| 9th April 2008 Sanchia Scott | Eric and the Olympic torch - From: Final Entry (back in Paris) Hilary, I wish I could have been at Eric's concert. I have just received my copy of his CD, L'odysée, and am listening to it in the car as I drive the 1 1/2 hrs from the city to the holiday house - I am just loving it - he is so talented. I will be visiting Portland in late September so maybe I will get to see him on stage then. The demonstrations surrounding the Olympic torch are very much in the forefront of our news as our new Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, is visiting China at the moment and creating waves by making comments on the lack of human rights for the Tibetan people. Looking forward to seeing you in Paris in early September. |
| 9th April 2008 seb | friends name - From: Final Entry (back in Paris) my friend's name is actually arnaud, not antoine. bises seb |

| 30th March 2008 Shirley | Super trip and super travelogue! - From: spring (?) in New England and Quebec We'll be glad to have you back! What an amazing trip. I loved hearing about the places, your adventures, and your photos are terrific. I'll have to come and have a lesson in technology, because you seemed to have time to log on pretty often. When I was in Japan and Korea last year, it always seemed as if people were waiting in line for the computer. We don't have snow here, although a few flakes fell last week. Still cold, but there are a few signs of spring--like the flowers. Welcome home. Shirley |
| 27th March 2008 Birthe Stein | Have a good return trip - From: Hello from Boston+Photos Tikal Dear Hilary, Have a good trip back home! after all your travelling that must seem like just a small hop! | 19th March 2008 Jack and Louise Christie | continental divide - From: Monteverde Ola HK- C Catching up on your blog. You've come a long way from la ville de Quebec! Love the shots of the thermal pools and the continental divide. Reminds us of a chairlift in the Rockies near Banff that crosses the divide from Alberta and drops skiers on a summit on the B.C. side. Looking forward to seeing you in Paris mid-April. Bises. Jack and Louise |
| 18th March 2008 sam | Costa Rica Info - From: a Pacific paradise, but...... Hi. stumbled on your blog in my search for information on costa rica vacation. I ran across this link. | 16th March 2008 Sanchia Scott | Paradise - From: a Pacific paradise, but...... What truly beautiful places you have discovered - I loved the photo of the highly colourful bird attached to your last blog. You are one of the lucky ones to see all this natural beauty before it is lost. You will be sad that your time there is coming to an end. I expect Quebec will be freezing. I have actually just ordered Eric's CD - am very much looking forward to hearing all of it - I really loved the sample on his website. Stay safe - have fun. |
| 16th March 2008 Bernard | Eden forever - From: a Pacific paradise, but...... A force de te balader d'un paradis à l'autre, tu vas trouver le reste du monde infernal, et ton retour à Paris va être un choc. Prépare toi au pire! Bises, Bernard |

| 13th March 2008 Mary Duncan | Very jealous - From: Paradise Found With all the rain and wind in Paris, I'm very envious. So pleased you're having a marvelous time. |
| 13th March 2008 Shirley | Sounds lovely!! - From: now in Puerto Viejo It sounds like a wonderful country to visit--and yes, I have heard that San Jose is rather disgusting. My father knew some people who lived outside the city, and they locked everything inside huge walls every night, esp. the car. But he did love the rest of the country, and your pix of birds and animals are super!! |
| 11th March 2008 Bernard | - From: Some photos Les vacances de Sarkozy, à côté des tiennes, c'était vraiment rien. Continue de nous faire rêver, pendant qu'ici on grelotte sous la pluie, qu'on tousse et qu'on éternue. Ciao, Bernard |
| 11th March 2008 margie | Puerto Viejo - From: now in Puerto Viejo The beaches and waterways of CR sound and look just lovely. Looks like a good choice. Margie |
| 10th March 2008 Michal Commanday | Enjoying your tour - From: Now on the Caribbean Hi Hilary, I've enjoyed reading about your stay in Antigua and now Costa Rica! My husband and I were just in Antigua in December for a few days. Then we went to Copan in Honduras and the island of Roatan, where the culture is much as you describe on the west coast of Costa Rica. Our December trip was in fact inspired by a very interesting trip 4 years ago to Nicaragua and the Corn Islands off the coast, where again the culture was Afro Caribbean. I'd love to swap stories with you some time. How fortunate that you're having these adventures! Enjoy! Michal |
| 10th March 2008 Sanchia Scott | Green with envy - From: Now on the Caribbean Hilary, This is my favourite blog yet. It sounds simply fabulous. A much more civilized way to see crocodiles and exotic birds than way down here 'downunder'. Adelaide is in the middle of its longest heatwave ever recorded (and it is meant to be the start of Autumn!) and the poor birds hibernate all day in an effort to avoid the scorching temperatures (not sure what the crocodiles are doing - we don't have any in the river that I live on!). Can't wait to see the photos. Keep trecking, and keep safe. |
| 28th February 2008 Mary Duncan | Bravo Hilary - From: last days in Antigua Enjoying your adventures. Keep sending those photos and comments. Best, Mary |
| 28th February 2008 EJK | - From: last days in Antigua Hello Mom, Great blog entries. It's very interesting to read about all that. Stay safe and have fun. N#1 son |
| 24th February 2008 Shirley Lambert | Costa Rica - From: A weekend in Antigua Hi Hilary-- These are lovely pictures--what an interesting country! I was wondering how one goes about finding families to stay with? Is this a service of a language school, or are they listed somewhere? Also, both my son and daughter have said that Costa Rica is simply a must-see. Both coasts and the mountains and rain forest in between (the Cloud Forest). Costa Rica has done a terrific job with ecotourism and is "safer" (so they say) than other Central American countries. And I have not been to Tikal, but have been to Chichen Itza. I think Tikal is larger. Have fun, keep sending us your blog! Shirley |
| 24th February 2008 Sanchia Scott | Mayan Ruins - From: A weekend in Antigua Regretfully I have never been to South America so can't help you with any suggestions about the Mayan ruins, but boy are you wetting my appetite. I am pulling out my old Atlas and tracing your journey and dreaming of one of my own. Your adventures are inspirational. Keep safe. |
Bises, Bernard |
| 19th February 2008 Sheri Hanson | McGill - From: last photos from Canada Your photos remind me of when I took Claire there to visit in February 2003. It's a great university, and I'm so glad she has her degree now. My only other trip there was May 2007 for her graduation! Your trip sounds wonderful. Do enjoy, Sheri |
| 19th February 2008 Ej | - From: Lake Atitlan+volunteering Great pictures. Have fun. |

| 15th February 2008 Sanchia | Linguists - From: news from Antigua Given that I could still not speak more than 6 words of French after being in Paris for 3 months, I am incredibly impressed with your increasing proficiency in Spanish. I heard a Professor of Linguistics talk on our local ABC radio this week - she spoke nearly 20 languages - you will be catching her up soon!!!!! Your volunteer work sounds inspirational. I am starting to make plans for another three months in New York in the middle of the year, including a week stopover in Paris on the way home. Will very much look forward to seeing you again and hearing more of your adventures. Remember not to fall off the mountain. Warmest regards, Sanchia |
| 15th February 2008 Peter and Claire | Hope you're enjoying yourself - From: news from Antigua Hi Hilary. Our first venture to your blog. The address was in the newsletter and since the service is this weekend we just pulled it out for a look. Have not read all the previous entries but this sounds like a great trip -- material for another book perhaps? Hope to see you in the spring and to periodically catch up on your central american news. At least you'll not miss the regular nightly frosts here. Will light a candle for you. Hugs, Peter (and Claire) |

| 11th February 2008 betty abugheida | boston photos - From: photos from Boston This interactive site is fun to go to. I usually do not go to websites if I have to enter the information separately but this is so easy. I hope I can transfer it to Reema who spent her university years at MIT and who will probably know lots of these sites. Have a good time. Spring is in the air here in Paris. Betty |
| 9th February 2008 Sanchia | Musician's Mums - From: photos from Boston From one 'Musician's Mum' to another: it's great to see you out and about at 'live' music venues. Go girl!! Boston in winter dress looks magical. |

| 7th February 2008 Sanchia Scott | Travel stories - From: now in Boston Your bus trip through the snow and ice sounds amazing. Glad you finally arrived safely. You certainly had some sagas getting in and out of Montreal - it is usually us 'Aussies' who have to endure such long travelling times. I just love you photos, keep them up - Boston must also be very beautiful covered in a layer of snow. Stay warm and have fun. XXX |
