Can't always be original
As a seasoned blogger I must admit I don't actually read most entries on Cambodia, so no I didn't know it had been over-used. I tend to read blogs about places that I know little about, Cambodia isn't one of them. As it is, it is always hard to be original on a country that has been blogged about as often as Cambodia. Thanks for the suggestion on Vietnam by the way, I might use it ;)

I remember that song very, very clearly and am so glad I was not on holiday there at the time! My flip flops are very dear to me also.

Well you'll work harder with a gun in your back / For a bowl of rice a day
Yes, I do remember that song, of course, still listen to DK to this day. You're flogging a dead horse, though. As a seasoned blogger, you maybe should have noticed that this title has been overused to death for blogs on Cambodia. It's about as original as 'Good morning, Vietnam'. There, you already have a suggestion for your next blog and country. Cheers, Jens

The Wakhan corridor straddles the Tadjik-Afghan border. So I am not misleading anybody when I am stating these pictures are of the Wakhan corridor. They are, just not the Afghan side, and I don't claim they are from the Afghan side either.

Dude, this is not the Wakhan. It is misleading to say so. All of these pictures are in Tajikistan, and not in the Wakhan corridor.

REUNION
Special times...looked like fun. First time I've heard pavlova is from New Zealand...but some say we are related...so that's OK.

memories in the sands of time
I am really enjoying your blog. Loved the reference to Knightrider....hmmmm!!! I am from South Africa and now live in London. Whenever I go back 'home' on holiday I seldom have any emotional attachment to any of the places. It's quite weird in a way, but I kinda left that far behind me in 2001. I enjoyed your childhood recollections and was especially amused by the back tyre overtaking the car. :) altho I am sure at the time it wasnt that funny! I really do love your photos, and have to marvel at the richness of the statues in comparison to the wealth of the locals. Different perspective altogether. Regards Cindy

love your blog
Hi Ralf (or should I say ....your dudeness :) ) - I am on my lunch break and as usual I read travel blogs....coz I love travel and don't get to do enough of it so have to read what other peole are up to. I have just read from your latest back to this one and I love your style of writing, and also that your posts are not the usual "top 10 list of...." You have a quirky viewpoint and that is a refreshing change. re this blog...I think you have done Thailand justice and given a different viewpoint, altho I was sad to read that it has become so touristy, but I guess that's inevitable. As for never finding fresh stuff to blog about...I doubt that. You have a keen eye and a different perspective so will most likely never run out of ideas. Your photos are great and we can never get enough photos. Somehow they will always be different in one aspect or another. I live in and blog about London, and although this city sees millions of visitors I still discover places that Londoners born & bred have never seen. Impossible to imagine, but it is true! Keep writing, and wo, I am totally envious that you have been to so many countries. I am going to subscribe to your blog so I can read more of your interesting posts. Have a fabulous christmas. regards Cindy @notjustagranny & @3days_in_london in case you wish to connect.

An interesting philosophical question
and one we have all asked ourselves. And was the original banana pancake the thick one with banana on top, or the thin crispy one with banana in the middle?

Paths nearly crossed
Hey - you should have let me know you were in Chiang Mai!! I've been in the Burmese library there the last month and only left yesterday! Now I'm back in Oz!! We could have shared a beer and a banana pancake - although I much prefer banana Roti!!! I wonder how close our paths crossed? Have a greta Xmas and New Year!

Interesting to hear what the people of Burma have to say, especially things critical of the military dictatorship. Burma looks like a great place to visit, hope I'll make it there again soon.
