HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! Cal wanted to dress up as a girl, but somehow his wig mysteriously disappeared this morning...LOL. He's dressing up as the muscle man from Fantastic 4. | 29th October 2006 Heide and Jordan | Whoohoooo - From: Flying Fox, Abseiling, Gorge Swing and cheating death October 29th 2006 Hi guys, I started a message and you might have got it but I'm not sure since I've got Chelsea in my lap and she loves to use the mouse. Anydaho, I'm at a loss for words, almost. Heidi, your writing is entertaining and so bloody accurate. You bring back tonnes of great memories for me. Going to Africa was one of the highlights of my life. I went for the animals but came away completely touched by the people. It seems trite to even say it now but I bet you know what I'm talking about. I have never wanted for anything material since returning home and am continually grateful for life's small graces. Can't wait to read your next entry. Wayne stayed at the watering hole in Etosha until five in the morning watching the various animals come and go. It was like watching the best play ever - one act, after another. Time flys over us and leaves it's shadow behind and yours is getting longer every day. Take care and best wishes. Love from Shannon p.s. - my Grandmother was really tickled to received your postcard! p.s.s. - Jordon, I like your haircut and your last entry. So much fun in the gorge! Did you enjoy sandboarding? I had a heart-attack when I did it and still cringe to this day thinking about it. Give me a pair of skis any day. Speaking of which - no snow here yet, little bit of rain, looking forward to Hallowe'en and some trick or treating. Wayne and I spent the Hallowe'en of '96 near Etosha and Wayne dressed up as 'spoon man' and I was 'lady in dress' - go figure. Lame, I know. I think we paniced the locals cuz they didn't know about Hallowe'en at all. Needless to say, it was slim pickings for chocolate. Jayden says 'hello' and is looking forward to reading more entries from you. That, and now he wants to travel the world. Don't we all???? Take care, S. |
| 27th October 2006 Damian | Too cool!! - From: Flying Fox, Abseiling, Gorge Swing and cheating death That looks awesome!!! Where is the Heide "flying fox" or was it the Heide "sitting safely on land fox?" LOL |
| 23rd October 2006 Stephanie & Calvin | miss you guys! - From: Quad biking on the moon So glad you guys are having some down time! It was fabulous to hear your voice the other day...and so surreal to think you were so far away in the middle of AFRICA! You sounded so close! Hey Jordan....LOVE your hair!!! |
| 22nd October 2006 Natalie | I miss you - From: Quad biking on the moon I miss you so much, wish I was with you. I went skating at Moody Park areana last night. They had a Hallow'en theme going on. I brought home a huge pumpkin which I carved a scary face on. Today I am going to watch my sister, Stephanie play soccer. It is beautiful and sunny, just the way I like it. I learned how to do a Ollie when I was skate-boarding. Whew...it was hard but I did it. lol I am also playing volley-ball on my school team and we have our first game next Wednesday after school. I get up at 7:00 in the morning, meet my friend and we go to practice at the school on Mondays and Thursdays. Really miss you lots. Love, hugs, kisses Natalie |

| 30th September 2006 iggy | Congratulations! - From: South Africa: How could you be so blind as to see everything in black and white? Congratulations Heide! The power of our written word is enormous. There is a small spark of writing in most of us just waiting to be ignited by our creative wind. And you Heide have certainly ignited your creative wind with your eloquent blog re Zwelihle township. There is a narrowness to all our lives, lived as we are in privilege and in full consciousness that millions of less fortunate, but equally deserving souls go without. Unique experience for you Heide adding value and quality to your life. I'm sure very fulfilling. Very moving stories and pictures. |

| 26th August 2006 tania batten | Your fascinating travels - From: Taking the long way....... Hi Heide, I may have met you once many years ago, I'm Holly's aunt on her father's side, and I'm utterly captured by fine sense of adventure - it's something that I would have done, had I thought of it when I was oh-so-much younger. Even now, I would love to fly over and meet you in one of your exotic destinations for a short stay (if you would allow me) - Unfortunately, my husband is currently in home-care, and I don't know if I could leave him - it's too early to tell. My nephew (from my other brother) has just moved from Bankok to Shanghai - bummer, that would have been a great opportunity. I'm especially entranced with the early part of your itenerary. What a wonderful education and experience your providing for Jordan - he's a very fortunate boy to have a mom with your spirit. Good luck, Hugs and happy wishes to you and Jordan, Tania Batten (nee Hurmuses) Re: Taking the long way....... |
