Buenos Aires - a cool city! We arrived in Buenos Aires on 29th of April in the Morning. Buenos Aires has a lot to offer and it never gets boring there. The city is really huge what makes you spend a lot of time travelling in local busses or the metros. The city is composed of several barrios (districts) that could be their own cities as well - from the point of size and their different styles as well. Further I was like spending hours and hours in the streets just watching what was going on - Street musicians, all [View Full Entry]

Cordoba South America » Argentina » Córdoba » Córdoba
Cordoba, the second largest city in Argentina, is said to be the second capital as well. The city is nice and rather clean. There are a lot of colonial buildings to see and lots of museums as well. We did not spend much time in Cordoba. Only two days exploring the city and of course the world cup stadium as well. Due to the legendary match at the world cup 1978 that ended 3-2 between Austria and Germany, many Austrians just go and visit the stadium. A normal stadium, nothing very special, but it still is the place of the Austria's [View Full Entry]

...

Hello Blogwatchers! So we left Calafate on Tuesday 21st and went on a 28 hours busride to Bariloche. Bariloche is quite nice with nice mountains and a beautiful lake. In winter there are great skiing opportunities. You really feel the German/Austrian impact there - so to us nothing absolutely new. As the weather was really cold and windy we just went on another busride 20 hours after we arrived - heading north to Mendoza in another 18 hours busride. Mendoza was nice and warm. We explored the rather small city and its night life a little bit, did some paragliding and [View Full Entry]

The map - from Calafate to Bariloche in 28hrs
"City" somewhere in nowhere

We entered Argentina on the 18th of April and went to our first destination Calafate - still very far in the south... Calafate is the gate to the stunning glacier perito moreno - an unbelieveably big ice hunk ;) Really awesome is that there are ice rocks cracking loudly all the time and some of them are dropping into the lake - really spectacular. In Calafate we stayed in Hostel Coehue - it was great fun there. The lamb Leandro was cooking was great (and more than plenty ;). And for that they serve these nice sugar cane drinks ;). 111 pictures - The National Park Torres del Paine is really beautiful! I was walking for 3 days doing the popular W-Track (called so because it looks like a "W" on the map) - so you go into three valleys to experience three very different landscapes in the park. The Grey glacier ending into Lake Grey, the beautiful France Valley with stunning 360 degree views on bizarr rock formations, and of course the Highlight: the mirador los torres, where you stand right in front of these three giant rocks not beeing able to believe where you are ;) It has been [View Full Entry]

From Pucon we went on to Valdivia. A small student city, where many young people live. There we couchsurfed at Juan's place. He was literally providing us more than just a couch. He was even cooking salmon for us - typical for Chile ;) So all the way it was really nice to stay at his place and to meet him and his friends. We had a lot of fun hanging around, joking and of course seeing what happens in the nightlive of this lively city. So thank you once again Juan for these two days in your house in Valdivia! ..we really gonna need the iceaxe?

So we left Auckland on the April 1st in the evening and arrived in Santiago on April 1st noon - that's cool! ;) We had a really good start in Santiago! We liked the flair from the very first minute. People are really friendly, open minded and patient with my (still) poor but well improving spanish skills. We met a lot of people here. Had great fun with some people from our hostel. Additional info on Plaza de armas: the stand-up comedians are there more or less every day. Selling some of their CDs and performing an ad-hoc comedy show for [View Full Entry]

Piha Beach - not far from Auckland - is really beautiful. Nice Bay with some small houses on the hills. Each one having a beautiful view on the sea. In Auckland we were having some nice days, drinking a little bit ;) and just relax and prepare for our next destinations in America. By the way some photos from the museum. So that was New Zealand! We were having an amazingly great time! Greets HenC, Evelyne and Chris [View Full Entry]
