_____________________ E: G'day all, Time for an update, I suppose. As I mentioned last time, I am back on Koh Tao and do my Dive Master. It's heaps of fun. But currently I am having a cold and cannot dive. That gave me the time to finish all the exams and now to update the blog. I arrived on the 12th of July with Rob & Yvonne who I had met in Bangkok. They stayed for three weeks. The time really passed very quickly for all the sudden they said Goodbye and left for Indonesia. The Dive Master course is really interesting. I actually already lead certified divers at some of the sites and do assist under water with Open Water Courses (that's how you become a certified diver). I have to do some 'Rescue Scenarios' ... read more

________________________ E: Hi all, On the 12th of July I got back to the Island - Koh Taoh that is - and started the Divemaster drill a couple of day later. So -like Angel in Edinborough- I am back to the grind. Well... sort-off :-))) Rob & Yvonne are here as well. Sand between my toes and the sound of the beach in the background... how much I missed this!!! Sorry for not writing for so long but I have been really busy with studies, exams, and diving. Also, as you might have noticed, I had to restore the entire travelblog because of a server breakdown. But all should be in order by now. I Hope! But first let me finish by writing about my last days in Cambodia: Finally, on Tuesday, I was able ... read more

Phnom Penh II (03.07.2006) _____________________ D: Hallo zusammen! So auch hier: "Hello Sir!", "Where you go Sir?", Tuk Tuk Sir?", "Sir! want to buy something Sir?", "Sir! You want smoke, Sir?", "Sir! mariuhana, Sir?", "Sir! You want opium, Sir?", "Sir! You want girl, Sir?", "Very young girl, Sir!", "Sir, You want bumbum, Sir?", ... read more

Siem Reap (Angkor) 27.06.2007 ________________________ E: Hello folks, The last two chapters I have written from Siem Reap, the modern town that is next to the famous temples of Angkor. So finally I want to present you with some of the many photos I have made here. I have to be selective, since it takes ages to upload so be aware, next time you see me with my laptop or iPod I'll show you many more! I have also not seen every temple so I might go back one day and shoot more. Apart from the temples there is not much to tell. Somehow not too many funny things are happening here, compared with Laos. I think I am also a bit travel-weary, which might explain why I am currently not very active. I've told you ... read more

Phnom Penh 1 (Killing Fields and S21) _________________ E: Hi everyone, I am still in Seam Reap. I will write about Angkor Wat the next time but first about my first stop in Phnom Penh. A warning: Most photos here are about my visit to the Killing Fields and the Security Prison S21, where 20,000 people were tortured and killed. I was very moved by these sites. If you are not in the mood to see some rather depressing pics, don't scroll down too much. ____________________ D: Hallo mal wieder!

_______________________ E: Hi folks, Currently I am grounded (yes, I know... again) in Siem Reap, this time with a kinda naughty infection in my foot. But no worries, thanx to Chinese doctors and some antibiotics I am fine and just decided to chill out for a while and get over with this infection before I head on. OK... last time I was writing from Laos. The border crossing was a nice little adventure, but no drama. First with a canoe from Don Det to the mainland, then waiting until enough people are together for a minivan -i.e. 20 people in a 12 seater :-))) - then about a half hour drive, change into a Sawngthaew and another half hour on a dirt track, me holding on at the back. Then comes customs on the Laos ... read more

______________________ E: Hi guys, I made it into Kratie, Cambodia, by now. But first about my last days in lovely Laos which I spent in Si Phan Don, aka the 4000 Islands: In Southern Laos, the Mekong becomes bigger and bigger and it Sawngthaew fans out forming a network of channels, sandbars and islands, about 14 kms wide.

Champasak _______________ E: Hi everyone, So I left Vientiane on the night bus. We arrived at 6:00 am in Pakse. A hoard of Tuk Tuk drivers was waiting. I decided to skip Pakse altogether and instead head for Champasak, a bit further south. After a while I figured the next bus would not leave 'till 8 am, so I decided to go for the more authentic option: Tuk Tuk to the local market and from there with a Sawngthaew that would leave around 7 am. So there I was, surrounded by local women coming from the market, their kiddies, rice bags, and all sort of vegetables, sitting on a wooden bench and enjoying the breeze. Good fun :-))) Then I got dropped of at the Mekong, where I head to catch a boat across the river. ... read more

Gidday, After spending my last day in Vientiane updating my blog and uploading it to the mysterious wonders of the World Wide Web, I had a couple of final beers with Corrie at our favourite bar and took the night bus to Pakse. A bit further south, in Champasak, after a little snooze, I am now sitting at the banks of the Mekong and try to get the blog further up-to-date. Can't really be bothered to do anything else (i.e. site-seeing) since I'm too knackered after that overnight trip. OK... Vientiane: It's the capital of the Laos PDR and a place I definitely want to come back to. Forget what the guidebook says: It is a really charming Asian capital with a thriving expat community and a place to indulge into food and drinks, both, ... read more
