, 26 Dec 2009 11:31:41 +0000 Sat, 26 Dec 2009 11:31:41 +0000 Australia Having only 3 weeks to explore Australia we decided to travel from Sydney where we arrived up the east coast in a campervan to Cairns where we were due to fly out. It all started though with a few days to explore Syndey and luckily for us we were there during the lsquoAustralia Dayrsquo celebrations During the day Sydney harbor was filled with boats of all kinds waving flags with helic http://www.travelblog.org/Oceania/Australia/Queensland/Cairns/blog-257416.html New Caledonia Our excitement of getting to visit New Caledonia dampened a bit when we started researching how much it costs to stay there Definitely it has imported prices as well as the language from France and thats a real shame for backpackers. jKalednia ltogatsa irnt rzett lelkesedsnket kiss leh369ttte mikor rjttnk hogy milyen sokba is fog ez neknk kerlni. It was described as a beautiful island with great beaches and snorkelling with a tiny local community so we cou http://www.travelblog.org/Oceania/Fiji/Mamanuca-Islands/Mana-Island/blog-249186.html New Zealand Finally we had made it to this infamous country infamous because this was my second visit Andy and I had previously declared it to be my favorite country Praise indeed and I was really hoping it could live up to it in Briggirsquos eyes. Perhaps the most important aspect of New Zealand is that the people are so friendly and we were reminded of that as we went through customs and the customs http://www.travelblog.org/Oceania/New-Zealand/blog-249185.html Tahiti We visited Tahiti primarily because itrsquos a compulsory stop off between the Easter Island and New Zealand. We decided to make the most of it and invested 5 days into staying on one of its many tropical islands called Huahine. We were fortunate enough to have a good friend of ours Natalie fly in and stay with us while we were there it was so strange but great to have a friend from home http://www.travelblog.org/Oceania/French-Polynesia/Huahine/blog-249088.html Chile As any guidebook on Chile will testify there are a lots of beautiful areas to visit in Chile if you enjoy getting into virginal countryside. However as time was limited for us we chose to visit the most famous the mountains of Torre Del Paine. As mentioned in our last blog we made a 3 day trip out of El Calefate in Argentina to take in as many of the sights as possible with a rentacar.Chile va http://www.travelblog.org/South-America/Chile/blog-249074.html Easter Island Easter Island was one stop on our trip that we really had to fight hard to get included in our round the world ticket as itrsquos not on the main world routes. And we shopped around many travel agencies until we found one that could help us get there on a RTW ticket. We both felt that to reach Chile and not to visit the famous Easter Island which we both had a curious interest in would be a wast http://www.travelblog.org/South-America/Chile/blog-249082.html Argentina Our dream of finding soft beds and showers as we entered Argentina following our tiring trip in the wilderness of Bolivia was to remain just a dreamhellip In fact we got just the opposite We crossed the border at sunset and discovered the first lie of our Bolivian salesman the bus wasnrsquot going to have the nice reclining seats he promised Having wasted the evening in a cafe we got on the http://www.travelblog.org/South-America/Argentina/blog-246425.html Bolivia We entered northern Bolivia alongside the Lake Titicaca coming from Peru. The first town Copacabana was a gateway to visit some of the Bolivian islands on the lake but we decided to save some time by skipping them although we only heard good reviews of them. After a lunch break on the lake and the most disappointing spaghetti carbonara I have ever eaten and Irsquove had bad ones sometimes http://www.travelblog.org/South-America/Bolivia/blog-244296.html Peru Peru has got quite a name for itself amongst travellers with its beautiful mountains and the infamous Machu Pichu and we were really looking forward to see it for ourselves. Itrsquos also not the safest of South American countries which we did realize throughout our stay but thankfully never experienced anything bad ourselves. Being paranoid over ourselves and belongings seemed to deter the w http://www.travelblog.org/South-America/Peru/blog-223844.html Life after the Galapagos Its pretty tough coming back to the mainland after the Galapagos especially to a capital. On the plus side we were able to eat Indian food which made a very pleasant change Quito had a bit of a reputation for being a bit dangerous which made us quite aprehensive. We had no problems during our stay thanks to a network of police standing on every street corner in the touristy parts of the city bu http://www.travelblog.org/South-America/Ecuador/North/Quito/blog-216816.html Amazing Galapagos Everyone has heard of the Galapagos Islands and know its full of wild animals that are as tame as your pet dog but we were still a bit skeptical if its really as nice as everyone makes it out to be. We are not avid bird watchers or anything like that and hoped we wouldn't be disappointed by our trip.Mi is mint mindenki hallottunk mar a Galapagosszigetekrol es hogy itt a vadallatok olyanok http://www.travelblog.org/South-America/Ecuador/Galapagos/blog-214540.html Costa Rica and Panama The first 'must see' area of Costa Rica for us was the Nicoya Peninsula in the north west. The only way to see this area is by renting a car so we spoilt ourselves and blew our budget and got ourselves a nice little Toyota Yaris. We were originally thinking that a 4by4 would be needed but the nice guy at the rentacar agency explained us there was absolutely no need.. mmmm.Elso utunk Costa Ri http://www.travelblog.org/Central-America-Caribbean/Costa-Rica/blog-208408.html El Salvador Nicaragua Our first night in El Salvador was best described as uneventful. After bussing it from Guatemala City to Santa Ana we arrived weary but looking forward to what other travellers had described to us as a hidden gem in Central America. After a predictable getting lost episode on the local bus going into and back out of the city as we planned to get off when we saw something that looked like a dow http://www.travelblog.org/Central-America-Caribbean/Nicaragua/blog-207792.html Guatemala Honduras Belize This short blog covers Guatemala Honduras and Belize they didnt take us too long to travel through so it seemed fitting to do them together. The first interesting thing was border crossing from Mexico into Guatemala it was like no other Ive seen.. No border patrol no guns no border to look at actually. We just got out of the bus walked down a muddy path and caught a boat along the river http://www.travelblog.org/Central-America-Caribbean/blog-202507.html The country of ruins.. So in an attempt to try and catch up we thought we would let the photos do the talking. Needless to say we had a great time in Cuba met lots of great people and have stories to tell when we get back. One area we didnt have time to see but heard from many others its well worth a visit is Baracoa on the south eas http://www.travelblog.org/Central-America-Caribbean/Cuba/Oeste/blog-196679.html Cuba OK we admit it we are running a bit late with these blogs All the elements seem to be working against us bad PC's bad stomachs and even website failure which is why our previous blogs are no longer available...
